Roller shutter device
Externally, roller shutters are practically no different from horizontal blinds. These devices also consist of slats that can be folded, but unlike roller shutter blinds, they cannot be opened to allow sunlight to pass through.
Roller shutters can be installed on windows, doors, gates
Let's look at what roller shutters consist of:
- Canvas. The safety of the room on the windows or doors of which roller shutters are installed will depend on its strength. Due to the fact that the slats fit tightly to each other, when the roller shutters are closed, the room is pitch dark. Thanks to the movable connection of the slats, they are lifted and rolled up. Steel or aluminum can be used to make lamellas.
- The box in which the drive mechanism is located. It is located above the canvas. The box is made from durable materials so that it cannot be broken into. Most often it is made of steel.
- Guide elements. The canvas moves along them. When the roller shutters are closed, there is no gap between them and the guides, which reduces the likelihood of break-ins.
- Drive unit. This is the most complex element of roller shutters; it can be either mechanical or electrical. The reliability of the drive mechanism determines how convenient it will be to use the roller shutters and how long they will last. Without a drive, it will not be possible to wind the web onto the shaft. The following drive types are used:
- tape One end of the cord is fixed to the canvas, and the other to the shaft. If you pull the tape down, the roller shutters open, if you pull up, they lower. The belt mechanism is highly reliable, but it cannot be used when the web weighs more than 15 kg;
- crank and cable. Roller shutters are raised thanks to the presence of a gearbox, which is connected by means of a cardan to a knob or by means of a cable with a rotating handle. This mechanism allows you to lift a canvas weighing up to 36 kg;
- the spring-inertia mechanism includes a powerful spring, which is located inside the shaft;
- The electric drive is powered by an electric motor. To control the operation of the roller shutters, just press the button on the switch or on the control panel. This is the most comfortable and convenient way to control the blade, but such a drive is also quite expensive.
- Controls. If the device is mechanical, then a cord or handle is used to control it. Electrical devices are activated using a switch or control panel.

Breakdowns of roller shutters and roller shutters with automatic (electric drive)
Breakage of locking locks and drive due to deformation of the canvas
In automatic roller shutters and roller shutters, mechanical influences (ingress of foreign objects, etc.) often lead to deformation of the canvas and malfunctions of the locking locks (locking bolts) on which the canvas is suspended from the shaft.
The roller shutter stops working correctly. Symptoms can be varied, for example: the blade does not move when the shaft is running idle, the blade is not screwed onto the shaft correctly, warps, gets stuck, jams, etc.
In this case, repair or replacement of faulty locking locks is required. If the canvas is significantly damaged, it also requires reassembly or replacement - partial or complete.
In case of such breakdowns, the drive or its limit switch block may also burn out; This problem can be solved by replacing the drive.
Automation breakdowns due to inappropriate power supply
Automation problems in roll-to-roll systems often occur due to a) voltage fluctuations in the network, b) insufficient power supply, or c) improper installation of the power cable inside the box.
The roller shutter stops working altogether or does not work correctly/reacts to control commands: it does not open or close properly, etc.
These problems can be corrected by replacing the fuse (if it is blown) or replacing the drive (if it is faulty). In this case, of course, it is necessary to ensure the supply of a stable appropriate voltage to the roller shutter.

What's happening?
Most often the larva gets clogged or frozen. A frozen larva can be thawed using improvised means.
Repair
If an attempt to clean or warm it does not help, then the cylinder is drilled out with a drill and a new lock is installed. You can do this yourself or call specialists.
Breakage of the spring-inertia mechanism
What's happening?
Most often adapters break. Symptoms of such a breakdown are that it is impossible to open the canvas, and plastic elements spill out of the box.
The spring is limited by plastic capsules, which experience sufficient stress and break into pieces.
Spring-inertia mechanism
Repair
Unfortunately, adapters are not supplied separately, so the entire spring-inertia mechanism assembly must be replaced.
To select the right spare parts you need to know:
- Diameter of the octogonal shaft (the shaft on which the roller shutter is wound),
- Manufacturer of roller shutters,
- The length of the pulley on which the spring is attached.
99% of roller shutters in Russia are made from component companies - DoorHan, Alutech, Hermann. Companies mark their components from the inside of the box - at the top or on the sides.
To select a spring for roller shutters, the diameter of the shaft and the weight of the leaf are taken into account. But it is quite difficult for the owner to determine the weight by eye, and a mistake can cost another breakdown. Therefore, you can select a similar spring according to the size of the pulley - a metal profile with a square cross-section, which is located inside the spring.
