“Master of Slopes” – the windows of your dreams!

Examples in the interior

The color of gold in the design of wooden windows will decorate the interior in any style, from classic to rooms with modern design. An oak profile with this shade is often chosen by connoisseurs of antique, vintage stylistic solutions for decorating the interior and exterior of a country house, city apartment, office, restaurant or cafe. Windows made of golden oak are not without reason called aristocratic. Just a photograph of them is associated with something luxurious and ancient.

Designers advise using oak windows with a touch of gold in interiors where dark red, red, beige, brick, and red-brown colors predominate. Such windows will look good in combination with dark brown furniture or dark chocolate-colored items. If the door in the room is made to match the color scheme of the window, then this will also be an excellent solution.

Polymer composition is a new word in turning a white window into a colored one

In 2016, at the exhibition in Nuremberg, a fundamentally new window profile with a completely new, originally developed VEKA SPECTRAL surface was presented. Specifically, in this case, there is not some local improvement or change in the existing lamination technology, but a full-fledged innovation using nano-technologies. We perfectly understand the general dislike of the average person for such fashionable big words, but what to do if this is the case - the Spectral window profile was developed using nano-technologies.

Andrey Okulov

The idea of creating a fundamentally new window surface came to VEKA engineers about 7 years ago. It was necessary to create a technology different from lamination, which would allow the formation of a profile surface in various colors. Instead of the usual lamination films, the new profiles use a special ultra-thin composition with the finest transparent varnish. The novelty and originality of Spectral is that, despite the dark surface, such profiles have a very high reflective ability and practically do not heat up when exposed to sunlight; accordingly, the risks of deformation that are inherent in conventional laminated windows are eliminated.

The surface of the new profile has a very high degree of protection from external influences. Of course, if, for example, you try to deliberately scratch or damage it, making significant efforts, then it will obviously be possible to achieve the desired result, but if we are talking about accidental damage during transportation or installation, then this is a completely different degree of resistance compared to traditional options.

Andrey Okulov

Resistance to physical impact does not exhaust the strength characteristics of Spectral. Another feature of the new profile is the highest resistance to the aggressive influence of the external environment: urban reagents, atmospheric pollution, household chemicals, as well as wind, snow, and rain loads will not leave the slightest trace on the surface of the windows.

Do not forget that the new PVC profile was originally created due to the high aesthetic demands of the modern consumer and the standards of high architectural fashion. And as far as external expressiveness is concerned, the Spectral has an absolutely stunning surface, both visually and in terms of tactile sensations. Some experts even began to talk about a new phenomenon - the “tactile design” of a window, which feels completely different to the touch than the usual plastic surface.

In general, it is beautiful to look at and pleasant to touch with your hand. Currently, the profile with the VEKA SPECTRAL surface is available in several color solutions: anthracite, gray, umber (a type of ocher), graphite and white, but VEKA is constantly expanding the range of available colors

Manufacturing technology

Oak window with gold tinting made by Vinchelli

To give the desired shade, tinting is used, which, together with the use of premium varnishes and impregnations, provides not only an attractive appearance of the window structure, but also comprehensive protection of the wooden surface, making it smooth and pleasant to the touch.

Painting and any finishing work must be carried out under the correct technological conditions. Windows manufactured in a factory with modern equipment will be distinguished by high-quality polishing and premium painting.

The “golden oak” color is close to the natural color of oak wood and can have different shades, which are selected depending on the design of the room where the windows are installed.

Wood or PVC: which is better?

Among the windows of the middle and low price segment, there is a popular analogue of natural wood: a colored window profile made of plastic. To give the desired shade in this case, lamination is used (a special film that is applied to a white profile, giving it any color appearance).

Let's look at the main differences between a plastic window and a wooden one.

Wooden window

Environmental friendliness:

no harmful substances are released into the environment; the material “breathes” and creates good air exchange in the room.

Plastic window with lamination

Environmental friendliness:

the material “does not breathe” (a greenhouse effect is created in the room); source of dioxins (released when the material is heated).

Today, thanks to the development of technology, foreign manufacturers can offer a large catalog of good quality plastic. However, wooden windows, also made using modern technologies, are not only environmentally friendly, but also respectable, with which wood products are associated. A cottage or apartment where natural wood predominates shows the taste and standard of living of its owner.

Visibility of damage to laminated windows

Laminating decorative film on a PVC window is a priori not a very reliable thing. If the lamination is applied according to technology and in the right factory conditions, then during operation the possibility of its damage is small.

Excerpt from the advertising brochure: ... lamination film has a multi-layer structure, due to which it effectively resists the harmful effects of precipitation, ultraviolet radiation and even physical damage, ensuring ease of maintenance...

In general, everything is true, but few people think that the main damage to the window surface occurs at the very initial stage, even before you move into the house. We are talking about the process of transportation and installation. The reality is that most installers do not care what they are installing - a budget white window unit or an expensive window made of a profile laminated in an exclusive color; this does not in any way affect the accuracy of their work.

A scratch or chip left on a laminated surface will be visible immediately and very clearly.

Especially if the lamination is made on a white base, and the maintainability of this coating is not our story. There are, of course, coloring pencils and putties, but what is repaired is never like new.

Here are some typical comments:

VitaliyUser of the FORUMHOUS portal

Glazed! But I haven’t fully felt the joy of it yet. Again we screwed up the jambs... Here is a list of them: 1. the lamination on the impost was very badly damaged when removing the glazing bead with a screwdriver during unloading. It’s a pity I wasn’t there, they would have taken the window back. 2. there are numerous chips in the lamination on the doors and frames...

But as for repairing damaged lamination:

LempoForumHOUS portal user

Nothing is impossible) At one of my sites, installers managed to peel off the impost on a laminated window. The window looked out onto the veranda, and the scratch was in plain sight. The problem was solved by a craftsman from the factory, who cut out an impost on the installed window and put a new one in its place.

A few more points that a buyer of laminated windows may encounter if they choose a manufacturer lightly:

vpiyanovUser of the FORUMHOUS portal

there are a bunch of minor flaws in almost every window: - the lamination is not welded carefully in the corners - grains of sand are sticking out under the lamination in places - scratches on the double-glazed windows - scratches and torn places on the lamination

Therefore, today all major lamination film manufacturers are struggling with a solution that would make the surface of a colored window less susceptible to sunlight and not susceptible to external influences.
