Aluminum system Provedal p 400

“Vedal” p400 assumes swing glazing. Products with single glasses are installed on the balcony; their maximum thickness can reach 7 mm. The heat in the room will not be retained, so the temperature on the loggia in winter will be only a couple of degrees higher than that outside.

If you need to make warm glazing, it is worth installing a single glass unit. Its maximum thickness reaches 16 mm. This will make the loggia 8-10°C warmer compared to the street. This model is characterized by high fire safety.

The sound insulation level of the profile is 20-27 dB. If compared with window systems made of PVC, this level cannot be called high. For PVC systems it reaches 40 dB. But for a balcony this is enough, because the loggia is not a living space.

The doors can be tinted. This option is suitable for glazing those balconies that are located on the 1st or 2nd floor.

General assembly diagram

The general assembly scheme is similar to the installation of conventional casement windows:

1. Remove the old frame from the window opening.
2. Level the surface of the concrete structure.
3. Install the frame, sashes and glass separately.

If the aluminum window arrived assembled, then it is necessary to disassemble it into individual components :

Aluminum system Provedal C 640

The Provedal C640 aluminum profile is a sliding system consisting of a different number of sliding doors. There can be from 2 to 6 sections. They are equipped with wheels, which is a distinctive feature of the design. Rails are made to move the sashes.

Most of the sections can be moved apart with the three-lane option, but you can limit yourself to the two-lane option. With single glazing, the glass thickness does not exceed 6 mm. The products are fireproof, they will not let fire from the adjacent room. They are easy to care for; the doors can be wiped with mild detergents. Provedal C640 windows are distinguished by a large light opening, sound insulation at the level of 10-12 dB.

Other systems I tested: 1 - three-way and 2 - amplified

For balcony glazing, a three- and two-strip system is used. The first has 3 rails, and the second - 2. The movement of the doors occurs along guides.

If we compare both options, the three-way one allows you to open 2 doors at once. The two-way one consists of 3 doors, but only 1 opens. This means that after installing the first type of structure, 2 times more air will flow into the loggia and into the room. This is especially important on hot days.

Three-lane models are installed on straight-shaped loggias, the length of which is in the range of 2.5-7 m. On 6-meter ones, 6 doors are mounted, 4 of which can open simultaneously.

A three-leaf sliding door is installed on a 2.5 m long balcony. It consists of 3 doors; if desired, it is easy to open 2 at once.

Companies producing Provedal profiles offer a reinforced version of the designs. Such systems are designed for glazing large openings. The profile differs from the standard one; it has thicker walls. The height of the sash has been changed, its maximum size is 2300 mm.

Water drainage

The lower guide profile contains drainage holes, which are responsible for removing rainwater accumulating in the window.

On hinged and fixed opening doors. You should check the cleanliness of these openings two to three times a year, removing any dirt from them that prevents water drainage.

A drain attached externally to the bottom of the structure drains rainwater away from the frame and solid glazing.

A canopy attached to the outside of the upper part of the structure limits the ingress of water onto the glazing.

The system of drainage holes is made by punching or milling holes for the drainage in the profile of the blind frame and in the lower frame of the sliding part of the balcony; the inclination of its plane ensures the removal of sediment and protection from water ingress - Fig. 1,2,3. Installation and adjustment of windows from the Provedal profile

Installation work includes several stages; if you have no experience, it is better to entrust them to specialists. They will set the correct gap between the opening and the frames, how to assemble an aluminum profile frame on your own, and do it correctly; This question interests many novice builders. Before you start work, you should see if you have the installation tool and if you have everything you need for the equipment.

The window opening must be dry; similar requirements apply to the surface of the frame. Particular care must be taken when installing frames and sashes in winter.

Remove debris and dust from the installation area. When performing installation, you must ensure that there is a gap between the opening and the frame. On the sides it should be from 10 to 50 mm, and on the bottom and top - 15-50 mm.

Assembly and installation of the frame can be done on your own. The installation process is as follows:

1. First, fix the support pads. They are placed at the bottom of the opening.
2. Create holes for self-tapping screws. They are drilled into frame posts and made into crossbars. The pitch should not exceed 700 mm, the diameter of the holes should not be 6 mm.
3. The frame is placed in the opening. Be sure to check its position vertically and horizontally. A building level is used in the work, all errors are corrected immediately.
4. Start the top drain. It is placed between the top plate and the frame; if necessary, a visor is made. Self-tapping screws are used to fix the upper ebb.
5. Construction screws are used to secure the frame. They are inserted into the holes that were made earlier.
6. The installation gap is insulated using insulation. Most often, the space is filled with foam, which additionally fixes the frame in place. When the material dries, it is covered with sealant and then covered with a stripping.
7. Install the lower ebb. Self-tapping screws are used to secure it. If, when installing a structure, the ebb is placed on top of the frame, be sure to fill the seam with sealant.
8. If necessary, install strips. They are located outside, installed on the sides and top of the frame.