Cardan control failure
What's happening?
Often the joint of the cardan unit fails. This occurs due to working at a small angle: the sharper the angle between the control handle and the shaft itself, the greater the load the unit experiences and the more often the cardan has to be replaced.
Cardan shaft and connection to control handle
Repair
In order for our craftsmen to bring you the desired cardan, you need to determine:
- Component manufacturer
- Cardan length
- Cardan model - loop or pin
The cardan control handle can be attached either to a loop or to a pin, depending on the fastening and the type of cardan you have is determined - loop or pin.
For repairs, it is important to know the manufacturer and length of the cardan. You can get it by unscrewing 2 or 4 screws, removing the cardan and measuring it.

Adjusting roller shutters
You can adjust the operation of roller shutters with your own hands. To do this you will need a set of keys and screwdrivers. The adjustment method depends on the type of blade drive.
Adjustment of roller shutters with spring-inertia mechanism
The adjustment of such a mechanism consists in the correct tension of the spring. The number of revolutions of the drum to tension the spring may be indicated in the instructions for the roller shutters, but it is usually determined in practice.
The adjustment process consists of the following stages:
- Wind up the spring. To do this, the shaft is turned clockwise when viewed from the right side of the roller shutter cover. 10–12 revolutions are performed.
To wind the spring, make 10–12 revolutions of the shaft
The spring is fixed with a bracket
Stoppers limit the lifting height of the blade
Adjusting electric roller shutters
When the electric drive is turned on, the motor rotates the shaft until the limit switches open their contacts. Therefore, the process of adjusting electric roller shutters involves setting the actuation point of the limit switches. To set the upper position of the canvas, perform the following actions:
- The canvas is lowered to the lower position.
- Open the protective cover of the box.
- Determine the screw that is responsible for adjusting the drive.
- Turn on the drive and rotate the screw in the required direction.
Using the appropriate screws, you can adjust the shutdown of the electric drive when the blade reaches the extreme upper and lower positions
Adjusting the lower position of the blade:
- Press the button to lower the roller shutters.
- Turn the adjusting screw in the direction that corresponds to lowering the blade. They do this until the roller shutters go down.
- Release the control button. Now, when the blade reaches the lowest point, the engine will turn off.

Causes of problems
Each mechanism is designed for a certain service life. And this does not mean that you can safely use the design. It is necessary to carry out periodic maintenance of roller shutters in order to identify problems at the earliest stages. Timely maintenance is also necessary in order to promptly replace worn parts. After all, there are rollers and silicone seals that wear out faster.
Serious damage can occur if the blade is operated under increased load. Then its service life simply decreases. But even in this case, it will be possible to repair the roller shutters. The main thing is not to continue operation if you hear extraneous noise during operation.
External influences and atmospheric phenomena (temperature changes, severe frosts) can also lead to device malfunction. Self-repair of roller shutters is not advisable in this case, since specialists will better diagnose the causes of the problem and fix them faster.
Metal roller shutters for windows and their repair
Metal roller shutters for windows are a popular alternative to bars. They can effectively protect your property from criminal attacks, create a comfortable darkening of the room, and protect the room from moisture, dust, and light. Roller shutters are easy to use and do not spoil the appearance of the facade, harmonizing perfectly with it. However, sooner or later all devices fail and need repair.
Is it possible to repair roller shutters?
Roller shutters should not be considered an unreliable design: they can last a large number of years with proper care, however, sometimes sudden troubles can occur, and then device owners have to quickly find a way out of the situation, usually doing it on the go. Without sufficient experience and knowledge, it is quite difficult to restore the system, however, it can be repaired. To do this, you will need to calculate the roller shutters, select materials for repair and replace damaged elements.
If you find some minor damage, but the system is still working, you should not ignore the problem and put off repairing the roller shutters for a long time. The fact is that all the parts of the mechanism are interconnected, and a minor malfunction will gradually cause a more serious problem, the elimination of which will cost much more and take more time. In addition, faulty window protection can also threaten the safety of your property, since a broken roller shutter will not be able to function properly, and an intruder will take advantage of this to break into the house.
To repair the canvas, it is recommended to contact a company that does this professionally or specializes in the manufacture and installation of devices. However, depending on your experience and the existing problem, you can perform some operations yourself.
