Plastic windows with climate control - no need to open to ventilate

Plastic windows » Comparison of plastic windows, reviews and useful tips » “Breathable” plastic windows. Glazing of the room with modules with climate control valve.

High-quality plastic windows have a number of advantages over their second-rate “brothers”. Absolutely transparent glass and a sealed profile reliably protect against cold and drafts. Climate valves are responsible for air exchange, the installation of which is included in the standard kit of the plastic module. For example, German rehau windows are required to be equipped with them.

What are climate valves for?

“Crying” or freezing windows are not that uncommon. There are several reasons for this “behavior”. One of them is installation errors, the second is the lack of a climate valve. The tightness of a double-glazed window that is not equipped with such a device causes stale air in the room, increased humidity and, as a result, fogging and freezing of the windows from the inside. On an apartment scale, mold may appear on the walls and streaks on the wallpaper.

That's not all. Violation of the indoor microclimate can lead to respiratory diseases and the development of sensitivity to allergens.

Operating principle

Manufacturers of double-glazed windows solve the issue of increasing ventilation characteristics in different ways. For example, veka windows are equipped with drainage channels that do not allow moisture to accumulate inside the profile. In this way, hydroregulation is achieved, which ensures a normal microclimate in the apartment.

Supply valves are installed to improve air quality. Their functional value lies in the fact that air exchange occurs when the windows are closed. The need for opening and ventilation is completely eliminated. This allows you to maintain stable characteristics of cleanliness, humidity and temperature in the house.

Example of installation of a ventilator with perforation

The ventilator installation process will vary depending on its design features. Often the frame may need to be milled, but sometimes this is not necessary.

Carrying out preparatory work

It is recommended to install the perforated valve at the top of the window. When planning the insertion of a device, it is recommended to take into account the following nuances:

  • installation will be faster and easier if the sash is initially opened;
  • It is better to carry out installation in the summer - then bad weather will not interfere with the work;
  • When making holes for slot ventilation, you must act carefully so as not to damage the sealing devices on the window.

IMPORTANT. The main preparatory stage will be removing the sash from its hinges and placing it in a vertical or inclined position. To remove the sash carefully, you need to enlist the help of a partner.

List of required tools

To install the air supply unit on the frame yourself, it is important to prepare a list of tools. Milling is not complete without an electric drill. It is necessary to select drills of the correct diameter, for example, 5 and 10 mm. Also useful:

  1. Fine-grained file.
  2. Electric jigsaw.
  3. Prepared template - you can make it yourself, from cardboard or metal.
  4. Silicone sealant - useful for filling gaps after installation.

The marking template can also be made from hardboard - a small piece of material is drilled in several places at the same distance. This template can then be applied to the window frame and marks where the ventilation holes will go.

Step-by-step installation and fastening

When installing an exhaust valve, it is worth following the sequence of work, then the likelihood of error will be reduced to zero. The entire algorithm for performing the work:

  1. Marking. Place the prepared template on the vertical protrusion and mark the insertion location for the future supply valve.
  2. Milling. Use a large drill to make several holes in a straight line, use a knife to make slits, or use an electric jigsaw. Do the same on the frame float.
  3. Installation of strip and valve. Apply sealant to the back of the plank and apply it to the sash. To strengthen the structure, additionally use self-tapping screws.
  4. Installation of the visor. Fix the protective visor on the outside of the window and secure it with self-tapping screws.
  5. The final stage. At this stage, install the window sash in place and fasten all the fittings back.

To check how the supply valve functions, it is necessary to set the ventilation mode - fresh air will be taken in from the outside and released from the inside to the street.

Application area

It is advisable to use climate control valves not only in residential premises, but also in adjacent and utility rooms. If the glazing and finishing of balconies is accompanied by the installation of such systems, then the formation of condensation can be avoided.

The appearance of streaks and frost on windows is not associated with low temperature, but with temperature changes. The climate control system will allow you to maintain stable conditions even on unheated balconies and terraces.

“Breathing” windows have long become the norm, so when choosing a manufacturer it is necessary to make this characteristic a priority. This will guarantee that the microclimate in residential buildings will be favorable for the health of all family members.