When installing Provedal, the assembly diagram must be taken into account. Glazing of balconies and loggias can be done with the installation of window sills. In this case, first select a steel corner of a suitable size. It is fixed in place, and then a window sill is placed under the frame. After this, they proceed to the installation of the sashes.

At the final stage, glass is installed in those sashes that will not open. Adjustments are made, all structural elements should open smoothly. There should be no distortions.

The customer himself chooses whether the plums will be made. It also determines the presence of trim and other fittings. The Provedal C640 series is large in size, so the frame is delivered to the site disassembled. It consists of 4 elements; 8 screws are used to connect them.

The company produces the box in 3 versions, so when assembling it yourself, you need to be careful not to confuse the upper product with the lower one. Self-tapping screws are needed to attach the side parts to the horizontal frames. At least 2 pieces are allocated for each corner.

An installation package is required for assembly work. It is glued before you start assembling the corners, placing it on the end side of the lower and upper frames.

When working with side frames, the following rules must be observed:

1. When installing the left one, the hook groove should be positioned so that it faces outward.
2. Working with the right side, it is placed inside. But there are exceptions. For example, when installing a four-leaf sliding door, in both cases the hook groove is placed outward.

The position of each element needs to be adjusted. Even before the corners of the frame are fixed, you need to install a hook designed for the lock tongue. It is lightly secured in place using an Allen wrench. The remaining part of the latch is secured only after the distance for the location of the tongue is visible. In the closed state, when the sashes are installed, the Provedal latch should engage.

After this, you can proceed to installing the frame. All parts of the structure must be level, this is checked using a plumb line. A building level is also used. If necessary, at this stage they make not only the ebb, but also the visor.

Once the frame is installed, you can proceed to installing the sashes. They are delivered to the site assembled. To make it more convenient to open these elements, the manufacturer equipped them with 2 rollers. They are installed in the lower part, during the process of opening and closing the doors move along the groove. It is made in a frame.

To adjust the rollers, a hex key (4 mm) is required. The installation of the sashes is carried out when the frame is already in the opening. But this must be done before foaming is performed, because when the foam expands, the frame without sashes can be deformed.

When this stage is completed, proceed to adjustment. If necessary, use a hex wrench to change the position of the rollers. You can change the height of the hook; it should be above the locking tongue. When everything is ready, the tongue is installed in the handle. To fix it, use a hex key.

All fittings in Provedal windows are of high quality. The locks that hold the doors in the upper position work reliably.

These elements are installed, fixed with self-tapping screws, and then closed with caps that perform a decorative function.

The seals of the “Provedal” system are installed not only in the upper and lower, but also placed between the guides. The seal will be located in the place where the 2 sashes touch.

Exploitation

Sliding doors. In the closed position, the doors are held by a latch handle.

To open, press down the inner movable part of the latch handle and, holding it, slide the sash.

Once the latch has disengaged, there is no need to keep the movable part of the handle pressed.

The sash is closed in the reverse order, without allowing the latch tongue to collide strongly with the mating part.

Otherwise, this will lead to the sash not being secured in the closed state.

To restore this function, you will need to adjust the position of the lock mate and/or the tongue in the latch handle (see “Adjusting the latch handle on page #3”).

Do not apply excessive force and do not use improvised devices to open the doors; this may cause them to fall out, which is very dangerous.

The reason for jamming of the sashes may be foreign objects (debris, snow, ice) getting into the lower guides; remove them.

Do not use any lubricants to improve the sliding of the sashes.

This will only lead to the accumulation of excess dirt and damage to the polymer coating of the structure.

Support rollers, with proper installation and initial adjustment, do not require adjustment or lubrication and are designed for the entire service life of the structure.

Pivot and tilt-and-turn sashes. To open swing doors, move the handle to a horizontal position and pull the door towards you.

Closing is done in reverse order. For sashes equipped with a tilting mechanism

(optional) it is necessary to turn the handle from the “closed” position 180 degrees, as a result of which it will take a vertical position, and the end of the handle will point upward.

Then pull the handle towards you, the sash will open in the “tilt” mode.

The design of the opening mechanism does not provide for selecting the degree of tilting of the sash.

Closing is done in reverse order.

Please note that an attempt to immediately move the sash

from the “tilt” mode to the “turn” mode, bypassing the “closed” position, can lead to damage to the opening mechanism.

The glazing structure can be equipped with mosquito nets.

They are designed to protect the interior from flying insects.

Attention, mosquito nets are not a protective barrier for pets.

The glazing design of the Provedal system does not have energy-saving properties.

Therefore, in the cold period of time, provided that warm and humid air penetrates from living quarters, moisture will condense on the cold surfaces of the structure, with its subsequent transformation into ice.