Structural elements of roller shutters
Blinds are ordered for interior windows; they are easy to hang yourself. Read our article “Attaching blinds to the ceiling - the main methods”
Curtains are still popular these days. This is discussed in more detail in our article “Popular models of curtains for a small window”
Why do malfunctions occur?
Any mechanism requires careful attention. In addition, there is natural wear of parts as a result of friction and exposure to physical phenomena. A malfunction may occur even if the service life of the structure has not yet expired. Regular maintenance of the moving parts of the mechanism will help get rid of possible problems. Prevention is necessary regardless of the type and cost of your roller shutters.
Worn parts need to be replaced in a timely manner, without waiting for them to fail. Some elements may break or become unusable before the allotted time if the operation was too harsh, the roller shutters were used in unsuitable conditions, were not properly maintained, or cheap low-quality parts were purchased.
Most often, seals and rollers wear out, since they are made of silicone, which reacts to the mechanical stress that occurs during the movement of the structure, and also does not tolerate temperature changes well. In fact, this material can be considered consumable, seasonal. If you use a blade with increased load, failure of more serious parts may also occur earlier. In this case, it is quite possible to repair the roller shutters yourself or contact a specialist.
The impact of atmospheric phenomena also leaves its mark. High and low temperatures and their sudden changes especially affect the operation of mechanisms. Any metals do not like this; frost makes them more fragile. In case of metal fatigue, self-repair usually does not help; the part must be completely replaced. Chips and cracks and other evidence of failure of mechanism elements may appear on it; they can be easily installed by a specialist.

What breaks most often?
Before you think about how to repair roller shutters with your own hands, you need to determine what exactly has gone wrong. This will help you make competent repairs, avoid unnecessary financial expenses and loss of time. The most common problems encountered are:
- Failure of the electric drive.
- Web jamming.
- Destruction of the box.
- Broken deadbolt lock.
Application of roller shutters
Roller shutters have been popular among consumers for quite some time. Today they are installed not only in residential buildings, but also in commercial premises. Roller shutters have a wide range of applications. They are used to protect a room from excess light, dust, noise, burglary, as well as various impacts, including mechanical and chemical. Such designs are very similar to ordinary blinds, but they also have protective functions. With all this, such an addition can be an excellent decoration not only for windows, but also for doors. Roller shutters can be set to adjust the light intensity. If the sun's rays illuminate and heat the room too much, the structure can be lowered to a certain height, while at night it will close automatically. If you decide to install roller shutters yourself, you should know that this type of design also has good thermal insulation qualities. You can verify this if you look at it in cross-section: the elements inside have air chambers, which are sometimes filled with foam. Both perfectly retain both hot currents and cold air, which guarantees an ideal indoor climate in both winter and summer. Before installing roller shutters with your own hands, you need to familiarize yourself with all their pros and cons. Among the first, we can also highlight the fact that such structures are quite easy to install, and can also be equipped with one of several control systems. For example, manual structures are used for private use, while structures that are controlled by electronic systems are purchased to protect industrial and commercial premises. It is also important how the roller shutters look. In addition to performing their main tasks, they can improve the exterior of the house. When purchasing, you can choose not only the color, but also the texture of the material.
Wooden roller shutters
Wooden shutters for the windows of a country house do not always look like classic ones. These are rather shutters that perform a protective and decorative function. Window shutters come in several types:
- With one door. They cover small windows. The wooden door has two hinges. The locking mechanism is located on the inside of the window.
- With two doors. They cover large windows. The shutters consist of two panels, each of which is suspended by two or three hinges. The canvases close to the center and are closed with a lock or latch.
- Foldable. They cover large windows. Each sash consists of several parts, each of which is suspended on hinges. They fold like an accordion.
- Shutters-blinds. When open, the window is completely closed. The slats are not fixed, but can be rotated. They can be opened and closed as needed. In this case, the shutter frame remains motionless.
- Roller shutters. The classic version, where the canvas is wrapped on a drum.
- Internal shutters. Located on the inside of the window. They are ineffective in protecting against hacking. They perform purely aesthetic functions and protect from the sun.
Periodic cleaning of the structure
From time to time, small and medium-sized elements may get into the structure. If you operate roller shutters in this condition, the likelihood of a malfunction increases significantly. Cleaning is carried out using ordinary brushes and cleaning agents. The use of materials that do not react to exposure to high humidity allows the use of special cleaning agents.
In conclusion, we note that serious design problems cannot be solved on your own. Therefore, if the malfunction is serious, then the work of repairing the structure should be left to professionals. The simplicity of the design significantly reduces the cost of repair work.
