Physical characteristics of windows
2.1 Window thermal protection
The level of heat-protective properties of the profile is measured by the KST (heat transfer resistance coefficient). This indicator is formed from the ratio of the temperature at the edge of the profile to the density of the air inside. The higher the coefficient, the better the heat is retained in the room, the less cold air enters.
2.2 Waterproofing windows
In homes, moisture is always an unwelcome “surprise”. This is especially true for those areas where its concentration is high even without additional penetration from the outside, for example, kitchens and bathrooms. The waterproofing characteristics of the profile depend entirely on the shape and quality of the seal (elastic gasket between the frame and the sash). Today, EPDM (ethylene propylene rubber) has become the most universal material for the production of seals. It does not lose its properties at low temperatures, does not deform when compressed, bent or stretched.

The standard REHAU seal has two blades and there is no additional air space.
Practice has shown that the form of the seal in Rehau window systems is the most practical. Due to the fact that the petals do not concentrate moisture, the problem of condensation does not arise. The service life of such a seal increases by 3-4 years.

2.3 Strength characteristics of the profile
Plastic serves as the main material in the window manufacturing process. However, it is not able to withstand on its own the pressure from the double-glazed window and negative environmental factors. Therefore, PVC profiles with a length of over 500 mm, according to GOST, are subject to mandatory reinforcement. The reinforcing insert is a metal profile made of galvanized tape (thickness 1.5-2 mm). The quality of this part is largely influenced by its shape; it can be U-shaped or closed square. The quality characteristics of this part depend on its shape.
When reinforcing Veka profiles, square profiles are used to a greater extent. Various options are possible for KBE and REHAU windows, most often a G-shaped or square profile. The first one is more durable than the square one, but the square one significantly wins in terms of stability and rigidity.
2.5 External characteristics, difficulty of maintenance during operation
Window systems REHAU, KBE and Veka are distinguished by a wide range of products that vary in functionality and external characteristics.
