Number of air chambers

Three- and five-chamber profiles

As a rule, budget systems have 3–4 chambers (cavities), which are enough to prevent the formation of condensation and reduce heat loss at facilities in central Russia. Veka only has the Euroline profile with 3 chambers, REHAU has two three-chamber solutions - Basic and Euro Design. REHAU also produces one four-chamber Thermo Design system. You can select profiles from two manufacturers with 4 cameras and in the middle price niche. These are Veka Proline and REHAU Delight.

5- and 6-chamber products with a higher coefficient of heat transfer resistance retain heat most effectively. The six-chamber Alphaline system from VEKA has a parameter of 0.94, while the Brillant Design from REHAU is slightly lower - 0.79.

The maximum number of cameras is 7. That’s how many Veka SoftLine 82 have.

In terms of thermal protection, the systems of both manufacturers are equivalent.

Whose windows are warmer?

The main task of PVC windows is to protect interior spaces from the influence of cold air from outside. To determine the advantages of a particular system, it is necessary to compare the values of the thermal insulation coefficient for products of equivalent (in terms of the number of chambers) products. Comparable models have the following meanings:

  • Century – 1.09 m2xS/W;
  • Rehau – 1.05 m2xS/W.

It turns out that Veka products have a higher coefficient , which means the products will better protect the apartment and retain heat indoors.

Number of sealing circuits

Two- and three-circuit seals from REHAU

A standard window with swinging sashes is equipped with two seals that block the cold. The three-circuit seal is more reliable, as it is considered reinforced. The Geneo system from REHAU is equipped with it. Three sealing lobes effectively seal gaps and insulate heat. The quality of sealing rubber from REHAU is much higher.

REHAU offers the most insulated series with three sealing contours.

Type of reinforcement

Types of reinforcement

To prevent the plastic from bending and breaking under the weight of the structure, it must be reinforced with a metal profile - reinforced. There are 3 types of reinforcement of different shapes. This is L-, U-shaped and closed reinforcement.

REHAU reinforces plastic with U-shaped metal inserts; Veka, in almost all series, reinforces the profile with hollow tubes with a square cross-section, which is why volumetric PVC systems from this manufacturer are stronger.

Veka windows are stronger, as they are reinforced along the entire perimeter, but their cost is higher.

Advantages

Both manufacturers produce high-quality products that have their own advantages. The main advantages of VEKA:

  • Durable, thick-walled construction with a matte finish.
  • Increased rigidity and resistance to deformation due to closed steel reinforcement.
  • The frame does not deform or crack under the influence of moisture, ultraviolet radiation and temperature changes.
  • There are no gaps between the impost and the frame, which eliminates blowing.
  • The protruding glazing bead ensures easy maintenance.

The advantages of REHAU include:

  • Huge selection of technological solutions and design.
  • Excellent noise and heat insulation, impenetrable barrier to moisture and dust.
  • Maximum sunlight transmission due to the thin frame and sashes.
  • An innovative RAUCELL seal that has no competitors on the market.
  • They can have a non-standard shape - round, triangular, trapezoid.
  • Cool designer doors, metallic lamination, wood effect and any shade from the RAL catalogue.
  • The original can be easily verified by laser engraving.
  • Extensive range - you can choose a profile for a country house, business center, unheated outbuildings.

The installation width is the depth of the window block. For budget systems such as Veka Euroline or REHAU Basic, it is 60 mm. Most profiles in the mid-price segment from both manufacturers have an installation depth of 70 mm. Veka Topline+ profiles with an installation width of 104 mm are thicker and warmer. They are designed for the same glass bags with a maximum thickness as the GENEO analogue from REHAU.

The companies' products do not differ in installation depth.

Which company has the best waterproofing?

The waterproofing indicator of a window block is important for areas with high humidity. The fact is that with weak protection, moisture penetrates between the glass of the bag, resulting in condensation, and then mold grows.

Protection of the structure from moisture penetration is ensured by special seals made of elastic materials, which are used to lay the junctions of the sash and frame, profile and glass.

Both companies use EPDM rubber seals, but Veka uses single-leaf products, and Rehau uses double-leaf products, which have a service life of 3 years longer; accordingly, Rehau windows are superior to their competitor .

Maximum glass thickness

Double glazing of PVC windows

Thicker glass packages provide higher thermal and sound insulation. The Basic, Euro and Thermo systems from REHAU, suitable for thin 35 mm glass filling, are not the best solution for houses on busy streets. With them, street noise makes itself felt.

For reliable sound protection, it is better to choose GENEO or DELIGHT profiles from the same manufacturer, designed for thicker filling (53 and 40 mm, respectively). The plastic of these series, together with a thick glass package, effectively blocks sounds from the street. This combination prevents the formation of condensation due to the installation of a two-chamber package with different chamber volumes.