Diagnostics of roller shutter faults with opening of the protective box
Any repair must begin with diagnostics. It is important not only to identify the malfunction, but also to understand the reasons for its occurrence. This does not apply to mechanical damage, when the cause of the defects is obvious. For example, bent slats as a result of burglary or vandalism.
Most faults are hidden from view under a protective box:
- The roller shutter leaf is sagging, skewed or torn
- The crossbar blockade on automatic roller shutters has stopped working
- The manual cord has broken and the door cannot be opened/closed
- The electric motor burned out, the cardan broke, the gearbox failed
As you can see, most of the problems occur with the drive and suspension of roller shutters. A visual inspection of these components cannot be performed without first opening the protective box. In these cases, it is necessary to dismantle the box cover in order to accurately determine the cause of the malfunction and then carry out repairs.
What types of fabric failures occur?
Mechanical damage.
Roller shutters that have served their purpose look like a rugged, scarred warrior, but they need to be healed.
We close houses, plots, and openings with roller shutters primarily to protect:
- from people who would like to gain access to our property and just hooligans,
- from natural phenomena - wind, rain, random branches,
- from accidents - a brick accidentally flying through a window, a neighbor’s car hitting the gate, a careless forklift or floor polisher stopping into your store in a shopping center.
The roller shutter leaf is bent and needs to be replaced
Repair:
If the canvas is damaged, it will need to be replaced. To reduce the number of visits our specialists make to you, we recommend preparing the following information:
- Profile manufacturer,
- The exact width and height of the product,
- Width, height, depth of guide bars,
- Product box size – width, height, length,
- Control type.
Incorrect installation.
Professional measurers and installers must ensure that the opening is ready for the installation of roller shutters, prepare the opening, if necessary, strengthen it, and ensure that the guides and frame are installed geometrically evenly.
But in the roller shutter market, installation is not always carried out by specialists of sufficient level and training; in order to save money, many owners install roller shutters themselves, which we do not recommend doing.
What's happening?
Roller shutters operate noisily, the distortion is obvious and the canvas rests on something.
Repair
It is often possible to reinstall such roller shutters without replacing components. Although in a situation where the metal structures are severely deformed, you will have to order new roller shutters.
Icing of the canvas. At a temperature of -25, both the motor may not work correctly, and the canvas itself may freeze up and not open. We recommend waiting for more comfortable conditions for the roller shutters to operate.

Replacing roller shutters
Sometimes situations arise when repairing roller shutters is impossible, then they are dismantled and replaced.
Dismantling
This process must be carried out taking into account the weight of the structure. While roller shutters installed on windows are relatively small, garage roller blinds are very heavy. In any case, safety precautions must be observed, otherwise, if such a structure falls, you can get serious injuries . It is best to carry out dismantling with an assistant.
- Raise the blade to its highest position.
- If the roller shutters have an electric drive, then they are disconnected from the network.
- Remove the protective cover from the box.
- Disconnect the limit switches or mechanical blade controls.
- Unscrew the box from the supporting surface. To do this, use a key of the appropriate size.
The box is unscrewed and removed along with the shaft and canvas
Installation of roller shutters
The installation process of roller shutters consists of the following steps:
- Check the completeness of the purchased roller shutters.
- Prepare the guides. The outermost mounting holes are made at a distance of 10–15 cm from the bottom and top of the guide; further holes are made in increments of 40–50 cm.
Holes are drilled in the guides for their fastening.
The box and guides are securely fixed to the supporting surface
After connecting the drive to the shaft, it should rotate smoothly and without jerking
The blade is wound onto the shaft and fixed on it
The box is closed with a protective cover

Categories of roller shutter breakdowns
As a result of the operation of the roller shutter structure, various breakdowns can occur, which can be divided into:
- minor;
- serious.
The first category includes breakdowns, the elimination of which does not require dismantling the structure; it is enough to just replace broken parts, for example, a cardan, rings, bolts, guide elements. For more serious damage, repairs may require dismantling the roller shutter, if it is necessary to reassemble the curtain, replace the side covers, or eliminate mechanical damage to the frame. In the photo you can see the main components of the design.
Breakdowns of roller shutters and manual roller shutters
Breakage of deadbolt locks due to deformation of the canvas
If the roller shutter is opened and closed incorrectly (jerky, etc.), foreign objects get into the roller shutter structure, or other mechanical impacts occur, the canvas becomes skewed. At the same time, the slats move apart and become wrinkled, and the deadbolt locks break.
