100 photos of the best ideas for plastic entrance doors in a private house

Entrance doors to private residential buildings, apartments or office spaces, as a rule. They are made in an armored version, which protects the owner of the premises from unauthorized entry.

At the same time, in cottage villages, if there is a guarded perimeter, as well as in reliably protected apartment buildings with a high-quality video surveillance system and restriction of access to strangers, the need to install anti-burglary doors completely disappears.

In such situations, premises owners often install plastic entrance doors that provide coziness and comfort during the operation of the premises.

Advantages and disadvantages

Before you try to install a new door in your house, you should decide what the old one is not like: if the product is wooden, then the lower the building, the more the door swells from moisture in the autumn-spring period.
It needs to be varnished or painted regularly. In northern latitudes in winter it can easily freeze. Soviet apartment doors generally do not stand up to any criticism: if you do not insulate the door along the contour, then drafts from the entrance will constantly flow through the apartment, and the reliability of fiberboard and chipboard is low. Metal doors attracted city residents as reliable, although expensive. However, in country houses such a door freezes, and one morning you may simply find yourself imprisoned in your own home. Those who have used a plastic door can note the following points as advantages:

  • Aesthetic appeal due to different designs and color variety.
  • Excellent sound insulation: air chambers block most extraneous sounds.
  • High-quality products are made from high-strength materials. Metal-plastic, stiffening ribs in the door leaf, increased door thickness make you feel safe. Additional provision with anti-burglary fittings and shockproof packages indicates a high level of burglary resistance.
  • PVC door blocks are much lighter than metal or wooden ones, that is, they are easier to install.
  • High-quality products retain heat well. The more layers of insulation in the structure, the greater the likelihood that the door will not freeze.
  • Tightness is achieved using a seal and special clamps.
  • PVC perfectly repels water, which prevents the door from increasing in size.
  • The material easily tolerates temperature changes.
  • The door can be easily opened by pressing the handle.
  • PVC is easy to care for using regular detergents. Enough to remove even heavy dirt.
  • Acid and alkali will not damage the material.
  • Such a canvas is difficult to scratch with the claws of an animal or make a dent with a blow.
  • Products from reputable manufacturers are fire resistant. Due to the air gap inside the sandwich panel and seals, smoke and carbon monoxide will not be able to easily overcome such a door.
  • Since the door block consists of individual elements, if necessary, they are easy to replace.
  • If the door sags, you can adjust it yourself.
  • Doors of proper quality will last up to 20 years.
  • Manufacturers offer doors to suit any budget, and even an expensive door will cost less than a metal or wooden one.
  • Plastic doors are regulated according to GOST, which makes it possible to determine the quality of the product and legally protect it.

PVC doors also have disadvantages:

  • The quality of the product depends on the integrity of the manufacturer, so, unfortunately, you can only find out how high quality the product is during its operation.
  • Poor quality doors made from window profiles freeze in winter.
  • Not every manufacturer can adequately decorate a door leaf; because of this, the door sometimes does not fit well into the existing interior.
  • If you need a high level of protection against burglary, such a door will definitely lose to a metal one.
  • GOST allows that the door will not have an additional profile, but then it becomes unstable to mechanical damage.
  • Installing a door block is a rather complicated process. You should not install it yourself; it is better to entrust it to professionals. If you lack experience during installation, you can damage the glass unit, which will lead to cracking of the glass.
  • Since PVC is a chemical compound, its environmental friendliness is inferior to wood. The presence of chlorine, phenol and aldehyde in the components provides harmful fumes.
  • GOST does not allow the addition of lead to PVC, but making sure that the standard is not violated will be problematic for an ordinary buyer, and the sense of responsibility of manufacturers is not always at its best.

How to use?

Despite the fact that the doors do not require special care, you cannot leave everything to chance. Don't forget to periodically lubricate hinges and locks. To do this, use special compounds.

Grease should be applied once a year.

Adjustment is necessary. If you use the door intensively, you may need to change the position of the door leaf. However, this should be done once a year, not more often. Remember the need to replace seals. However, this can be prevented if you care for them properly. Try to entrust service work to experienced professionals. These may be special companies, or specialists from the manufacturer.

