The need to glue various parts together occurs constantly. And it’s useful to have a reliable tool on hand that can cope with this task and create a strong seam. These products include Cosmofen glue, which is characterized by high strength, transparency and quick drying. More details about the features of the adhesive solution, its types and rules of use will be discussed below.
Areas of use
- Cosmofen can be used to glue plastic together. Suitable for PVC, polypropylene. For plastic windows, it is used only when connecting sealing profiles. They glue window joints with it. Used for repairing doors, fittings, and windows. Properties do not allow gluing porous plastic. The product is absorbed into the pores, the adhesive seam loses its strength.
- Cosmofen is a popular adhesive for suspended ceilings.
- They are constantly used in mechanical engineering, shipbuilding and aircraft construction.
- In medicine it is used in the production of orthopedic shoes and in dentistry.
- Glue wood, fiberboard, chipboard.

- Glues together sailboat models.
- Used in plumbing work, you can glue pipes, drains, fittings.
- Cosmofen is used to glue electronic and optical devices during assembly.
- You can connect rubber, metal, glass.
- Mixed with primer to create an adhesive for silicone and thermoplastic elastomers.
General information
The minimum temperature regime at which the use of glue is allowed is at least +5 degrees. A reliable cap that closes tightly after use prevents premature drying. The disadvantage of the product is that the resulting glue seam softens at a temperature level of +85 degrees, and therefore we do not recommend gluing those elements that you plan to use at high temperatures or have contact with hot objects. In liquid form, ethyl cyanocrylate, which is contained in the glue, is toxic and releases harmful substances. For this reason, when performing work indoors, it is necessary to ventilate them as best as possible.
Application area. "Cosmofen" has a wide range of uses:
It is used to work with different types of plastic (including polypropylene and PVC). When installing windows, an adhesive composition is used to fasten profiles for sealing. It is not used for gluing porous plastics, because the adhesive, when absorbed by the pores, does not provide the required strength for the connection.- "Cosmofen" will become an indispensable element for plumbing work.
- The adhesive is widely used in the production of toys, as well as in the creation of various costume jewelry.
- Used in sailing modeling.
- The assembly of products from the electrical and radio-electronic industries cannot be done without such glue.
- Used to create optical devices.

Finishing slopes of plastic windows using liquid plastic
The installation process does not end with the installation of new plastic blocks and additional finishing of window openings is required. Therefore, after installing glazed window frames, there is always a need to finish the slopes. This is due to a number of reasons:
- Slopes increase the thermal insulation of the room, maintaining its microclimate;
- These elements serve as additional protection against noise;
- The design of the window slopes gives the windows completeness.
In order for plastic slopes to look in one ensemble with the windows and perform all the tasks assigned to them, their finishing should be approached with special care and the connection with the window structure should be carried out as carefully as possible.
Finishing with liquid plastic is the final stage of the installation of slopes. With its help, you can successfully solve the problem of not only sealing slopes, but also decorating them. To do this, the joint area is treated with this polymer not only between the window frame profile and the slope panels, but also between the slope panel located at the top and the side facing panel. The seams perpendicular to the window between the side slopes and the window sill are sealed from below.
With proper, careful finishing, a single harmonious design of the window opening is obtained.

Cosmo glue has many positive properties that set it apart from other adhesives. To get a transparent and reliable seam, it is enough to use a small amount of solution, which saves money. A small tube is enough to glue many objects. But it is important to remember that work with the composition must be carried out in compliance with safety measures; the components are toxic substances that are dangerous to the health of the person doing the gluing. There will be no harm after drying.
Varieties
Polyurethane Cosmofen is available in several modifications.
Cosmofen CA 12
Cosmofen CA 12 glue is a cyanoacrylate composition. It is intended for plastic.
Other materials can also be glued, but plastic exhibits better adhesive properties.
Cosmofen CA 12 glues EPDM seal profiles and fixes them on aluminum and PVC profiles. You can connect silicone seals, rubber, elastomers, and bond polymers.
