For the buyer, the main issue is choosing a plastic window from the many available on the market. This product is made from PVC profile:
- Frame.
- Sash.
- Impost.
- Additional components.
- Docking elements.
It is not surprising that the quality of a window is primarily associated with the type of profile system . The main functions of windows are thermal insulation , noise protection and waterproofing . To answer which type of profile to choose, you need to decide what is primarily required from your windows. This can include maintaining a constant microclimate, sound insulation, reliable waterproofing and interesting design.
Every window serves a specific purpose. Each manufacturer claims that they produce the best profile. Mont Blanc and Rehau are widely represented on the Russian plastic window market. Let's take a closer look at these profile systems.
Advantages of Rehau and Mont Blanc
The products of each competing company - Mont Blanc and Rehau - have their own significant advantages. To make your choice easier, it is worth considering the strengths of each manufacturer.
Benefits of Rehau
The Rehau company began active production activities in 1948 in Germany, the first PVC window profile was released in 1959, its windows have the following advantages:
- The quality of the products has been confirmed by more than half a century of experience with extremely positive ratings.
- A huge selection of colors and designs.
- There are offers for economy class, which makes German quality accessible to everyone.
- Excellent thermal savings (maximum – 1.05 m2°C/W), noise protection (up to 47 dB).
- Availability of cutting-edge models with fiber reinforcement, which reduces the weight of the frame and the degree of wear of the fittings.
- The presence of types with 6 chambers and a three-circuit two-leaf seal that does not have internal cavities, which means it does not collect moisture.
- A unique super smooth surface that does not retain dirt, which greatly facilitates product care.
- A unique chemical composition that increases the strength of the frame, as well as maintaining the whiteness of its surface throughout its entire service life.
Montblanc benefits
The production of our own plastic profiles under the Montblanc brand in Russia was launched in 2001, it is located in the Moscow region, and their windows have the following advantages:
- Production takes place in Russia, which affects the cost of products.
- Narrow focus - only window plastic of different formats (frames, window sills, slopes).
- Smooth rounded shape, present even in economy class options.
- The presence of our own patented technology is a structural feature of the frame, which determines uniform temperature distribution over its inner surface.
- Adaptation of products specifically for the Russian climate.
- Availability of a deep 120 mm model, suitable for creating internal partitions.
The main differences between Rehau and Montblanc
Plastic windows made from Rehau profiles have the following differences from Mont Blanc products:
- The Germans have a wider range of products – more than ten types versus seven.
- The most budget-friendly Rehau variation - Euro-Design 60 - has a depth of 60 mm, three chambers, sound insulation of 35 dB, a double-circuit seal, the largest glass width of 32 mm, heat transfer resistance of 0.65. And a similar class profile for windows from the Mont Blanc line - LOGIC - is distinguished by a thickness of 58 mm with the same three chambers, double-glazed windows up to 32 mm, a double-circuit seal, a heat saving index of 0.58, and sound insulation of only 30 dB, but at a lower cost. The same situation is observed with Mont Blanc's ECO 60. Even though the main characteristics coincide, ECO 60 still loses to its German competitor - 0.58 versus 0.65 m2°C/W, 30 versus 35 dB.
- In terms of maximum characteristics, Rehau also takes the lead. Their highest coefficient of resistance to heat loss is 1.05 versus 0.77 for Montblanc, sound insulation is 47 versus 35 dB, double-glazed windows are up to 54 versus 52 mm, the Germans have a three-circuit seal versus a double-circuit seal from the Russian manufacturer. However, the Russians win in terms of installation depth of products - 120 mm versus 86 mm.
Comparison of Rehau and Montblanc profiles by characteristics
To see all the differences between Rehau and Montblanc windows, you should conduct a separate comparison of each parameter of the profiles of both competitors - their quality, functionality, durability.
When choosing a particular profile for plastic windows, consider the following technical characteristics:
- number of air chambers;
- installation depth of the frame;
- wall thickness;
- reinforcement;
- sealing contour;
- permissible width of double-glazed windows.
Waterproofing and quality of sealants used
Waterproofing of a plastic window is its ability to prevent moisture from passing from the street into the frame, glass unit or room. This determines whether the window will fog up, whether ice will form on it in winter, and also how long it will retain its external aesthetics. Waterproofing is determined by the choice of material and the amount of sealant used. These parameters are also responsible for maintaining the proper level of heat and sound insulation properties.
PVC windows of both competitors - Mont Blanc and Rehau - boast a high-quality modern double-leaf EPDM seal, which provides excellent waterproofing. The difference is that in Russian designs there are always two sealing circuits, while the Germans have a three-circuit model (Geneo).