Kinds

Interior plastic doors, like any other, differ from each other in how and where they open. This should also be known and taken into account when planning their installation.

  • Double-leaf swing doors are often installed outside as entrance doors, when, if necessary, to let a large number of people inside the room, you can open the second door at any time, or leave it closed depending on the traffic.
  • However, double-leaf structures can also be used for interior purposes. Double doors are installed when we are talking, for example, about large rooms in country mansions or government buildings, when the doorway is too large to install a standard single-leaf door that can open both outward and inward.
  • When planning the size of the doors, it is recommended to think through this issue in advance, since there are situations when it is simply impossible to do without installing double-leaf structures, and technically it will not be possible to save on this.
  • When installing swing double doors in the interior space, you need to immediately decide in which direction they will open: outward or into the interior space of the room. It happens that it is best to choose the option when the doors open inward, due to the fact that technically there may not be enough space in the corridor, although, willingly or unwillingly, the customer has a desire to leave as much free space in the room as possible.
  • Of course, wide doorways in large houses and large apartments present a challenge, but it can ultimately be solvable if all the pros and cons regarding the technical possibilities of planning and installation are weighed.

Thanks to their unique design, these “sliding-sliding” doors can be installed inside the wall - with absolutely no damage to the room and with maximum space savings. In fact, cassette doors are the same sliding counterparts, the movement of which is carried out by using a roller mechanism. The difference between roller doors and cassette doors is the so-called frame.

Being placed in such a cassette box, they move easily, almost silently, without the risk of distortions, falls and other problems that could theoretically arise when using heavier materials.

Cassette interior doors close very tightly, which provides additional sound insulation, and if they are installed in the kitchen, this prevents kitchen odors from penetrating into living rooms.

The only obstacle to installing cassette interior doors may be the high cost of such a mechanism and installation, but in some cases this option may be the only way out of the situation, especially when it comes to non-standard layouts inside individual rooms.

In this case, confusion when making a decision rarely arises, unless you also need to decide where the door will open - into the room or into the corridor, which depends on the size and area of both the room itself and the space that adjoins it.

A plastic folding door in the shape of an accordion, despite its unusual and extravagant appearance, is a very practical invention of designers if the interior space is very small and installing a regular swing door is problematic. Also, with the help of an “accordion”, you can carry out the necessary zoning of space, separating one part of it from another.

The accordion door leaves are connected to each other with special hinges, the number of which directly depends on how many parts of the accordion a particular door has. Much, as always, depends on the doorway, which most often has non-standard dimensions.

Such an “accordion” is attached to the upper and lower rail structures, and its doors move freely along the rails with the help of an additional mechanism that ensures the smoothest possible movement.

An accordion door, like any other interior door, can be made of plastic or wood chips, however, when choosing a material, it is important to take into account that the folding type of door is an additional load on the entire sliding mechanism. It is best to use lightweight material in the form of plastic, without using laminate and heavy types of chipboard

What it is?

Interior doors made of plastic are an excellent solution when the buyer especially values the practicality, durability of the product and minimal maintenance.

There are a lot of prejudices against installing plastic in residential premises: people assume the possibility that plastic doors could be installed as entrance doors, or, at best, perform the usual functions of balcony doors.

Due to ingrained stereotypes, the imagination of most potential buyers who have not encountered the latest production technologies immediately pictures a glass door made of white metal-plastic, and nothing more.

However, due to the fact that modern production has made significant strides forward in recent years, there have long been developments of plastic structures of various types, intended exclusively for their installation in residential premises.

In appearance, they are almost no different from wooden doors or more familiar products made from particle boards and their analogues.

As for their environmental safety, if the manufacturing company is fully responsible for the quality of its product, such doors always have certificates. This means that the material has successfully passed safety tests and is completely ready for installation in a house or apartment.

In order to completely dispel the remnants of prejudice, it will also be important to know that the PVC from which plastic doors are made is initially subject to repeated recycling in order to remove all possible chemicals that can harm the human body.

During the processing process, the material acquires durable high-tech characteristics, and the door itself does not look cheap and ordinary.

