Bedroom with two windows: an overview of the advantages of this layout (60 photos)

Source: //dizajninfo.ru In a bedroom setting, not much attention is usually paid to windows, but this is precisely what leads to the fact that the interior is not very comfortable. This is one of the most common mistakes that you should avoid. The role of glazing is especially important in bedrooms where there are two windows - such a room turns out to be very bright, which imposes some requirements on the construction of the environment and space planning.

Decoration

To decorate a small bedroom with two windows, it is better to think about every detail. After all, the desired result is a cozy and exclusive bedroom.

It’s worth noting that there are a couple of unusual options:

When placing windows at a short distance from each other on the same wall, you can use ordinary, undecorated curtains. Choose a lightweight, opaque material;

Curtains, or roller blinds, blinds are perfect for a bedroom with a corner placement;

Decorate the opening distance with light drapery.

Layout features

Plenty of natural light is always a good thing, but a bedroom is all about rest and peace, which light can sometimes interfere with. The arrangement of furniture and the choice of textiles largely depend on the layout options and window location. Among the characteristic features of such premises are:

  • light saturation, which requires attention when choosing colors and allows you to place plants;
  • high noise level - windows allow sounds to pass through, which can disturb sleep in bad weather or during heavy traffic.

Windows can be located in one wall, adjacent walls or opposite each other. Also, the room may be so small that it becomes impossible to arrange the furniture successfully. Here textiles will come to the rescue, which can be used to drape walls and windows.

On a note

Lightweight design options are the most practical. After all, they are not simple, they simply do not fit into the overall environment. Stock up on materials to renovate a bedroom with two windows: paint, plaster, wallpaper.

The latter material is chosen in two versions. These are plain or slightly patterned wallpapers.

Avoid glossy materials. They are able to reflect lighting and attract unwanted glances. In general, this focuses attention on something that is not really needed.

Important! If we talk about the ceiling, it doesn’t matter whether it is suspended or suspended, painted or whitewashed. In this matter, the main thing is simplicity. Non-simple designs will seem ridiculous and will not fit into the overall picture.

Textile

The choice of textiles plays a key role in the interior of the bedroom. For several windows, decorating with curtains or blinds is desirable, but not necessary. Classic floor-length curtains or tulle will be appropriate even in small rooms. Roller blinds are also a practical and economical option for small bedrooms. Natural materials and rich colors will not spoil the room, but will only decorate it.

French and panoramic windows will look good even without decoration. For large and bright rooms, it is advisable to choose heavy fabrics in rich colors. High ceilings allow the installation of a lambrequin and will visually make the room smaller and more comfortable.

Tips for choosing textiles:

  • The bedspreads and pillows on the bed should match the fabric upholstery of the chairs or curtains. It is appropriate to use no more than four different colors.
  • Even if the window does not have a bay window, you can still create a cozy corner under it. A bean bag or a small pouf will not take up much space, but will decorate the bedroom.
  • A nice detail would be a blanket thrown over the headboard of a bed or chair.

The presence of curtains does not necessarily require tulle - you can choose only one option. The main thing to remember is that curtains should not only brighten the room, but also protect the sleeper from sunlight. Therefore, the choice should be functional - sweaty materials will do.

Zones

It is not recommended to use partitions in such a situation, because such structures will interfere with normal lighting. And as you know, lack of lighting visually reduces space. You don't need this at all. Therefore, choose a screen. Enclose the bed with a canopy.

Color is your main assistant in creating a bedroom design. Give preference to a calm and slightly darkened color in the place where you will relax and sleep.

You can fill the living room area with bright colors, in this case it will be appropriate. Play with texture even when the lighting in your room is good enough.

Selection of furniture and its arrangement

In the bedroom, furniture begins with the bed. The subsequent selection and arrangement of furniture is determined by its location and size. It is advisable to arrange the sleeping place parallel to the wall with windows. The light should not fall on the headboard.

  • It is appropriate to place the head of the bed against the wall with windows, if they are on either side of it.
  • If the window is French or panoramic and offers a beautiful view, then the bed is placed opposite, and the windows are decorated with curtains.
  • In the case of windows in adjacent walls, the bed is placed parallel to the wall with one of the windows.
  • In attics and basements with windows located near the ceiling, the bed can be placed anywhere.

The passages to the windows should remain free of large furniture (cabinets and chests of drawers). The exception is small windows located above the equator of the walls.

The space near the windows can be occupied by a desk (if necessary) or an armchair with a table.

To save space in the bedroom, it is appropriate to install built-in wardrobes. However, it is better to opt for a small cabinet, dressing table or chest of drawers to store the necessary things. You can put a mirror on the floor nearby or hang it above the chest of drawers.

A bookcase can be placed between window openings if it does not block sunlight. It is not recommended to hang a TV in this place - it will be uncomfortable to watch.

Color design

Not all colors are suitable in such bright, saturated lighting. If you take into account bright colors, they will serve as irritants. If you choose very light colors, it will also not look very harmonious.

Choose a range of calm pastel colors. These colors are soft yellow, blue, or pale light green.

If your bedroom is located in the south or southeast, then choose cool shades.

The colors of nature always remain relevant. This is wood, mustard, sand, stone. They will make your room organic, wrap it in an atmosphere of coziness and comfort.

To achieve a good result, approach the design wisely and think through all the details in advance. Then your bedroom will acquire an unusual and stylish shade.

Position of the table relative to the window: good lighting

If you do not have a strictly imposed place in which the area should be organized for working at home or studying, then start by analyzing the location of the table from the point of view of the possibility of isolation from the rest of the household and good natural light

The location of your home work area relative to sunlight levels is very important. How to make a workplace by the window?

Strong southern and western light is especially difficult during the summer months, as it tends to heat up your workspace at home, making computer work much more difficult. It is best if you place the table on the north or east side, then diffused light will help in your work. If you have the opportunity, then place the table close to the window, since in daylight the eyes are least tired, and at the same time, when working on a computer, it is good to take your eyes off the monitor from time to time and watch the street.

Curtains for several windows: a few more recommendations

If the top edge of the windows is located at different heights, this can introduce a certain amount of visual chaos and create a cluttered appearance. You can, of course, hang curtains at different levels, but if you visually align the windows, the composition will be more harmonious. To do this, you need to place the cornices at the same distance from the ceiling. When deciding on the design of multi-level windows, be sure to consider this leveling scheme.

The smaller the room and the larger the windows, the lighter the curtains should be. This will avoid making the room visually smaller and making the atmosphere heavier.

If one or more windows are small in size and do not require curtains for the comfort of the household, you can (and probably even need to) leave them bare. There is no need to cover all the windows of the room with fabrics.