Sound and heat insulation
The main thing you should pay attention to is the ability of windows to retain heat in the room and leave noise outside. These properties depend on a number of factors - the thickness of the frame walls and the depth of its seating in the window opening, the intimacy and conscientiousness when performing the seal. If we compare the types available from competitors, Mont Blanc plastic windows lag slightly behind Rehau products:
- Three-chamber versions of German origin have heat transfer resistance of 0.64 - 0.65, and sound insulation - from 30 to 35 dB. Both designs with three chambers from the Russian plant have the same heat retention and sound insulation indicators - 0.58 m2°C/W, 30 dB.
- For the Rehau design with five chambers, the considered characteristics are 0.80 - 0.85, 32 - 45, and for similar Mont Blanc products - 0.70 - 0.77, 30 - 35 dB.
- German premium systems with six cameras have 0.95 - 1.05, 47, the best Russian one has 0.82 m2°C/W, 35 dB.
Reinforcement type
Reinforcement is a steel liner placed inside the frame, which is responsible for its strength characteristics. Both companies reinforce their products, but Mont Blanc windows use exclusively a U-shaped base, while Rehau products also use a G-shaped base, which means they are stronger and more reliable.
An additional advantage for the German manufacturer is definitely the fact that it has developed, patented and has already put into practice the unique fiber reinforcement technology RAU-FIPRO (Geneo). Its essence is that reinforcement is carried out at the stage of manufacturing the profile frame - the reinforcing mesh is located in the mass, therefore, subsequent reinforcement by inserting a steel base is not required. The result is a reduction in the weight of the window system, which expands the range of its application and also increases the service life of the fittings. The strength properties are not reduced.
Mounting depth
Mounting depth is the distance that the window frame will occupy in the opening. Its increase allows you to place more air chambers, make them larger, and use a wider glass unit. All these factors directly affect the parameters of heat conservation and protection from street noise penetration. The deeper it is, the heavier the frame, but at the same time it is stronger, more reliable, safer, and can withstand high wind loads.
The assortment of both companies includes deep and not so deep designs:
- Rehau has from 60 to 86 mm.
- Montblanc has a profile of 58 – 120 mm.
The best model of German origin (86 mm) has better thermal and noise insulation properties than the 120 mm Russian leader - 1.05 versus 0.72 m2°C/W. But at the same time, the Mont Blanc product boasts the highest strength, allowing it to be used for arranging interior partitions.
Thickness of the outer wall of the profile
Russian GOST and international standards, in order for a profile to belong to the highest class A, set a minimum value for the thickness of its outer wall - 3 mm. Both manufacturers have the following types in their lineup:
- Among the windows of the Mont Blanc company are Nord 60, Thermo 60, Grand 80, City 120. For other types, this parameter does not reach the norm, for example, for logic, the wall thickness is only 2.4 mm (class C), and for quad 70 - 2 .5 mm (class B).
- Rehau's first-class products are Diamond, Delight, Intelio, and Geneo. All other types have a smaller wall thickness.
Maximum glass thickness
The deeper the profile, the thicker the glass unit can be inserted into it. The thicker the double-glazed window, the more glass it can contain, and accordingly, the number of chambers between them increases. The thickness of the canvases themselves also increases. These factors determine an increase in insulation characteristics (heat, noise), which means that the larger the width of the installed double-glazed window, the warmer and quieter the room will be.
The profile used in the manufacture of Montblanc windows allows the insertion of double-glazed windows with a maximum thickness of 52 mm - Grand 80. The Rehau company has almost the same situation with this parameter - the maximum possible thickness of a double-glazed window is 54 mm - Geneo.
Number of air chambers
The number of air chambers in the profile is responsible for its energy-saving and sound-proofing properties. The greater their number, the higher these characteristics. The minimum number of cameras is three. Three-chamber models are not perfect, but they resist heat transfer quite well; they are classified as economy class products:
- Rehau has several of them, the most popular are Euro-Design 60 (0.65 m2°C/W), Blitz (0.64 m2°C/W).
- There are only two such models in the PVC profile for windows from Montblanc - LOGIC, ECO 60 (0.58 m2°C/W).
Six-camera models:
- For Mont Blanc it is GRAND 80 (0.82 m2°C/W).
- Rehau has two of them - Intelio, Geneo (0.95, 1.05 m2°C/W).
Disadvantages of Montblanc windows
Disadvantages of windows identified by consumers:
Bad fittings
Don't buy cheap accessories
One of the visitors to the “Windows Plan” website encountered this problem, which is not uncommon in our time. He writes: “Montblanc window handles are rattling and flying out.” Take more expensive accessories, and there will be no problems.
Smell
The windows are of high quality, but the seal has a bad odor. Even the mosquito net smells of chemicals. This is noted by many, including one of the guests on the Windows Plan forum. This is possible if the seal and mesh were made without observing the necessary technological standards.
