Salamander plastic windows were developed by a German company that began its life on the Russian market as an excellent and high-quality shoe brand. The need to find new applications for existing products pushed Salamander to explore previously unexplored areas.
And as a result of the search for an alternative material for the production of shoes, the development of synthetic materials began, which marked the beginning of the production of PVC profiles . The mastery of new technologies for the development of innovative synthetic compounds prompted the company's management to start producing PVC profiles for the manufacture of doors and windows according to European quality standards. This is how one of the elite types of windows appeared on the Russian market - Salamander plastic windows.
Since 2002, the SALAMANDER Industrie-Produkte GmbH group of companies has united under its leadership two manufacturers of high-quality German PVC profiles, producing their products under the SALAMANDER and BRUGMANN trademarks.
German PVC profiles under the Salamander brand have been confidently gaining popularity since 1973 both in Europe and Russia. Many years of improvement and development of Salamander products allows it to confidently declare the excellent and guaranteed quality of its products. This is confirmed by recognition not only in the Russian but also in the global market of this industry.
During this time, the company has become one of the leading European manufacturers of polyvinyl chloride profiles for translucent structures and offers its partners well-known profile systems: Design 2D, Design 3D, Streamline , as well as the Brugmann AD profile system. Since 2010, Salamander Industrie-Produkte has been producing the completely new energy-efficient system bluEvolution .
Innovative ideas and thoughtful design solutions, which over time have become classics and shaped trends in the further development of design and technology in their industry, allow the company to constantly expand its market segment. PVC profiles developed by Salamander and widely represented on the Russian market are the embodiment of the ideal in price/quality ratio, luxury of the highest class at an excellent price.
Technical characteristics and main advantages
Salamander Streamline A class (Germany) is distinguished not only by its attractive design and snow-white color of the frame walls and sashes, but also by its excellent technical characteristics. characteristics.
- Installation width - 76 mm ;
- 5 cameras in frame and sash;
- The thickness of the outer walls of the main profiles is at least 3 mm , which ensures higher strength of the weld;
- Thanks to the presence of an inclined plane, a collector and a 4 mm shutter in the catchment chamber, the rapid removal of rainwater and condensate from the frame/sash rebate is ensured even during rainfall, and thanks to the dam, water does not seep under the glazing bead even when the sash is tilted;
- Metal amplifiers do not come into contact with the walls of the intensifying chamber due to special protrusions on the walls of the intensifying chamber, which reduces heat loss along the walls of the amplifier and increases the thermal resistance of the profile;
- A semicircular collector groove in the frame/sash rebate makes it easier to position the cutter when milling drainage grooves - there is less risk of damaging the reinforcing chamber in the profile;
- Reinforcing bosses in the frame wall at the place where the fitting hinges are attached make it possible to achieve the highest levels of tear-off strength of the fastening;
- The offset of the axis of fastening of the fittings in the sash is 13 mm in relation to the edge of the frame, which allows the use of stronger locking strips;
- Impact resistance at negative temperatures: 10 out of 10 samples at -30°C without damage ;
- Identical reinforcement for frame and sash, possibility of using closed reinforcement in structures with increased static requirements;
- The heat transfer resistance is R = 0.77 m 2 °C/W .
Among the advantageous features it is worth highlighting:
- The presence of sagging on the internal walls, which ensures strong fastening of all parts
- Separately rolled sealing rubber , not extradited into the profile, which provides even higher noise and heat insulation.
A special point in the list of advantages is the presence of a “labyrinth” of internal profile partitions. Due to this, the static load is distributed more evenly, which significantly reduces the load on the “weakest” parts: the handle and hinges.
Also, everyone who installed Salamander Streamline windows appreciated the presence of an inclined catchment, a collector and a special shutter. This system ensures immediate removal of condensate and does not allow rainwater to flow under the glazing bead, even in a rainstorm when the window sash is open.