In this case, it is necessary to install new deadbolt locks or dismantle, clean and reinstall broken locks. In this case, the canvas usually requires partial or complete reassembly or replacement.
Fallout of side plugs with jamming of the blade
Under mechanical influences such as foreign objects getting into the roller shutters, accumulation of snow, ice, etc. on the roller shutter, the side plugs on the curtain fly out and it “jams.” This is the most annoying problem.
In this case, you have to completely sort out the canvas. The price of the plugs themselves is low, but reassembling the canvas is very labor-intensive, which increases the cost of repairs.
How to repair it yourself?
Not all faults can be eliminated without seeking help from qualified specialists, however, some of them are within the capabilities of any dacha owner. A professional may be needed to help find the cause of the problem, however, most problems can be resolved by the user themselves. To do this, it is important to know the weak points of roller shutters. For example, the canvas most often suffers in winter, since a crust of ice can form on it. When you try to open the canvas, the slats will not be able to move correctly due to the fact that they are bound by ice. If the drive is powerful, the blade will rise, but the lamellas will be deformed and will no longer be able to function normally.
If the canvas is covered with ice and is frozen well, do not try to open it right away. Defrost the structure using, for example, hot water.
If you permanently live in the house and you have the opportunity to monitor the roller shutters, it is recommended to regularly tap them to remove snow and ice. It is not uncommon for the canvas to warp: this usually happens to its lower part. In this case, the canvas may move away from the wall and form cracks. Most often the problem is easy to fix. The dirt accumulated in the guide is to blame: you just need to clean it. This is quite simple to do: you can use a regular flat-head screwdriver, with which you can remove dirt from the guide.
Using roller shutters correctly and knowing their structure, in most cases you can carry out repairs yourself. This does not require large expenses or special tools.
Installation instructions
Anti-vandal and protective roller shutters are installed on a wooden house, both during and after completion of general construction work. Installation technology involves performing a number of actions in a certain order:
- The installation method is determined. In most cases, in wooden country houses, shutters are installed on the outer part of the window opening. You can also use a hidden method, but this must be done at the construction stage, before installing the window frame.
- The completeness of the delivery is checked. Before starting installation work, you must check the presence of all the elements included in the package.
- The edges of the window opening are leveled using a hand or gasoline saw. If this is not done, the guides may lie unevenly, and the entire structure of the shutters will become skewed.
- The guides are being prepared. In wooden houses, a hidden method of installing guides is used. To do this, holes are drilled in them at a distance of 100 mm from the edge in increments of 400 mm with a diameter of 5 mm. Then, using a drill with a diameter of 10 mm, each hole is expanded so that the head of the screw fits flush with the inner side of the guide. If the head of the fastener sticks out, it may get stuck tightly.
- Preparing the protective box. It is attached to the wall at four points. Two points are located at the ends of the box, and two at the back. Two additional holes are drilled in the protective cover, which are closed with rivets after installation is completed. This prevents the lid from being opened using a screwdriver or screwdriver. Then the lid is removed from the box, two guides are installed in special grooves in the drum along which the canvas will slide.
- If the roller shutters are electrically driven, then a wire is pulled along the guide, the other end of which is pulled into the house through a pre-drilled hole.
- The frame is assembled on the ground. To do this, the guides are inserted into special grooves on the box.
- The assembled frame is inserted into the window opening and fixed with 70-80 mm wood screws. Before final fixation, the position of the frame is checked using a level.
- The web is inserted into the drum. First it extends to the middle of the window. A fixing bar is inserted into the upper end. Then it is completely lowered tightly, the bar is fixed on the drum.
- Electric roller shutters are connected to the general house network. Then the limit switches are configured.

Reviews
During operation of roller shutters, various breakdowns may occur, so the methods for eliminating them will differ. You can deal with most problems yourself, and the price of the issue will depend on the complexity of the repair and the cost of spare parts. There are situations when it is easier and cheaper to buy new roller shutters than to repair broken ones. If you follow the operating rules, timely service roller shutters and immediately eliminate identified faults, this equipment will perform its functions for many decades.

Roller shutters for the balcony
Roller shutters can be installed on both the external and internal sides of balcony glazing. If protection against intrusion is not required, then it is better to give preference to internal sliding blinds for windows. Of course, you can make them yourself from scrap materials.
In this case, the quality will suffer, the service life will be significantly lower than that of factory-made blinds. You can make blinds with your own hands from paper, wallpaper or wooden plates.
