The instructions for replacing a broken or loose handle are deservedly considered to be perhaps the simplest and most accessible. The fastening bolts in such handles are hidden under a decorative plastic cover. The pad is located directly under the handle. You just need to turn it 90º and the screws will open.

In principle, there are only 2 types of them:

1. If you have AUBI fittings installed, then in the handle area there is a small “flag” with a spring. You will need to move it parallel to the control rods, in other words, press it against the seal. After which the handle should unlock. But keep in mind that the checkbox next to the handle will unlock the system when the sash is in a vertical position. If the window is in ventilation mode, then look for a lock on the top hinge;

"AUBI" system.

1. In systems such as “Roto”, “Maco”, “GU” or “Winkhaus”, again in the area of ​​the handle there will be a small metal tongue or button peeking out. You also need to press it into its original position and the lock will be removed.

Sometimes in budget windows there is another problem. Due to the deformation of the plastic, the guide rod of the button or blocker flag slips past the response mechanism. In this case, you will have to open the sash and place a seal under the guide so that it clearly fits onto the response mechanism.

Breakdown No. 3. The window sash rotates and opens for ventilation at the same time

If you have such an incident, there is also no reason to panic. First of all, use your hands to align the sash in a strictly vertical position, as when opening. The sash should press against the top hinge and take its place.

Now slowly and carefully, with the sash open, try to move the handle to a horizontal position. If this fails, then remove the lock using one of the methods described above.

When the handle becomes horizontal, close the sash and lower the handle down. After this, try to slowly rotate the handle to all possible positions. As a rule, this is enough for the mechanism to work normally. If your efforts are not crowned with success, then it’s worth calling a specialist.

Many owners of plastic windows do not even realize that there are 3 operating modes. In the summer heat, when the seals become too soft and the plastic expands, strong pressure of the sash against the frame is not desirable. In this case, it is better to ease the pressure, down to a slight draft.

And on the contrary, if in the winter cold you find loosely fitting sashes through which there is a fair amount of wind, then you urgently need to adjust the pressure. The average, demi-season mode is usually set during installation.

You shouldn’t immediately grab the keys and frantically adjust the entire system. And the invited master will simply take money from you for practically nothing. After all, the work here takes no more than a couple of minutes and for this you only need pliers.

If everything else is in order, then the pressure of the sash to the frame is adjusted using the so-called trunnions. Trunnions is a narrow professional term that means movable metal clamps. Depending on the model, they may look like eccentrics or a truncated cylinder.

The diagram shows that if the eccentric is vertical, the sash pressure will be the weakest. The horizontal position corresponds to the winter version. Well, if the axle is at an angle of 45º, then this is a demi-season mode.

The situation is similar with truncated cylinders or IS journals. When the cut faces to the left, this is a summer option.

The direction of the cut to the right corresponds to the winter pressure. The middle version is represented by a cylinder with a downward cut.

Trunnion adjustment.

And finally, about the most important thing, how it all switches. You may be surprised, but you just need to take it and use pliers to turn the pin in the desired direction. There is no point in trying to rotate it; they often do not rotate around their axis.

Sometimes, after adjustment, the trunnion does not fall on the stationary hook located on the frame itself. In this case, you need to loosen the screws securing the hook with a Phillips screwdriver and try to move it in the desired direction.

Breakdown No. 5. Mechanism adjustment

As a rule, it is this type of adjustment that is required most often and it also causes horror among some ordinary people. However, if you want, you can understand this, at first glance, tricky science. The main thing to remember is that the screws are tightened clockwise and unscrewed counterclockwise.

In order to understand where you need to move the structure, you need to carefully examine the frame itself, the movable sash, as well as the condition of all the seals and mechanisms on them for abrasions and clamps. This is perhaps the most important point.

Next, if, for example, you notice abrasions in the plastic on the right, then the sash needs to be moved to the left. The top, bottom and all other possible points of contact are adjusted using the same principle:

• The movement of the lower part of the sash to the right and left is controlled by a screw located on the lower hinge on the side. To adjust, you need to remove the decorative trim, insert a hexagon into the head of the screw and rotate it in the desired direction. If you turn it clockwise. Then the leaf will go to the left, if against, then to the right;

• To adjust the sides of the upper part of the sash, you should open the sash, where, not far from the hinge, you will find a screw, which is responsible for this procedure;

Upper regulator.

• The adjusting screw located at the upper end of the lower hinge is responsible for the movement of the sash up and down. There is also a plug there, it needs to be removed and adjusted. If you turn clockwise, the sash will go up, and if counterclockwise, then down;

Vertical adjustment.

• In addition to the above-described method of adjusting the pressure using trunnions, this same pressure can also be adjusted with screws located on the outer end of the sash. The number of screws depends on the chosen model, as a rule, there are 2, although sometimes 3 screws are found;

• Sometimes it becomes necessary to reduce or, conversely, increase the gap between the frame and the sash in ventilation mode. This sector is controlled by the adjusting screw, which is located below on the rod that supports the sash when opened for ventilation. Professionals call this rod system scissors.

There is a win-win, old-fashioned method for determining the sash pressure. You need to take several sheets of paper, place them at different points around the perimeter of the window opening and close the sash. If the sheet is pulled out freely, then this sector should be pressed. When the paper tears, on the contrary, let it go. Ideally, the notebook sheet should fit tightly.