Salamander Streamline A class windows (Germany) use more powerful fittings, which are durable and stable compared to conventional ones. This became possible due to an increase in the indentation of the axis of the fittings.
In the manufacture of Salamander Streamline A class windows (Germany), no recycled materials are used , which helps to increase the service life of structures, their strength and resistance to negative influence factors.
The profiles of this model are the best solution for those who know the value of functionality and comfort.

Reviews for PVC windows
Based on the statistics of reviews left on the Otzovik website about Rehau and Salamander windows for 2022, we can conclude that the popularity and trust in the first one is higher - 93% of positive opinions compared to 75% in favor of Salamander. Such indicators are primarily justified by the popularity of Rehau in the window glazing market and, as a result, the variety of dealers from which you can choose a reliable manufacturer. There are a limited number of organizations installing Salamander, which reduces the possibility of finding a quality contractor.
Salamander 2D
Salamander brand profile systems are distinguished by impeccable plastic quality, whiteness and surface gloss. Salamander takes care of the end user, guaranteeing a thickness of load-bearing walls of at least 3 mm with sufficient thickness of internal partitions, which ultimately significantly affects the strength of the weld and the service life of the finished product.
The Design-2D system offers time-tested design solutions and always impeccable style from Salamander.
The Design 2D system is an example of classic profile systems. This system represents the optimal balance of technical characteristics and classic design.
Various combinations of 3- and 4-chamber profiles with an installation width of 60 mm allow for optimal thermal protection and static rigidity of structures. The strict lines of the outer contour of the profile, along with the traditional Salamander rounding radius of 5 mm, create the unique external design of this system.
Wide internal chambers increase thermal resistance, remote tides prevent the reinforcing profile from coming into contact with the plastic, in addition, the very location of the reinforcing profile creates additional air chambers.
The rebate width allows for all known types of glazing, for example: heat-saving glazing, glazing with an increased degree of penetration protection, soundproof glazing and other non-standard types of glazing.

Salamander Streamline
5-chamber Streamline thanks to increased installation width
76 mm offers its customers improved thermal protection and noise insulation. The reduced heat transfer resistance is R = 0.77 m2 °C/W (with reinforcement). In this way, Salamander is once again making the high standards of the window industry available to a wide segment of the market.
Along with the external design of this brand that customers have already liked, the Streamlay n system has also retained the proven technical features of existing systems, namely the sagging on the internal walls of the profile, which ensure reliable fastening of the fittings elements and thereby high protection of the entire window structure.
The tendency to “improve what has already been proven” is confirmed by the presence of a “labyrinth” of internal partitions the Streamline system Thanks to this labyrinth, static loads are rationally distributed over the entire cross-section of the profile, which is especially important for loads in the area where the handle and hinge group are attached.
Main characteristics
- installation width 76 mm,
- external wall thickness >2.8 mm (A class),
- retractable EPDM seals,
- wide range of colors of smooth and wood-imitating films,
- in the case of white windows - smooth, shiny surfaces,
- guarantee of snow-white Salamander (the whitest profiles on the market).
Comparison of profiles by characteristics
When choosing between Salamander or Rehau, you need to analyze:
- thickness of the outer wall;
- type of reinforcement;
- number of air chambers;
- installation depth of PVC profiles;
- the greatest thickness of the glass unit;
- sound and heat insulation;
- waterproofing and quality of sealants used;
- appearance and service life.
All parameters are interconnected, so each one should be studied.
Thickness of the outer wall of the profile
The indicator affects the wear resistance of windows. GOST divides PVC profiles into classes A and B. The first category includes products with an outer wall of three or more millimeters. If the outer plastic is thinner than 3 mm, the design is classified in the second category.
All plastic window profiles produced by Salamander belong to class A - they are made of three-millimeter polyvinyl chloride. The Rehau company produces window designs of categories A and B. The Blitz economy series has an external wall of 2.8 mm - this is class B. The remaining models fit into the high standard of class A, having a thickness of 3 mm.