The color of such doors has long been not only white with a glossy tint, you can choose any color that will ideally fit into the structure of the existing renovation and interior, or if you are just planning to renovate a house or apartment, you can decide in advance on the general tone of the room and select the color of the doors depending on the decision made.

If you look back at those harsh times when replacing doors in a residential area was a whole problem, now everything can be solved quickly, efficiently, and economically - plastic doors are much cheaper than their wooden counterparts and are sold everywhere.

There is always the opportunity to order a set of doors from a good manufacturer, and competent specialists will help you choose color, design and fittings.

Installation features

The installation of a plastic entrance door with glass must be carried out with the utmost precision; this work should be entrusted to professionals.

Installation is carried out in several successive steps:

  1. The first step is to install the door frame.
  2. Specialists install vertically located load-bearing elements. After this, horizontal elements are attached to the vertical elements.
  3. The next step is glazing the canvas. Glazing is carried out only if the canvas is brought to the installation site disassembled - with the double-glazed window removed. The glass unit must be secured to the profile using a sealing compound, and then covered with a horizontal strip in the center of the panel. But, in most cases, the manufacturer delivers ready-to-install entrance doors with built-in double-glazed windows.
  4. Installation of fasteners. At this stage, the type of parts used matters:
      If there are hinges, the frame is first mounted, and then the sashes are attached to the hinges. The canvas is hung first on the lower hinges, then it is closed and the hinge at the top is secured with a pin;
  5. in the case of a rail-carriage mechanism, you need to install tracks;
  6. With a carousel system, it is necessary to install the shaft and install the blades.
  7. At the final stage, work is carried out to seal the door.

Care Tips

Let's look at this point in more detail. Many people probably remember how, as a child, they had to paint windows and interior doors every summer. And the paint in those years had a smell that was difficult to remove. It was necessary to update the appearance of the metal entrance door.

Plastic has recently come to replace metal and wood. But even over these two decades, the buyer has already appreciated the fact that nothing needs to be painted.

  • No, of course, a plastic door can be painted at home, if the need arises. Water-dispersion or acrylic paints are suitable for this. In this case, you can choose any color, as long as it matches the interior.
  • But in most cases, it is enough to simply remove dust from the surface or wash it. Plastic does not absorb moisture, so you can safely take a rag and use a cleaning agent.
  • There are brave souls who laminate plastic products at home. This is the process of applying film to windows or doors. In this case, you can choose a color film or a film with a pattern. But still, painting and lamination should be carried out in extreme cases.

Successful models and options

As noted earlier, plastic doors are widely used in swimming pools and bathrooms. While high humidity is a death sentence for wood and metal, it has no effect on plastic. The maximum that can happen is the appearance of condensation, which can be easily removed with a dry cloth.

They are most often ordered for apartments by owners of a balcony block. This is a complete replacement of old wooden structures. Not only did they have to be insulated every year, but also every spring they had to remove the insulation and tear off the newspapers that were used to seal the cracks.

It is especially practical to use a full glass door in rooms with a French balcony. Not only the inside of the room is played out, but also the outside. For plastic structures, there are no difficulties in framing any architectural projects, even if these are arched options.

A plastic cabinet installed on the balcony for storing things or workpieces looks aesthetically pleasing. The door can open either like a wardrobe or in the usual swing way.

But it is best to install a folding plastic door in the kitchen. It easily separates the hallway or living room from the dining area. If necessary, it can be completely folded, and the passage will not be blocked. This door also looks harmonious in the dressing room.

It is unlikely that anyone would recommend such a door for a room, especially for a bedroom. In cases where the apartment is small, you can divide one of the rooms into two parts with a partition. Remember that by using frosted glass, you can achieve complete impermeability.

In the last years of the last century, it was popular to install two entrance doors. On the one hand, it was a certain protection against burglars, and on the other, it provided heat and sound insulation.

Before installing a metal-plastic door in the corridor, it is recommended to install a special box, popularly called a “pocket”. This is one of the solutions, and to some it may not seem entirely appropriate in city apartments, but to others, on the contrary, it will suit. By the way, the additionally formed “room” can be used for storing things.