To get rid of the pungent odor from the seals and mosquito nets, wash them with soapy water. The smell will not disappear completely, but it will become weaker. And over time it will disappear completely.
Ordered one thing and received another
And one last review. A guest of the ID4/top website, Alex, writes that he paid for Eco 60 windows, but was disappointed when they were delivered. “The advertisement promised round glazing beads, but now the manufacturer replaced them with square ones. The design naturally suffered from this. I contacted the dealer with a complaint, and he offered to sort it out in court. But the contract doesn’t say anything about glazing beads, what kind of court is there?!”
This situation can be avoided by being more careful when drawing up the contract. After all, our country is such that everything needs to be certified on a piece of paper: from the size of the window to its color and the shape of the glazing beads.
Appearance and service life
Regarding the service life of window profiles, Montblanc and Rehau provide a 60-year guarantee on their products. This parameter is established by manufacturers through various tests carried out in special accelerated time chambers. The profile is placed in a closed space, where it is subjected to loads of various types, such as it would experience over a long period of operation.
There is no real confirmation of the service life of window profiles in Russian conditions, since the age of the oldest plastic window installed in Russia is about 20 years. In terms of appearance, Rehau is the leader, since their products always remain white and bright, they are very smooth, and practically do not get dirty.
What is controversial?
Montblanc qualities that cannot be assessed one-sidedly:
Yellowness
On the “Windows Plan” forum, a certain comrade Foreman noted that after three months the Mont Blanc windows turn yellow. Other users disagreed with him. And they gave examples en masse: some have windows that last for three years, and some have five – and there’s no trace of yellowing at all!
Here, of course, the majority is right. The main thing is not to wash windows with caustic detergents. And everything will be fine with them.
Thermal insulation and sealing
Incorrect installation or bad window?
“The window was installed 2 years ago. It doesn’t blow and doesn’t freeze!” writes Irina on the ID4/top website.
Igor from the same site adds: “In winter, with new windows, I walked around the house in a T-shirt and shorts.” This is how it should be when the windows are installed correctly.
For user Ioan (same source), everything is exactly the opposite: “With Montblanc, I wear felt boots at home in the winter.” The reason for this is poor installation, and nothing more.
Profile quality
“My father installed a white Mont Blanc profile laminated with color film. After a year and a half, two white sashes burst, and the laminated window was deformed, since it is on the sunny side,” Dmitry shares on the ID4/top website.
It’s not a fact that it’s a matter of profile quality. After all, even the most expensive windows burst and become deformed if they are installed incorrectly. And where has it been seen that a window becomes deformed in the sun? Even if it's laminated? At most, the film will come off the glass.
Comparative table of Rehau and Montblanc profiles
For easy comparison of Rehau profiles with products from Montblanc, their main characteristics are collected in the following table.
Manufacturer | Series | Glass unit thickness, mm | Number of air chambers | Thermal protection coefficient, m2C/W |

Eco 60 | 32 | 3 | 0,58 | |
Logic | 32 | 3 | 0,58 |
After analyzing this table, you can compare, for example, Montblanc Nord with Brillant, Grazio, Delight from Rehau with similar technical characteristics. All of them have five chambers, a mounting thickness of 70 mm. German products are inferior to Russian ones by only 1 mm in the thickness of the glass unit. In terms of heat retention, they are ahead of it from 0.80 to 0.85 versus 0.77 m2C/W.
Common features
These two profile systems have a lot in common. Due to the fact that the Russian consumer is most interested in the issue of energy saving , for now we will exclude from consideration profile systems intended for objects. Based on their purpose, they do not have very high consumer properties .
In Russia, with its climatic zones from the subtropics to the Arctic, it is necessary to constantly improve window systems. Even in the south there are serious temperature differences, which requires the use of structures with increased energy efficiency. Montblanc Nord and Rehau Sib Design are recommended for use in all climate zones. Both have a width (installation depth) of 70 mm . You can install double-glazed windows of approximately the same thickness, up to 44 mm and 42 mm , respectively. It is possible to use double-glazed windows. There are two contours of rubber seals. Double-leaf seals.
Price comparison between Rehau and Mont Blanc
The following table allows you to compare the estimated costs of products from competitors Montblanc and Rehau.
Manufacturer | Name | Price for double-hung window (from, rub.) |
REHAU | Geneo 86 | 10250 |
Intelio 80 | 9960 | |
Brillant 70 | 9750 | |
Grazio 70 | 9800 | |
Delight 70 | 9680 | |
Blitz 60 | 9400 | |
Euro 60 | 9600 | |
MONTBLANC | Grand 80 | 8008 |
Nord 70 | 6176 | |
Quadro 70 | 7098 | |
Termo 60 | 6010 | |
Eco 60 | 5100 |
Analysis of prices in the table shows that Mont Blanc windows are much cheaper than products from Rehau. This is explained both by their production at a Russian plant and by slightly reduced technical, quality, and operational characteristics.
