The number “72” in the name means the thickness of the frame (installation seam) in millimeters.
The history of the appearance of this profile goes back to England, when in 1996 two companies : W. H. _ S mith & Sons (extrusions) Ltd. and Bowater Halo merged to form the WHS Halo brand, which in turn became part of the VEKA group in the UK market.
logo:
Despite being 72mm wide, WHS saves you money and costs less than a 70mm system! The Veka WHS profile is designed for the simplest and most inexpensive glazing solutions and at the same time with a very attractive price it has branded Veka things:
- Closed metal reinforcement inside the profile will ensure good stability of the structures. Reinforcement material: galvanized steel
- It has excellent thermal and sound insulation characteristics.
- 5 cameras inside the profile!
- Frame/mounting seam width 72 mm.
What fittings are used?
By default, German innovative fittings (Gretsch-Unitas Gmbh) are used. Conveniences and features:
- micro-ventilation
- microlift
- false opening blocker
- pressure points from 670 mm
- hinge group with a sash weight limit of 70 kg.
- no adjustment of the bottom loop for clamping
- hinge support is not painted
- GU fittings hinges for VEKA WHS differ in appearance from the hinges of other VEKA 58, 70, 82 and 90 systems
- white handle – metal, Russia
Which profile is better
So, let’s compare the Veka 72 WHS model with other profiles of the 70 series: Veka Softline 70 mm, Rehau Brilliant 70 mm, KBE Expert 70 mm.
The installation depth varies among subjects. WHS is 2 millimeters thicker than the others. What will energy saving figures show?
The heat indicators for the difference in width are as follows:
— Century 72 WHS – 0.77 m2°C/W,
— Veka Softline – 0.78 m2°C/W,
— Rehau Brilliant – 0.79 m2°C/W,
— KBE Expert – 0.83 m2°C/W.
We see that the simplified Veka 72 WHS model is not inferior to class A systems. KBE is in the lead by 0.3-0.5 m2°C/W. This is not significant for human sensitivity.

Something that deserves close attention
The width and properties are the same as an elite profile, and the price is the same as an Economy class.
Square steel reinforcement of a closed type - the researchers kept this system rigid and static.
There are 5 chambers in a box, so thermal insulation and sound insulation allow the client to get the coveted warmth and silence.
The tone of PVC is slightly different from the main Veka line; the surface is more porous, but still easy to clean.
The seal is made using the co-extrusion method; in simple terms, it is glued into the contour. The light gray color of the tape creates a visual effect of air and space.
The lightweight narrowed frame expands the light horizon, making the room brighter without losing heat.
The bevel of the outer contour is more pronounced - it looks neat and elegant without frills.
There are color options, which can be very useful for creative implementations of design.
Price
The cost of structures depends on the volume of glazing (1, 2, 3 rooms) and the presence of a balcony. The price of Veka windows in Moscow for a one-room apartment varies from 31 to 40 thousand rubles, for a two-room apartment - from 47 to 59 thousand rubles. Additional costs must be provided when ordering mosquito nets, bulletproof glass, etc. It is important to choose good fittings to go with the profile (handles, fastenings, drainage systems).
You can read about other Veka profiles in our separate articles, for example: Veka WHS 60, Veka Slide, Veka Euroline.
There was a lot of money lost, but it felt like they were working in a garage. "Windows of the 21st century"
So, good day to all those who stopped by.
I will describe our experience working with this company.
We had 2 contracts with them: 1st for 2 windows, 2nd for a balcony block (Cheburashka, so-called).
I’ll say right away that there are a lot of emotions, letters too.
Experience No. 1.
Talking on the phone , the price quoted on the phone for 2 windows and a balcony block is 60 thousand rubles, but the price may change slightly after measurement. OK.
The surveyor arrived . A positive young man, he was not rude or rude. He drew up a measurement sheet, called on the phone, found out the amount and quickly began to “prepare” us to sign the contract. And the amount is no longer 60, but about 80.
What profiles, what window sills, what glass unit. Didn't say anything, no consultation (why). It's a pity that we are simpletons and this was our first experience. We decided to order 2 windows, because there was not enough money for everything at once. The windows were the same size, but there was one fixed sash for the kitchen, a second tilt-and-turn one, and two tilt-and-turn sash for the bedroom. Ok, the measurer said, and continued to rush us.
I confess, the waffles themselves. It was necessary to become thoroughly familiar with both the profiles and the double-glazed windows, but we hoped that a large company would not stoop so low and deliver something bad.