The composition completely applied to the bonded surface hardens after 16 hours, and the initial adhesion to the material occurs after 15 seconds. The glued seam is strong and transparent. Superglue comes in small plastic bottles with a long, thin spout.
Cosmoplast 500
Cosmoplast 500 is a cyanoacrylate-based adhesive. It is sold in plastic bottles adapted for targeted application of the product. You can connect different materials, including rubber, plastic.
The composition was used:
- when repairing electronics;
- in the production of windows;
- in the production of advertising products;
- in medicine, mechanical engineering.
Fixation occurs instantly. Therefore, the parts to be connected must initially be placed in the correct position.
The seam is durable and waterproof. The density of the mixture is 1.05 g/cubic. cm, density – 20 mPas. The crystallized seam is resistant to high temperatures and aggressive substances.
The maximum operating temperature for glued substrates is +80°C. If you expose the pasted material to this temperature, it will come unstuck.
Other brands of Cosmofen glue
- Cosmoplast 505, Cosmo CA-500.120 - these mixtures harden extremely quickly. If they are mixed with a primer of the same brand, the strength characteristics of the composition can be significantly increased. They can glue polyamides, polyolefins, oilcloth, silicone seals, elastomers, rubber, and plastic. Cosmoplast 505 is actively used in shoe repair and for gluing leather.
- Cosmo CA130 (Cosmoplast 515) – compositions for gluing decorative film on any substrate. The film sticks without bubbles. The seam crystallizes in 3 minutes, which allows you to quickly change the position of the film and eliminate emerging defects. The composition is used in the engineering industry and other industries.
- Cosmo CA140 (Cosmoplast 516) – is capable of gluing metal parts, plastic, and rubber seals together.
- Cosmo CA170 (Cosmoplast 564) - can connect highly porous surfaces, it is widely used in the installation of sewer systems and in the manufacture of seals.
- Cosmo CA500.200 adhesive is a means for quick fixation. You can connect parts made of rubber, plastics, metals, elastomers, leather, ceramics, stone, and other popular materials. The seam is strong, rigid, resistant to high temperatures, and does not contain solvents.
- Cosmofen Plus is a white composition, which, when applied, creates a super-strong seam.
To accelerate the polymerization of the applied adhesive composition, an additional cyanoacrylate adhesive activator “AC-12” is used. It is produced in aerosol form and acts as a catalyst that helps glue parts together faster.
Liquid plastic is an ideal adhesive for PVC windows
Owners of PVC windows are faced with the problem of using various adhesives to seal joints; not all of them do their job well.
A new adhesive has appeared on the market, used for sealing the seams of PVC windows, which we will discuss in the article. Plastic structures are in great demand due to their affordable price, ease and speed of installation. The main problem when installing PVC windows is sealing the joints of window blocks with slopes. When using traditional sealants, the following problems arise:
- have an unpleasant feature: they interact with flavoring chemicals and absorb tobacco smoke, acquiring a bright yellow color after a few months;
- have low adhesive qualities, so over time they peel off or are completely washed off;
- at high humidity they turn black and become moldy;
- when using silicone, the slopes may peel off from each other after a few months due to temperature fluctuations, and the material will begin to peel off;
- MS polymers are initially milky in color and do not change, but there is a high probability of acquiring a fake, which can have unpredictable consequences.
A new adhesive has appeared - liquid plastic (LP).
Its main advantages:
- firmly glues the slopes to the window and to each other, this is explained by diffusion welding of surfaces at the joints, a single part is formed that has no signs of mating and no color differences;
- the adhesive material matches the material from which the windows are made, which ensures maximum compatibility of the parts being glued;
- does not change color for 15 years;
- does not absorb tobacco smoke;
- completely seals joints and cracks;
- moisture resistant;
- does not turn yellow over time, does not fall apart, and therefore does not stand out against the background of the window;
- resistant to temperature changes, exposure to ultraviolet rays and atmospheric conditions;
- fungus and mold do not form on the surface;
- resistant to mechanical and chemical influences;
- environmentally friendly;
- durable.