But if in an apartment building you need to have a permit to carry out construction work, then in a private house this is not required. This is where you can ignore the size of the room and go all out.

First of all, I would like to note the fact that winter gardens on a personal plot are most often made of plastic. In them you can grow not only vegetables and herbs familiar to our table all year round, but also try to adapt exotic plants to our climate.

Along with winter gardens, gazebos for private areas are also popular. The plastic door to such a room can be locked with a key, which facilitates the use of this room in the summer, if necessary, as an open-air bedroom. But this, of course, is already a delight. Something similar is implemented as a ready-made solution for business. In many cities, entire markets are set up from the same type of kiosks.

Often a plastic door is ordered specifically for the entrance area. It can be made according to a special project, even with glass or mirror inserts, even triangular or rounded in shape. In this case, it makes no difference to the manufacturer, because this is not a stamping production. Any order is made according to individual sizes.

In conclusion, I would like to note that there is a certain minimum of technical characteristics that must be taken into account when choosing a plastic door:

  • The metal-plastic profile must be three-chamber. And it is desirable that its thickness be around 100 mm.
  • It is necessary that the canopies can withstand the weight of the canvas - at least 80 kg. Otherwise, there is a high probability that the door will begin to sag over time.
  • Availability of conventional rack and pinion locks.
  • To reduce weight, it is recommended to use single-chamber double-glazed windows, but this reduces sound insulation.

To summarize, we can come to the conclusion that the plastic door has found application in both residential and non-residential premises. She is not afraid of moisture, pests, or temperature changes. It practically does not fade under the influence of ultraviolet radiation.

In recent years, close attention has been paid to the safety of the product; it is considered hypoallergenic. But the main thing is that the plastic door is available to both rich and less wealthy customers

By following these recommendations, you can extend the performance of the product for tens, and perhaps hundreds of years. Moreover, profile manufacturers also provide a long warranty on their products.

In this video you will find professional advice on choosing a plastic door.

Decorating plastic blocks

Modern metal-plastic doors to a private house provide the living space with good noise and heat insulation. But in terms of reliability, they are significantly inferior to metal structures.

The appearance of plastic structures goes well with concrete, stone and brick walls of buildings, as well as facades finished with siding.

If the walls of a country house are wooden, it is recommended to be careful when choosing the design of PVC blocks. In this case, it is better to choose products decorated with wood. In this case, the color shade and texture must match the facade of the house.

The advantage of plastic entrance blocks for a country cottage is the possibility of using non-standard designs, for example, arched doors and windows. Many people additionally insert stained glass into such blocks to make the entrance passage look unique, i.e. was not like the neighbors' houses.

Balcony

The balcony door is an important part of the room and interior. Characterized by the lightest weight

A profile similar to a window profile is used. Keep in mind that the handles for opening and closing the door are located only on the side of the room.

Pros:

  • long service life;
  • many options for color, design, texture, etc.
  • ease of use;
  • look good with plastic windows;
  • many opening and closing functions, there are modes for ventilation, windows and many others;
  • increases the degree of natural sanctification;
  • retains heat.

Minuses:

Opens only indoors. This will have to be taken into account when arranging furniture.

Design

Modern doors made of metal-plastic are widely used both in administrative and commercial buildings, as well as in country and apartment buildings. There is a simple explanation for this - they are not only functional and practical, but also suitable for most design projects.

Plastic goes well with brick, concrete, stone and even wood. The main thing is to remember the color ratio.

White plastic in wooden structures looks unattractive. Accessories play an important role in the design of a room. Even if it is a small room, you can always decorate it correctly.

PVC entrance doors with glass

Fiberglass structures are characterized by their functionality and ease of use. Plastic entrance doors have virtually no disadvantages. The only negative is the high cost of installation work. But sometimes it’s better to overpay in order to get a high-quality door design as a result.

The advantages of PVC doors with glass include:

Advantages of plastic doors with glazing.

