How to choose a profile

The choice of profile depends primarily on the room in which it will be used. Certain systems are suitable for different situations: Blitz New and Thermo are suitable for homes located away from noise sources. These include dachas or apartments in residential areas. Grazio, Delight, Brilliant are best used for glazing country houses, rooms facing the roadway or requiring the maximum level of silence (bedrooms and children's rooms).

REHAU SIB-Design

REHAU Sib-Design was developed specifically for the Russian market. The most important advantages are comfort and thermal insulation. An additional chamber between the inner and reinforcing wall of the profile retains heat. It is possible to install thicker glass units up to 41 mm thick.

Main characteristics:

  • system depth – 70 mm.
  • number of cameras – 3 cameras.
  • glass unit thickness – up to 41 mm.
  • thermal insulation – Rdef=0.71 m2 °C/W.
  • reinforced locking devices for increased burglary safety
  • two independent sealing circuits ensuring water and air tightness

What to pay attention to

We compared Rehau profiles according to their most important characteristics. But your final choice will depend on many factors. Where are you planning glazing, what is your priority - warmth or silence in the room. What climate zone do you live in? Or maybe you need a design of non-standard sizes. In short, the Blitz profile is suitable for the windows of a summer house, Thermo is suitable for an apartment with windows facing the courtyard, ntelio is for regions with harsh winters, Delight is for windows of complex shapes in designer interiors, and Geneo is for maximum heat, noise insulation and comfort.

REHAU BRILLANT-Design

The BRILLANT-Design profile belongs to the premium segment and has increased heat and sound insulation.

Main characteristics:

  • system depth – 70 (80) mm.

Features Delight 70 mm

This is the next price category in the Rehau line. The profile belongs to the luxury class. offers to order Rehau Delight 70 on the website - here, in addition to choosing a profile and its parameters, you can call a measurer and consult on all questions. This profile differs from Gratio:

  • using white seals, which improves aesthetics;
  • ability to transmit 10% more sunlight;
  • the ability to reflect heat, keeping it in the apartment;
  • using an elegant figured glazing bead.

The surface of the profile is smooth and glossy. It can also be laminated to resemble wood or any shade of the RAL palette. A special feature of Rehau Delight is that it is equipped with 40 mm double-glazed windows, which can include glass 4 and 6 mm thick that can reflect thermal energy. As a result, heat waves remain inside the apartment, which allows you to save on heating in winter, and in summer only light passes through the window, which prevents the rapid heating of the room.

REHAU GENEO

A unique new generation energy-saving system using fiber composite materials provides very high thermal insulation. Thanks to the RAU-FIPRO material, which replaces steel reinforcing elements, the weight of the window is significantly less.

Main characteristics:

  • system depth – 86 mm.
  • number of cameras – 6 cameras.
  • glass unit thickness – up to 44 mm.
  • thermal insulation – Rdef=1.05 m2 °C/W.
  • sound insulation – 47 dB(A), with glazing 50 dB(A)
  • burglary safety – above class 2.
  • saving energy costs up to 76%.
  • reinforced locking devices for increased burglary safety
  • two independent sealing circuits ensuring water and air tightness
  • convection limiter
  • smart comfort

Profile selection criteria

Based on the results of comparing different series, you can choose a design for a specific request:

  • The laconic Blitz is suitable for glazing business centers, residential buildings and industrial facilities, which fits well into the urban landscape with multi-storey buildings.
  • The Delight profile is the most elegant, its design can be created individually to suit specific needs. The best choice for glazing cottages.
  • The Geneo system has a lightweight design, making it suitable for installation in old buildings whose elements are not designed for high loads.
  • To achieve maximum light transmission, the windows use the Grazio profile, which has two special frames. Not suitable for creating large structures.

Which plastic window profile is better to choose?

One of the most important elements when choosing a plastic window is its profile, since it is this that is an indicator of the strength and, accordingly, durability of the overall structure.

Today there are a huge number of companies producing plastic windows and, if you visually look at them, they have practically no differences. The difference in quality can be seen after some time, when window deformations become noticeable, namely the formation of cracks and distortions.

Profile for PVC windows, main characteristics and types

The profile represents the basis of the overall window structure, which is made of wood and aluminum. But today window profiles are mainly made of PVC or polyvinyl chloride. Due to the fact that they have metal inserts, they are quite durable. And the presence of internal, air cavities makes it possible to significantly increase thermal insulation.

As for the characteristics of plastic windows, they are classified according to European standards, this mainly concerns the thickness of the external and internal walls of the window profile. These include:

  • Class A profiles. This is one of the most optimal profiles that have good noise and thermal insulation. Its outer wall is 2.8 mm thick, and its inner wall is 2.5 mm thick;
  • Class B profiles. The width of the walls of this profile is slightly different from class A and therefore they are cheaper and less durable. Because the thickness of the external profile is from 2.5 mm. but the internal one is only 2.0 mm;
  • Profiles of class C. Window profiles that do not belong to class A and B are not subject to such strict requirements.

Important: the quality of the profile can also be indicated by the fact that on each bottom there should be a special marking, which is located on the inside of the package. It indicates the manufacturer, the date they were manufactured, as well as the shift number.

The width of the plastic profile, which one to choose, what affects it, 60 or 70 mm | All about plastic windows

Almost all manufacturers of plastic profiles, both domestic and foreign, have a product range that is not limited to one product. Typically this is a line of five to six products of different widths and numbers of chambers. Moreover, it is not really explained anywhere which one is better, what these indicators influence, and why one should choose one or the other.

It is worth noting that products with a width of 70 and 80 mm appeared not so long ago, about fifteen years ago, and before that there were only 60 mm products. Experts recommend these systems for private glazing, motivating the buyer by the fact that they allow less cold to pass through. However, studies conducted, conducted by the manufacturers themselves, indicate that with the same number of chambers, products with a size of 70 mm are only a few percent warmer. Despite the fact that windows from a larger system can be ten percent or even thirty more expensive.

60 mm profile systems such as Rehau Euro Design or Veka EUROLINE are now positioned by sellers as economy class products that are used for mass glazing of residential buildings, for example new buildings. But, some time ago, they were recommended for private glazing, and even in our country there are thousands of such windows, and their owners do not complain about the lack of heat if the seal is properly cared for.

So, if only this indicator affected the heat in your home, the manufacturers themselves would strive to increase it, and this indicator would reach 100 and 200 mm. However, this does not happen and the maximum known width is 90mm. So it’s not this at all, but something else.

In fact, the thermal conductivity of profiles is affected by multi-chamber. According to research, a product of the same width, but with a different number of chambers, can differ in thermal conductivity by twenty percent or more. Therefore, it is worth paying attention to this indicator. A four-chamber profile is much warmer than a three-chamber profile, even if there is less of it. In harsh climates, you should pay attention to five-chamber systems.

Conclusion: the width is not as important as the number of cameras. The more chambers, the more heat will remain in your house or apartment.