The glass filling width of 50 mm for Alphaline PVC from VEKA, sufficient for installing a three-chamber double-glazed window, significantly affects the cost of glazing.

REHAU and VEKA produce profiles suitable for thick glass bags with 2-3 chambers. The advantage in filling thickness is with REHAU, whose Delight system is designed for double-glazed windows with a record thickness of 53 mm!

Aesthetics and convenience

Both manufacturers have a wide range of products. It’s not difficult to choose something suitable in terms of function and appearance. Windows may differ in shape, dimensions, profile color or surface texture. Products from both concerns are decorated with lamination and tinting, open in different directions, equipped with mosquito nets, and provide climate control. Plastic does not require special care. It is enough to wipe the windows from dust and wash them from time to time.

In terms of aesthetics, the VEKA and REHAU systems are not inferior to each other. Many REHAU profiles are superior to VEKA analogues in terms of smoothness - they are easier to care for and need to be cleaned less often.

What is the difference between the Veka and KBE profiles and what do they have in common?

The manufacturer Veka strives to achieve high durability of its products. KBE pays great attention to the environmental friendliness of materials and aesthetic appearance while maintaining reliability and service life. It is necessary to compare the technical characteristics of both windows. Both companies' product range consists of 10 different series of window profiles. The most popular KBE models of this series are: “Etalon”, “Expert”, “Select”, Softline, “Proline” and others.

Of all the Expert models, it has the widest frame, which reduces heat loss. Therefore, even the 3-chamber package has improved thermal performance. According to the climatic characteristics of the window, experts advise choosing KBE and the Alphaline model from Veka in cold regions. Other models can be installed in the central and southern regions. Economy class products lose in design, since their seal is black. Later models have gray seals. KBE is designed for continental climate conditions.

This profile is resistant to frost and heat; it can withstand heating up to + 75°C and not deform.

KBE has the following advantage: lead is not used in the production of the product. It has been replaced with a healthy and toxin-free material consisting of calcium and zinc. The production of products containing lead is not prohibited by the standard, but the presence of lead is not recommended for windows that will be installed in residential buildings.

For clinics, catering establishments, and children's institutions, it is better to install KBE windows, since their material complies with sanitary and environmental standards and is completely safe for health. Veka contains lead, although in small quantities. In all other respects, “Veka” corresponds to the characteristics of KBE. To find out which is better: Veka or KBE windows, you need to analyze their technical characteristics.

What to choose, REHAU or VEKA?

Let's summarize the article and briefly formulate how each of the profiles will be useful for you.

Advantages of the REHAU profile:

  1. There are options with a reliable three-circuit seal, which provides better heat retention.
  2. Windows and doors are cheaper than those from VEKO.
  3. The maximum thickness of the glass unit filling is 53 mm, this provides higher noise and heat insulation.
  4. It does not require special care.

Advantages of the VEKA profile:

  1. Profile reinforcement along the entire perimeter provides additional strength.
  2. Seven chambers in the profile of the Veka SoftLine 82 model, versus six chambers in the Rehau BRILLANT-Design, provide better thermal insulation.

Each concern improves technology and offers high-quality products that are attractive in appearance and easy to use. In any case, it is up to the buyer to choose the appropriate solution. It’s not easy to decide, so we turned to an expert. To the question “Which is better - REHAU or VEKA systems?” the specialist answers:

“Veka reinforces plastic with metal in a closed loop and offers stronger profiles. But REHAU U-shaped reinforcement also provides sufficient strength. The advantages of the REHAU PVC profile are a stronger seal and longer service life. Therefore, if tightness and durability are a priority, it is better to choose the REHAU system. Such windows will last up to 60 years.”

conclusions

So, all the main parameters have been considered, and now you can decide: Veka or Rehau plastic windows - which is better? All important points of choice can be reduced to several points:

  • The main motive for choosing a particular system is primarily the price. Rehau is the leader in this parameter with its economical model.
  • The next significant factor is the competence of the company that installs windows. You should carefully study real customer reviews and, if possible, talk with experienced craftsmen who can tell you which brand is best to use in a particular case.
  • If the consumer makes his choice based on the main tasks that the windows must perform, he should pay attention to specific models in the product line of each manufacturer. To ensure reliable thermal protection, it is recommended to choose Geneo Rehau or Alfaline Century, and if increased noise insulation is needed, it is better to install Geneo Design Rehau. v In terms of declared service life, Rehau is in the lead, whose products must last at least 60 years, in contrast to 40 years for Veka.