Versatility and functionality. Thanks to these qualities, a plastic entrance door with glass will last for quite a long time. Possibility of installing various auxiliary mechanisms. This should include alarms and other options that allow you to protect your home from intruders. In the door manufacturing process, only high-quality and technically equipped materials are used. High rates of thermal insulation and sound insulation. Wide range of products. Anyone can buy a PVC entrance door with glass, which will differ in design solutions and functional criteria

Thus, each buyer can focus on the product that will successfully fit into the interior of the house and at the same time perform all the assigned functions.

The process of adjusting the plastic entrance door is described in detail in this information.

Types of glazing

For the manufacture of glass PVC structures, certain types of filler are used. All of them are distinguished by their low specific gravity. The most commonly used types of glazing are:

  1. Embossed. Thanks to him, it is possible to obtain various relief patterns. You can also familiarize yourself with the options for finishing door slopes after installing the front door using this link.
  2. Triplex. A special feature of this option is the presence of several layers in the glass. They are attached to each other using a protective film.
  3. Frosted glass. This material is characterized by a translucent shade that looks great with a plastic door.
  4. Mirror glass. Thanks to him, it is possible to protect the house from surveillance from the outside. At the same time, the glass looks transparent from the inside, so there are no obstacles to the view from the outside. You are also interested to know about the dimensions of metal entrance doors with a frame.

Also, when choosing a PVC entrance door with glass, you need to pay attention to the types of functional fillers. This should include:

  1. Regular double glazing. It involves the presence of two glasses, which are connected to each other by a plastic structure.
  2. Sandwich panel. This is a two-chamber model, which includes three glasses connected to each other, as well as glass.
  3. Triplex. These two glasses are connected to each other using a polymer material that creates a separate layer.

When choosing a door design, it is necessary to take into account that there are the following types of decorative fillers:

  1. With spross. Shprosses have the form of gratings, which have a supporting and protective function. They can also serve a decorative role. When decorating, they are used as plastic strips, with the help of which a pattern is created on the entrance door structure. For the supporting function, they provide a solid foundation for the future product, using spigots made of aluminum or plastic. It is possible that you may need information about platbands on wooden doors, which you can read about here.
  2. Decorative double-glazed windows can have several types of glass: creset - has a relief surface, satin - has a matte structure.

Briefly about the main thing

With the advent of modern metal-plastic profiles for the manufacture of sealed door and window blocks, there is no longer a need to think about how to insulate a metal entrance door or maintain a wooden door in good condition. Plastic structures do not have many of the disadvantages of their steel and wooden counterparts - they perfectly insulate heat and noise, are adjustable if necessary, are characterized by a long service life and ease of maintenance, and a huge number of design solutions. But all their advantages appear only if they are manufactured with high quality and installed correctly.

Colors

The style and character of the room determines the color scheme of all furnishings in the rooms or building, this also applies to doors. Since plastic is easy to paint, the possibility of making doors of different colors will not raise any doubts.

Doors in this regard may have the following characteristics:

  • The glossy surface of the door can have the desired shade, it all depends on the desired effect.
  • A matte finish will add a resemblance to rubber and make the color softer and warmer.
  • The ability to add texture and any color can create the effect of wood, stone, metal or other material.

Dimensions

In the Soviet years, when constructing apartment buildings, they were guided by GOST. The state standard concerned not only building materials, but also ceiling heights, the number of windows in a particular series, and the presence or absence of balconies.

It is impossible to imagine that there would be problems with the door frame when hanging the doors or that the width of the window openings would not meet the standards. Such offenses were severely punished.

Today, when the construction of residential areas is given to private structures, houses are built according to special projects. Some have large windows, some have small ones. The same applies to balcony blocks and interior doors.

Standard typical microdistricts are slowly becoming a thing of the past. But if plastic bags are installed initially in new houses, then owners of secondary housing are out of luck in this regard. You will have to replace them at your own expense, but you can choose the color at your discretion.

Kinds

It is customary to subdivide plastic doors according to the method of opening - swing, folding, sliding, tilt and turn. And according to location - entrance, interior and balcony.

Plastic doors in the apartments of the average citizen of the country, as a rule, are most often found in balcony blocks. This is primarily due to the fact that when installing triple-glazed windows and a five-chamber profile, you get “warm” doors, that is, doors that do not let the cold in from the street.