There is a drawback, the first of which is the high drying speed. When extruded onto the surface, there is only 60 seconds to apply and level the adhesive. If you spend more time, a film will form on the surface of the plastic, which will prevent you from creating a normal seam. The second big disadvantage is the toxicity of the material. It has a strong chemical smell that can cause headaches when exhaled. In addition, the instructions say that the glue causes cancer.
Instructions for use
To ensure reliable fixation of materials, it is necessary to use the adhesive composition correctly. It is advisable to do the gluing process in accordance with the instructions.
- The surfaces to be glued must first be cleaned of dust, dirt, chips and burrs. Grease and oil stains need to be washed off. To remove dirt, you can use detergents applied to rags. If it is necessary to glue aluminum parts, they must first be coated with varnish or Kosmoplast 10 cleaner (this is a solvent composition). The solvent is applied to the metal with a lint-free cloth. Such cleaners have an antistatic effect.
- After cleaning, the surface is degreased using products that can dissolve stubborn oil stains.
- If the composition is one-component, it can be immediately applied to the prepared surface. If the glue is two-component, its components are mixed. If necessary, Cosmofen can be diluted to the desired consistency.
- The finished composition is applied to one of the surfaces to be bonded. It is convenient to use Cosmofen; the container is equipped with a dispenser located on the lid. Thanks to this shape of the container, it is possible to do a spot application of the adhesive mixture.
- The second surface must be applied to the first, press them together with your hands for 10-15 seconds. The final hardening of the seam occurs after 6-16 hours. The use of glue is impossible if the gap between the bonded surfaces is more than 0.1 mm. Since the composition has a low viscosity, it will not bond the parts treated with it.
- If the dried glue extends beyond the surfaces being fastened, it must be removed with a knife.
You need to wear gloves and safety glasses to work, since cyanoacrylate is a dangerous substance that can instantly glue your fingers and eyelids to each other. It is necessary to use a respirator, since the glue is very toxic, its vapors can harm the respiratory system and cause allergic reactions. Since the composition ignites quickly, you need to work away from sources of open flame.
Terms of use
- The composition of Cosmofen CA 12 includes a substance such as cyanoacrylate. It is very dangerous for human skin and eyelids, as it can instantly glue them together upon direct contact;
- It is also strictly not recommended to breathe in vapors of the product. According to reviews, allergic skin rashes, nausea and dizziness are very likely to occur. Therefore, it can only be used in a well-ventilated area;
- Under no circumstances should you smoke in the work area, as the product is highly flammable.
How to wipe off Cosmofen
To remove Cosmofen from areas of material that cannot be bonded, you can use Cosmo CL-300.150 cleaner.
You can clean the dried composition using a mechanical method: sandpaper, knife or soda. The method is used as a last resort. May cause surface damage.
The pharmaceutical product Dimexide dissolves well and removes excess superglue. To wash Cosmofen, just pour it onto the excess glue and wait until it softens. Afterwards, the soft mixture can be easily removed with a napkin or sponge. Dimexide can remove adhesive from plastic, laminate and even clothing. The surface of any of these materials will not be damaged by the pharmaceutical composition.
You only need to clean your hands from the frozen adhesive mixture with Dimexide diluted with water, since the concentrated composition can cause a burn.
Further surface treatment
During operation, drops of cosmophene may fall on the working tool. To clean the product you will need a special solvent. The cleaner should be of the same brand as the liquid plastic itself.
If cosmofen gets on a plastic surface and there are adhesive traces left there, remove them with a sharp knife. Before using these methods, you must wait until the adhesive mass has completely dried.
Cosmoplast 597 allows you to wipe off the glue in cases where the product has not yet had time to dry completely.
It is best not to allow liquid plastic to come into contact with surfaces. This is due to the fact that it is not always possible to completely remove the remaining adhesive solution from the coating and stains may remain.