After the surveyor left and read the sheet properly, it turned out that he had drawn only one window - with 1 blind sash and written - 2 pieces. They called back immediately, he repented and redid the sheet with an additional payment of 3 thousand rubles on our part. rubles
When the WHS-Halo profiles arrived, we realized that life would be bad without a sucker. For almost 50 tr. we got “just windows.” The cheapest profile, the simplest double-glazed window. They warmed up to us. And when we didn’t find the PSUL, we called the office and asked, where is the PSUL? We were told that we did not have it on the measurement sheet.
The windows, as it turned out, are installed not according to GOST standards, but on foam. They inserted verbal bastards. They said there would be a PSUL.
The installer began to dissuade us from PSUL, saying that it was not necessary, that it was nonsense and that he would put him on foam so that everyone would be stunned. We insisted on PSUL and vapor barrier tape. The installer installed the windows on a block of wood! During installation, pieces of the quarter broke off, leaving foam behind. The fittings were crooked. And the battery (cast iron) remained standing on a piece of concrete. The installer swept up after himself and left.
We called the office and explained what we weren’t happy with, and they promised to fix it.
The same installer called back and began to rudely ask “why the f.. don’t you like?! I don’t have to do all this!” We sent him. The office called and offered another team.
By the way, the team turned out to be adequate, everything was corrected. That's where we parted ways.
A little later, a separate person arrived and adjusted the fittings and checked the installation of the windows.
Experience No. 2.
It's time to install the balcony block (door and 2 windows). We thought, maybe we were just unlucky with the measurer and installer? We decided to give the company a second chance.
Another surveyor arrived . I counted almost 50 thousand rubles with the cheapest profiles. Fuck him. We're already tired. We clarified about the PSUL, specified the fittings and window sills.
Delivered as before without incident.
The installer who came this time was diligent, neat and pleasant to communicate with. Even with a laser level. However, there was PSUL, but no vapor barrier tape. And sandaled, as it turned out, stupidly on PSUL and foam. We checked the functionality and the installer left. A couple of days later we noticed that the sash was not pressed tightly, so they called a person from the office.
Upon inspection, the person was “delighted”, saying that it needed to be redone, because. The installer installed the profile sideways, the sash does not press down and this matter cannot be adjusted, only alteration
The following installers corrected the jambs and, just to be safe, double-checked the installation of all windows.
What can I say as a result?
For almost 100,000 we received: 2 deliveries, 2 installations, 2 alterations of what we installed. 2 adjustments to the fittings, as well as a feeling of being deceived. Fortunately, they send people without any questions, but what prevents us from doing everything correctly the first time is a mystery.
There were cheaper options, they hoped that they would do it using technology and “for centuries”, without saving on a basic PSUL for 100 rubles. However, we were sold the cheapest profile for the price of the most expensive. And now I hope that our house will begin to be demolished before the wood under the profile rots.
Thank you all for your attention!
Don't be suckers like us! And learn from other people's mistakes.
Number of cameras inside the profile
— Veka 72 WHS – 5,
— Veka Softline – 5,
— Rehau Brilliant – 5,
— KVE Expert – 5.
All profiles have 2 sealing circuits. But with WHS the seal is glued into the circuit.
The reinforcement is different: for the BEKA Euroline and Veka 72 WHS systems it is closed in the shape of a square, for Rehau it is G-shaped, for KBE it is U-shaped. Material steel. Each type of frame has a number of advantages and creates rigidity and durability of the product.
The surface of the profiles is also slightly different: Rehau has a glossy surface, VEKA Softline and KVE have a matte silky surface, Veka WHS has a matte, more porous surface.
Century WHS belongs to class B, and the rest to class A. This indicates a thinner outer wall of the WHS box. Hence a number of technical restrictions on products for this profile.
Customers' opinions
Elena, 40 years old, Kaliningrad: “When expanding the living space and moving to a new apartment, it was necessary to replace the double-glazed windows in 2 rooms with plastic ones. The building is located on the leeward side, so I preferred profiles with 5 WHS 72 chambers. I liked the ratio of quality and cost, and the presence of reinforcement. To complete the design solution, I ordered tinting of the plastic in the mass in a light brown shade. The work was completed 2 years ago, no repairs were required yet, the thermal insulation and sound insulation are satisfactory.”
Victor, 37 years old, Korolev: “I replaced the windows in the living room and balcony doors 1 year ago. I ordered the Whs halo 72 profile because... durable, with reliable seals and sound insulation. The design solution is modern, the profile is narrow, and the heat-saving qualities are high. Additionally, I installed slopes, drainage, and a mosquito net. The color I chose was classic white (with a gray seal), because... fits any interior."
