How to sew a curtain for the kitchen with an arch with your own hands
Ready-made arch curtains are sold in showrooms, but if you wish, you can make them yourself. Creating such a curtain is a rather labor-intensive process, but the result will be a unique product.
First you need to decide on the size of the future curtain, its design and fabric for sewing:
- The width of the arch curtain corresponds to the length of the cornice with an extra five centimeters for finishing the edge.
- We also add a few centimeters to the desired length for allowances.
To sew an arched curtain, you will need a pattern.
Note! To form folds and pomp, up to 15-20% must be added to the width of the curtain; sometimes it can be two or even three times the length of the curtain rod.
Sewing arch curtains for the kitchen with your own hands requires a pattern. This can be a simple model, when the length and width are marked on the fabric, and the bottom is cut in a semicircle. Or a more complex option:
- Fold the fabric in half lengthwise. From the top point in the center we begin to draw a semicircle. Its radius should correspond to one third of the window width.
- Cut the resulting semicircle until it becomes a straight line.
- We sew a gathering braid onto it.
- From the bottom point of the curtain on the side where the arch should be, draw an oblique line to the beginning of the cut out semicircle.

- Curtains assembled from scraps are sewn with lining.
- The upper part of the curtains is often reinforced (especially for soft tissues).
- If you use a fabric with an edge to make a curtain, you will not need additional processing of the sides.
- Lambrequin and tiebacks are calculated and cut out separately. For the first decorative element you will need approximately 1.5 m of fabric. It will take about a meter to pick it up.
- For decoration you can use: ribbons, straps, fringe, beads, embroidery, applique.

How to hang and tie curtains correctly