But this is rather an unnecessary excess. It is much easier to buy a ready-made version in a store.
Balcony roller shutters and blinds need to be looked after. Care consists of washing.
How to remove and wash blinds or roller shutters
Regular sliding blinds are quite easy to remove. First of all, they are opened to the full size of the canvas. Then they are removed from the wall along with the guide.
Roller shutters are more difficult to dismantle. First of all, you need to remove the protective cover from the drum. If it is secured with self-tapping screws, then there will be no special problems. Just take a screwdriver and unscrew the fasteners. If it is attached to rivets, then they must be drilled out with a drill.
After dismantling the protective cover from the shaft, proceed to the canvas. To dismantle it, you need to open it completely and remove the fastening strip. Then pull the fabric through the drum.
After removing the canvas, they begin to dismantle the frame. To do this, remove all the screws from the wall and carefully remove the frame.
Blinds and roller shutters are washed using a sponge and any household cleaner. After washing, they must be dried thoroughly.
Bearing replacement
If a bearing fails, the repair process consists of several stages:
- take a new bearing;
- move the canvas to the lower position so that it is completely open;
- dismantle the protective cover and shaft;
- dismantle the broken element and replace it with a new one;
- We reassemble the structure in reverse order.
How to repair roller shutters
The use of roller shutters has gained great popularity among modern consumers. However, over time, under the influence of environmental factors, even the highest quality and reliable product or its individual element can break. In this case, it is necessary to carry out repairs, which can be easily done with your own hands. To get acquainted with some of the nuances of this process, you can watch the video, which provides answers to many questions.
How to repair roller shutters?
Repair of mechanical and automatic roller shutters
One of the advantages of protective roller shutters is their simple design, which, if necessary, can be repaired without extra costs with your own hands. It is enough to take into account the main nuances and follow safety rules when working with metal structures, having previously studied the instructions for the roller shutter, which indicate the location of the components of the roller shutter system. If it is necessary to eliminate gearbox failure or mechanical damage, evidence of which may be noise in the box, it is enough to complete several basic steps:
- lower the canvas and remove the protective cover from the box;
- find the damaged element and repair the damage;
- if necessary, replace the broken part;
- return the protective cover and canvas to their original place.
Among the main breakdowns of automatic roller shutters, one can note the problematic raising and lowering of the curtain. In some cases, it may not move at all. The main reason may be a broken bolt, which you can repair yourself. In this case, you will need to remove the protective cover and ensure its integrity; if necessary, you can replace the broken part.
Repairing broken side sealing insert
The occurrence of extraneous noise and abrasions on the side of the blade may indicate that the sealing tape, which is located in the side parts of the guide profiles, has become unusable. For repairs, it is necessary to remove the protective cover and lower the blade. After loosening the side cover, you can lift the blade and remove the guide element. Next, it is carefully removed and the sealing element is inserted. When carrying out repairs of various elements of roller shutters, it is necessary to take into account all technical nuances. During operation of roller shutters, it is necessary to remember that timely repairs and elimination of minor breakdowns will significantly extend the period of their operating condition and avoid serious problems. In addition, weather conditions, temperature changes and mechanical stress can have a negative impact. Therefore, if extraneous noise occurs, do not postpone repairs for a long time.
To reliably protect windows, doors or gates from burglary or the negative impact of external factors, devices such as roller shutters are used. They can be made of aluminum or steel profiles, so they can withstand heavy loads and are resistant to corrosion. The service life of roller shutters is long, but sometimes characteristic breakdowns occur that can be fixed with your own hands. Malfunctions must be eliminated immediately, otherwise they can lead to complete failure of the mechanism and then you will have to buy a new device.
What can you fix on your own?
Not every type of repair will be feasible for the average person. Most often, a call to a technician is necessary so that he can at least diagnose the cause of the breakdown. But there are times when you can carry out repair work on roller shutters yourself. Very often in the autumn-winter period after precipitation, the temperature drops sharply. As a result, an ice crust may form on the surface of the canvas. When opening the canvas, it will interfere with it. To fix this, you need to periodically inspect it and lightly tap the surface to remove the ice and snow.
You can often observe a skew of the canvas at the bottom. Because of this, it does not fit tightly to the wall. In this case, there is no need to immediately replace the roller shutters. It is enough to check the guides, in which dirt can simply accumulate.
If you ever encounter similar problems with roller shutters, do not delay repairs. The sooner you find the cause, the faster you can fix it.