Review of popular ventilator models

To install a truly high-quality and functional air supply unit, you need to find out which models and manufacturers currently occupy the market. The following manufacturers can be distinguished:

  1. A company from France that produces valves in various colors. The assortment includes products in white and gray, as well as wood-look options. To protect the valve, the buyer can separately purchase a special visor. There are several models: EHA2, EMM, EMF. The models are made of reinforced plastic, ENA2 has a throughput capacity of 35 cubic meters per hour, while the noise insulation is 37 dB. The EMM is equipped with a movable external block, and the EMF is manually switched.
  2. Air-Box. Ventilators made in Russia with manual adjustment. They are easy to use and maintain. The devices do not have automatic humidity control. There are no external units here, and the device itself is mounted on the window frame from the inside. The series are divided into Standard, Comfort, Comfort S.
  3. Products from a Belgian manufacturer. Produces slot-type inlets. The valves are equipped with filters, manual control is realized using a cord in the “open” and “closed” positions.

The installation method will vary according to the design of the device. Products made in Russia and abroad will be equally effective.

Profiles ONLY of the highest class “A”

According to the thickness of the internal walls, ALL of our profiles are of the highest class “A” - the thickness of their front wall is at least 3 mm.

  • class “A”: front wall not less than 3.0 mm
  • class “B”: front wall not less than 2.5 mm
  • class “C”: wall thickness is not standardized

Please note that 80-90% of the Russian market are classes “B” and “C” and only 10-20% are class “A” profiles. At the same time, our assortment includes ONLY class “A” profiles.

We fundamentally DO NOT use profile systems of classes “B” and “C” (with a front wall width of less than 3.0 mm).

Sensors

Sensors include:

  1. Photodiodes – determine the level of external illumination;
  2. Input temperature sensor (external) – determines the external air temperature, mounted behind the front bumper of the car;
  3. Output temperature sensors – determine the temperature inside the cabin;
  4. Sensors that determine the temperature of the evaporator;
  5. Pressure sensors in the air conditioning system;
  6. Damper potentiometers;
  7. Sun sensor;
  8. Sun position sensor.

The operating principle of all of these sensors is based on converting the measured physical parameters into electrical signals that enter the electronic control unit.

Application area

Climate control for already installed windows

It is possible to improve already installed window structures. In this case, the appearance of the window will not suffer at all, but its functionality will significantly improve. The installation technology involves removing part of the rubber seal and then attaching a thicker gasket with a valve included. An air intake part is installed outside the window, protected by a visor from precipitation.

The cost of a climate control ventilation valve and installation instructions are on the page ventilation valve for plastic windows.

Disadvantages of traditional ventilation

Conventional ventilation has a number of disadvantages: along with fresh air, street noise, various insects enter the apartment, and drafts appear. How to ventilate a children's room with babies sleeping in it in winter?

Another significant disadvantage of ventilation is that 20 minutes after the shutter is closed, the microclimate in the room is completely restored, so new ventilation is required. That is why constant ventilation of the home is necessary.

Which profile to choose: single-chamber or three-chamber?

Five-chamber systems are superior to analogues with three sections in all respects, but their installation is not always advisable. Firstly, such designs are quite heavy, and secondly, their price tag is 18-20% higher than the cost of standard products with three chambers. So which variety should you buy?

When choosing a window unit, rely on the natural conditions of your area and the specifics of the environment. If the climate is close to harsh, and there is a noisy highway outside the window, then options with 5 cameras are ideal for you.

Three-chamber systems are quite suitable for operation at average temperatures (up to -25 degrees). If there is no need for improved sound insulation of the block, standard options are preferable.

Evolutionary double-glazed windows SmartGlass 2.0

Our multifunctional double-glazed windows work for you both in winter and summer. In winter, the spraying of silver particles retains up to 90% of the thermal energy of heating devices, and in the summer, a double-glazed window reflects 25% more solar heat than conventional plastic windows.

  • 42% more HEAT in winter (energy saving properties)
  • 25% less HEAT in summer (sun protection properties)

All our double-glazed windows contain special energy-efficient glass. We DO NOT use regular glass even in the most basic configurations.

Installation work: how not to mess it up?