Choosing between Rehau and Mont Blanc
Mont Blanc or Rehau - the buyer decides for himself what is better - guaranteed German quality and longevity or Russian, slightly less demonstrative, but more affordable production.
To summarize, it is worth noting that:
- Rehau's profile is warmer.
- Both manufacturers offer a lot of variations in color or texture, but Rehau’s premium solutions in this regard have unlimited possibilities.
- In terms of profile shape, the Mont Blanc company is slightly ahead, since even its budget models have rounded soft contours.
- The room will definitely be quieter with windows from a German manufacturer.
- Mont Blanc windows win in terms of cost.
A reliable, durable window from the German company Rehau is more expensive, but by choosing it, the buyer will enjoy the warmth, silence and comfortable atmosphere in the house for at least half a century. If cost savings in relation to decent quality are in the foreground, then in this case products from the Russian Mont Blanc plant, which have average heat and sound insulation parameters, will fit perfectly.
If you need 100% tightness, reliable protection from drafts and blowing, and do not want to peel off ice in winter, windows from a German manufacturer will be your best choice. You can order Rehau windows with delivery and turnkey installation in Moscow, Zelenograd and the region on our website, or by calling the company’s managers. We will make an approximate calculation and advise you on prices, lamination options and type of double-glazed windows.
MONT BLANC windows reviews
review of MONTBLANC No. 1: The profile is normal, and heat and sound are not allowed in, there is a “winter-summer” adjustment on the windows. Just don't be a moron, sometimes you need to read the instructions.
review of MONTBLANC No. 2: The profile could have turned yellow due to the wrong product used when cleaning the window! In my practice, there was a case when my grandmother washed the windows with bleach, the profile immediately turned yellow. If you are sure that the profile has turned yellow on its own, contact the company that installed the windows; they should replace the products under warranty.
review of MONTBLANC No. 3: Well, firstly, it all depends on the system and under what conditions it is installed. As far as we know, there are several systems, logic, city, nord, etc. The highest quality of them is Nord (suitable for almost all weather conditions). Well, secondly, in pursuit of cheapness, you yourself very often do not pay attention to operating conditions, etc., etc.
review of MONTBLANC No. 4: practice shows that Mont Blanc does not turn yellow.
review of MONTBLANC No. 5: If the MontBlanc profile has turned yellow, then what do the defects in assembly and fittings have to do with it?
review of MONTBLANC No. 6: These are shortcomings in the assembly and of course the fittings! They have nothing to do with the profile. Install the Roto NT Disinio fittings, with Hoppo or Roto handles, and forget about your grief. And your shortcomings with the window are just an attempt to save money and get a cheaper window, 100 points! Miser pays twice.
review of MONTBLANC No. 7: At my facility, different window companies installed two types of windows, Elex and Montblanc. After three months, the Mont Blancs became yellowish and the fittings became faulty. The customer is not happy.
review of MONTBLANC No. 8: not satisfied! Montblanc - not windows, but you won’t understand what! handles rattle, fly out, crackle! tightness is bad! I wouldn't have installed it if I knew!
review of MONTBLANC No. 9: The technical characteristics of any product are always important to me. The Montblanc profile seemed to best meet my requirements. The manager of the window company also agreed with me. I had two windows installed. Reviews have been positive so far. Both windows block out street noise almost completely. Only very loud and sharp sounds can be heard. This made me very happy. And they keep the heat great. Everyone is happy.
review of MONTBLANC No. 10: When we were choosing a profile for future windows at a window company, I especially liked MONTBLANC logic. The beautiful rounded edges looked very original. They stopped there. When the finished product arrived, I was glad that I had made such a choice. The windows look incredibly elegant. Reviews about heat and sound insulation are also very good. But still, the choice was made precisely because of the appearance.
review of MONTBLANC No. 11: it is not the profile that holds the heat, but the glass unit. After all, 90% of the window is a package, and 10 percent is a profile! and plus a high-quality installation with all the tapes - psul-ursa - hydro and vapor barrier tape and everything is in chocolate, and the profile is not so important which one to install.
review of MONTBLANC No. 12: But I think that the profile is not the main thing in windows. If you install a high-quality Mont Blanc or a simple cheap profile, you will not feel the difference.
review of MONTBLANC No. 13: We spent a long time deciding which profile to choose when ordering new windows. Ultimately we settled on Montblanc. In addition to the beautiful appearance, I would like to especially note the sound insulation. We didn't even count on this. Everything is just great. No noise from the street can be heard at all. We couldn't be happier. And reviews about how the windows retain heat are also very positive. In general, comfortable and warm.