You can rarely find interior plastic doors in an apartment. They are more in demand in office centers and shopping complexes. Moreover, equipping them with a locking mechanism is not such a big problem.

In cottages, for safety reasons, it is customary to install plastic doors without a threshold

This is especially important in families with small children. When the threshold does not physically exist, the risk of injury from falling is eliminated

Another important feature of doors made of this material is that they are moisture resistant. It is because of this that they are very often installed in swimming pools and in rooms with unglazed balconies.

Plastic and glass repel water and prevent it from entering the room

A blind door is most often installed in technical rooms - in utility rooms or in security offices. In this case, glass is replaced with plastic, which guarantees “protection” from prying eyes.

The folding plastic door turned out to be less in demand. It is mainly installed in small spaces. Doors of this type do not retain heat and do not prevent the penetration of noise. They serve as a kind of partition between one and the second room. But to be fair, when open, the space is not cluttered and their cost is quite low.

By the way, sliding options also save space in the room. In terms of opening, they have something in common with sliding wardrobes. Unfortunately, they are more widely used abroad, in those countries where there are practically no low temperatures, and not in countries with a sharply continental climate.

Swinging double-leaf (also called double) plastic doors will suit almost any interior. Because you can use a huge number of different solutions as decor, ranging from the color component to stylization for a classic design.

Materials

For quite some time now, the debate has not subsided which is better - veneer or plastic. Proponents of the first claim that wood is an environmentally friendly material. Supporters of the second turn this plus into a minus.

Indeed, precisely because of their natural origin, such products must be carefully looked after, treated annually against pests and painted.

But when using a colored PVC profile, you can achieve not only the desired result indoors, but also forget about painting like a bad dream. At the same time, the façade of the building can also be painted in any color. As a rule, if it is an apartment building, then a universal white profile is used.

In order to at least partially resolve this dispute, designers, together with manufacturers, recently presented a special version, which uses white plastic on the outside and MDF lamination on the inside.

This product is not afraid of either rain or ultraviolet radiation, and in the room you get the feeling that the door is made entirely of wood.

When the customer does not need to hide the room from prying eyes, he prefers all-glass plastic doors. Although they cost a little more, transparency is guaranteed.

In the opposite situation, experts recommend installing a technical product (with a complete replacement of glass with a sandwich panel). In this case, in addition to solving the problem, it is also possible to save money.

Remember that if careless installers are too lazy to tear off the special protective film after installing the plastic product, you need to do this yourself.

And preferably within a month, otherwise the film may completely ruin the appearance of the window or door. This is especially noticeable on large structures.

Doors with double glazing

The design of such plastic entrance doors is a frame with a double-glazed window fixed in the opening, having a chamber structure. Depending on the profile used, the structure can be equipped with 3-7-chamber double-glazed windows. The necessary rigidity is ensured through the use of reinforced reinforcement.

Plastic doors with installed double-glazed windows are manufactured without doors. The package itself is a structure of 2-3 glasses, hermetically connected to each other at a certain distance. The space between the glasses is filled with dry air or inert gas.

The fittings for such doors are no different from the fittings used in ordinary plastic doors and plastic windows: hinges, handles, internal trim. The only difference is that due to the slightly increased weight, it is necessary to facilitate the closing and opening of the door, as well as to ensure the tightness and tight fit of the door to the frame.

Entrance doors made of plastic with installed double-glazed windows must not only be periodically cleaned of various contaminants, but also the operation of their fittings must be regularly checked. Machine oil or special lubricants should be used to lubricate metal parts. You can adjust and maintain the fittings yourself, but it is better to entrust this process to an experienced technician.

Recommendations for increasing service life

Use only light detergents; options for washing acrylic bathtubs, dishes and the like work well.

Pay attention to how tightly the door is pressed against the frame. The stronger it is, the longer it will last.

Plastic doors need adjustment.

Selection of plastic entrance doors

Due to their increasing popularity, plastic entrance doors are being manufactured by an increasing number of manufacturers, using various brands of profiles and fittings, developing the design and design of products. Therefore, making a choice can be quite difficult.