Reinforcement type
PVC is a rather fragile substance. To withstand the load exerted by heavy glass, wind and the profiles’ own weight, reinforcement is required - galvanized steel strip 1.5-2 mm thick, which is installed inside the window frames. The shape of the reinforcement provides additional strength. Salamander windows use U-shaped metal inserts or square-section fittings. Rehau products are equipped with G-shaped reinforcement, which reduces weight while slightly reducing strength. An exception is the Rehau Geneo profile system: here, instead of steel, fiber fiber is used, which lightens the structure by 40% and maintains load-bearing capacity with resistance to loads.
Number of air chambers
You can determine which windows are better in specific conditions, Salamander or Rehau, by their chamberness - the voids inside the profiles. These cavities are separated by partitions. This design prevents the outside cold from penetrating into the premises. The more internal voids, the warmer the room, and the more street noise is muffled. Each cavity reduces the sound level by 8-10 dB.
The Salamander company produces windows with 3 to 6 voids. The competing company Rehau is not lagging behind - it also produces structures with a similar number of chambers - from 3 to 6.
Installation depth of PVC profiles
This parameter affects both the strength of the window and the ability to protect from external cold and precipitation. The wider the profile, the thicker the glass unit can be installed.
The smallest thickness of Salamander plastic windows is 6 cm. It has a Design 2D profile. This is the minimum standard suitable for central Russia. The maximum thickness of the BluEvolution profile is 92 mm, so it is suitable for the coldest regions of the country.
The minimum installation depth of Rehau windows is also 6 cm. It is characteristic of the Blitz series, suitable for warm and temperate climates. Unlike Salamander PVC windows, Rehau products reach a thickness of only 86 mm - the Geneo series has this, suitable for all climatic zones.
Maximum glass thickness
One of the most important parameters for selection, directly affecting the level of protection from cold and street noise. If the thickness of the glass unit is insufficient, even luxury windows, for example, Salamander 3D Design or Rehau Brilliant, will not save you from heat loss. For good thermal insulation, there must be at least two chambers inside the double-glazed window. Single-chamber structures are only permissible for cold glazing of balconies or non-residential premises.
Salamander wins in terms of the greatest glass thickness. BluEvolution 92 profiles allow you to install a glass package up to 6 cm. The maximum available for Rehau is 52 mm in the Geneo profile system.
Sound and heat insulation
All previous parameters affect the final degree of isolation from the street. To compare thermal insulation indicators, the heat transfer resistance coefficient - KST is used. In the window formula, this value is at the end. For example, for Salamander Streamline the parameters look like this: 76/5/2/0.91, where 76 is the profile thickness, 5 is the chamberness, 2 is the number of sealing contours and 0.91 is the CST.
The highest KST of Salamander PVC windows is 1.25 in the BluEvolution 92 series. The most heat-insulating product from Rehau is the Geneo system with a coefficient of 1.05.
The level of sound insulation is measured in decibels absorbed by the window structure. The quietest Rehau profile is Geneo, damping 47 dB. The maximum sound insulation value of Salamander windows is the same: 47 dB. It is inherent in the BluEvolution series. Products of both brands with these characteristics are ideal for installation in houses near noisy metropolitan highways or railways.
Waterproofing and quality of sealants used
The degree of waterproofing is affected by seals - rubber gaskets located between the frame and the sash, the sash and the glass.
Windows produced by Salamander are equipped with two or three sealing circuits. The seals of this brand are tubular in shape.
Rehau products are also accompanied by two or three sealing circuits. However, seals of this brand consist of two hermetically connected petals. This shape, coupled with improved rubber, provides increased durability and functionality.
Appearance and service life
Windows from two manufacturers are famous for their best aesthetic properties. The surface of Salamander products can be glossy or matte, while Rehau’s is exclusively glossy. Products from both companies can be laminated, painted in any color, decorated with stained glass or decorative layouts.
Manufacturers of Salamander windows guarantee operation for 45 years. Rehau representatives promise service for a period of 60 years.