Victoria, 36 years old, Moscow: “When renovating an apartment, it was necessary to replace double-glazed windows; we chose Veka WHS 72 windows. The structures are of high quality, with reliable thermal insulation. Models with a depth of 72 mm in comparison with other manufacturers turned out to be 10-15% less expensive. We paid about 40 thousand rubles. for replacing windows in a one-room apartment. The blocks face a busy street, so double-glazed windows with sound-proofing and heat-insulating properties were chosen.
Comparison of WHS Halo 60 and 72 profiles
Not every plastic window is capable of providing a high level of protection for a room, so before ordering windows you need to familiarize yourself with the profile system - the most important part of the plastic structure. Today, the WHS Halo 72 and WHS Halo 60 systems are quite popular. By comparing them according to their main characteristics, you can choose the best option for an apartment, home or office.
Class
Both systems belong to class A (RAL). This means that the wall thickness is 3 mm or more. The WHS 72 and WHS 60 profiles have a wall thickness of 3 mm - this is quite enough for reliable protection from cold and noise. Such windows are lighter than “thick-walled” ones, which allows them to be installed in light frame buildings or on balconies without additional reinforcement of the structure.
Number of air chambers
One of the best heat insulators is air. Any profile system has a certain number of internal chambers. They are closed and filled with air. The more chambers, the lower the thermal conductivity of the window and the warmer the room. Comparing these profile designs, it should be noted that the first has 5 chambers, and the second only 4. The five-chamber profile has greater heat transfer resistance - 0.77 m2C/W, compared to 0.66 m2C/W for the four-chamber profile. Based on this parameter, a thick profile is more appropriate for installation in residential premises, allowing for significant savings on heating.
Sealing contours
They are sealing strips made of special material located around the perimeter of the opening frames. Their main purpose is additional protection of a window or door from dust, heat loss and condensation. Both profile systems are available with a double-circuit seal. ARTC or silicone can be used as a material - with proper care it will not lose its characteristics for 5 years. Halo 72 has two seal color options - black and light gray. WHS 60 has one more color - caramel.
Reinforcement
A profile made from suspension polyvinyl chloride does not have adequate rigidity and is not able to withstand significant mechanical loads. In order to increase the strength of the entire structure, it must be reinforced. To do this, a metal profile is installed inside the structure. Both profile systems have a frame with closed reinforcement - due to this, it is able to withstand high mechanical loads, as well as resist significant temperature changes, which are often observed in our country. The swing frame is reinforced differently - an L-profile is used here. This approach makes it possible to lighten the structure without losing its functionality - the sash experiences less load and does not require serious reinforcement.
Installation width and thickness of the glass unit
This is an important parameter, and comparing WHS Halo 72 and 60, we can say that the first is the “warmer” option. Its installation width is 72 mm, compared to 60 mm for WHS 60. The thicker design provides better protection from frost and noise and is more durable. In addition, the wide frame allows the installation of double-glazed windows of increased thickness, including energy-saving or armored options. The 72 profile allows you to install double-glazed windows with a thickness from 22 to 44 mm, and the sixtieth has a limit of 32 mm.
Application area
Halo 72 windows, due to their high thermal insulation properties, are widely used in the glazing of apartment buildings, cottages, and offices. Large area translucent structures can be made from this profile, including for panoramic glazing. The sixtieth can also be used in all areas of civil or individual housing construction, but is more often used for glazing administrative and office buildings, balconies and loggias, and industrial facilities. All windows can be painted or laminated with colored film.
Which system to choose
Both systems are distinguished by good heat conservation, sound insulation and durability. They are highly resistant to mechanical and temperature influences, and intense UV irradiation does not lead to stains or yellowing of the plastic. A thicker profile (72) provides more opportunities for glazing private households. It can be used to make standard and panoramic windows and door groups. High thermal insulation characteristics are especially relevant for our harsh climate - savings on heating a cottage can amount to a decent amount every month. In addition, it is possible to install double-glazed windows of increased thickness.
Halo 60 is more suitable for use in apartment buildings, retail, office and administrative buildings, and industrial facilities. Its thermal insulation characteristics are slightly inferior to the previous one, but are quite sufficient even for the northern regions. The windows are less massive, which is important when used in light buildings - hangars, frame-panel buildings, and on balconies. Both profile systems allow the installation of additional ventilation valves. For southern regions with plenty of sun, it is important that the softening temperature is more than 88 degrees, which exceeds GOST standards and climatic parameters.