When choosing a plastic door, you should pay special attention to such important parameters as:

  • Profile brand;
  • The quality of the frame;
  • Interior and exterior finishing;
  • Reliability of installed locks and hinges;
  • The build quality of the glass unit and the number of cameras;
  • Tightness;
  • Material used as insulation.

Let's take a closer look at these parameters.

Finishing

When finishing a plastic entrance door, lamination or painting is usually used.

When laminating, mainly wooden and stone materials are used. When choosing wood finishes, many designers recommend choosing the colors “mahogany” or “dark cherry”, which are suitable for almost any interior. When painting, you can choose any shade you like.

In any case, the decoration of the door should be thought out in advance, since after lamination or painting it will be very difficult to change it.

Frame design

The reliability of a plastic entrance door directly depends on the strength characteristics of the frame and the rigidity of the door frame. A steel frame must be installed inside the frame along its entire perimeter, the walls of which are much thicker than the walls of a similar frame installed in windows.

At the corners of the box, to increase rigidity, the frame is connected using special metal elements. It is also recommended to choose a five-chamber profile rather than a three-chamber one.

Profile

The sash itself should also have a five-chamber profile. Inside the door, frames can be of different structures and shapes.

The best would be a frame with transverse and longitudinal stiffeners. Its appearance resembles a grid of several horizontal and vertical square pipes.

Lock systems

Like any entrance door, a plastic one must also be equipped with locks that are locked along the entire perimeter, that is, when closing, the bolts must slide along each side of the door.

Loops

The closest attention should be paid to door hinges. The best option is hinges with anti-removal protection.

They are powerful enough to withstand the weight of the door along with double-glazed windows and even welded metal sheets.

Double-glazed window

When choosing an entrance door made of plastic with a double-glazed window installed, you should know that in all its characteristics it must be superior to analogues used in PVC windows

First of all, you should pay attention to the type of glass: it is recommended to choose triplex or armored

It is advisable to choose a door with a glazing area that does not exceed a third of the total area of the door leaf. Plastic entrance doors with large glass, although beautiful both in photos and in real life, are not very practical in our climatic conditions. It is better to install a double-glazed window in the upper part; accordingly, the bottom and middle of the structure will be deaf.

Choice of insulation

There is no special need to insulate a plastic entrance door, since it copes well with negative temperatures on its own. But with constant operation at temperatures below -15 °C, insulation will still be required. When manufacturing a door at a factory, insulation can be placed both in the frame itself and in the air chambers. In plastic doors, thermal insulation material is placed between the stiffening ribs, along the entire perimeter of the frame, or directly into individual air chambers.

Tightness

The tightness of the plastic entrance door is ensured by placing rubber seals in special grooves along the entire outer perimeter of the door leaf and the inner perimeter of the frame.

It would also be a good idea to equip the threshold with a rubber seal.

When choosing a plastic door as an entrance structure instead of doors made of other materials (wood, metal), it is necessary to take into account such an important factor as cost. The price of such doors can be an order of magnitude lower, but the quality and reliability are in no way inferior to similar structures made of wood or metal.

GOST

Production standards at the legislative level regulate the ability to choose a quality product. According to GOST, metal-plastic doors are divided into external and internal, solid and glazed, with different structural features, with variable types of finishing.

The solid door leaf has an opaque appearance. It can be plain or with an architectural design. Glazing is done with double-glazed windows or any other glass that meets safety requirements.

As for the design, plastic entrance doors are divided into:

  • Single-leaf and double-leaf. Doors with two leaves, in turn, are divided into models with leaves of the same and different widths;
  • With an opening and fixed sash;
  • With or without a frame;
  • With and without threshold;
  • According to the number of chambers (layers) in the profile, two-, three-, four- and five-chamber.

In addition, GOST regulates the thickness of insulation for different-chamber profiles (16, 20, 24 mm), sound insulation level (at least 26 dBA), air permeability, number of door openings (500,000), conditional service life of individual elements (profile - 40 years, double-glazed windows - 20 years, fittings and insulation - up to 10).