The basis of installation work is the experience of the installers and the quality of work performed. Depends on:

  1. Efficiency - how correctly the system as a whole and each of its components will be configured.
  2. Safety – climate control must comply with all fire safety regulations. The supply of expensive equipment to the electrical network must be carried out using all the rules when organizing work in electrical installations.
  3. Aesthetic properties of premises. Expensive equipment and related elements should fit organically into the interior of the rooms.

The connection stages are also different:

  1. Warm floors, radiators, air conditioners and other elements can be connected to one controller. This is a convenient, simple and effective option, since all components are united by a single controller. But, this is the most expensive option for purchased equipment.
  2. All components go to one controller, and the air conditioner to another. This is a more reliable option, since there is a type with system fault tolerance during failure of one control unit. Also, this is the best option when the use of an external control unit allows you to increase the functionality of the split system.
  3. Connecting all systems to the microcontroller unit, but not connecting the air conditioner at all. Reliable and affordable way. It is effective when the air conditioner is already equipped with an internal microcontroller and allows you to interact with it through proprietary smartphone software. This option is less expensive and also effective.

The basic equipment package for the climate control system includes:

  • Microcontroller;
  • Temperature sensors;
  • Relay block;
  • Servo drives - one for each radiator, circuit, room;
  • Electrical cabinet with DIN rail;
  • Power and network cable.

Installation work includes:

  1. Installation of a cabinet with a microcontroller and relay equipped inside.
  2. Installation of servos on each radiator.
  3. Installation of servos connected to the power supply network by a power cable and to the network control unit.
  4. Equipping each room with a temperature sensor connected to the relay with a twisted-pair cable. When installing wireless sensors, it is necessary to configure a wireless data transmission channel between the main unit and the sensors.

After the main work, testing and commissioning are carried out.

How does a 5-chamber profile differ from a 3-chamber profile?

When choosing between a three-chamber and a five-chamber PVC profile, you should understand that the main purpose of windows of the second type is maximum heat conservation. Such designs are excellent for installation in regions where low temperatures prevail most of the year. In the central part of Russia, systems with three cameras are quite sufficient.

You also need to take into account the increased parameters of the unit with 5 cameras. If a system with a triple profile has a width of 60 mm, then the option we are considering is 10 mm wider. If you decide to give preference to this particular design, pay attention to the parameters of your window opening. Sometimes installing wide systems is simply not possible.

Changing the light transmittance of glass

Also, modern windows are able to regulate the light in the room. This became possible thanks to electro-chromic glasses developed by the American company NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory). Their light transmission varies depending on the voltage applied to them.

The Peer+ company (Holland) went further and offered glass with photovoltaic coating SEG (Smart Energy Glass), which can not only change its transparency, but also accumulate solar energy. University at Buffalo scientist Sarbajit Banerjee proposed coating glass with tungsten mixed with vanadium oxide (V205).

Vanadium oxide is capable of changing the structure of its lattice depending on temperature, experiencing a so-called phase transition. At temperatures below +32°C, this compound is a semiconductor that will not transmit infrared radiation, but will not absorb it either.

As the temperature increases, the crystal lattice changes , the connection becomes a conductor and begins to absorb infrared radiation. As a result, in hot weather, glass with this coating acts as a cooler, absorbing excess heat.

Possible modifications

Typically, double-glazed windows that include more than two chambers with inert gas are not equipped with barrier systems. But the profile’s capabilities allow you to make not only blind windows, but also opening modules.

As for color solutions, the dye is added to polyvinyl chloride at the stage of manufacturing the window profile, so the paint does not fade over time, and you can choose a solution that matches the architectural design of the developer.

To select double-glazed windows for a home, industrial or office building, contact the company manager "

Comparison of technical characteristics

When choosing a three-chamber or five-chamber profile, pay attention to the technical characteristics of both systems. Their main difference lies in the difference in heat retention coefficients. For blocks with three chambers, this figure varies from 0.6 to 0.65 m 2 /kW, and for similar systems with 5 chambers - from 0.75 to 0.8 m 2 /kW.

In addition, improved systems with an increased number of cameras provide reliable protection against the penetration of extraneous sounds into the room. For blocks with a three-chamber profile, this figure is 30% lower.

PVC systems also differ in strength. Five-chamber varieties are much more reliable; they can withstand significant physical impacts. However, it must be borne in mind that along with high strength, such structures have acquired additional weight. It is not recommended to install them in frame buildings.
