The development of a new profile system that meets the high demands of the modern window market was not an accident. This is the result of long and careful work by GEALAN designers. After analyzing the advantages and combining some parts of different systems into one, a new profile system S 9000 was developed, the thermal conductivity coefficient of which Uf is 0.92 W/m²K, when the profiles are reinforced with steel reinforcement.

The new GEALAN S 9000 system is a combined profile system with triple sealing. It combines the advantages of middle and outer seal systems. The installation width, deepened to 83 mm, 6 internal chambers of the window frame and sash profile, 3 seals significantly increase heat and sound insulation. The third middle seal not only improves heat and sound insulation, but also protects the window fittings from moisture. System S 9000 profiles for display cases are supplied without the third middle seal.

The development of the new triple seal system is the result of long and careful work by GEALAN designers.

For glazing S 9000 windows, you can use double-chamber glass units up to 54 mm wide. Increasing the installation depth to 26 mm protects areas of the glass unit that are more sensitive to cold from environmental influences. Thermal insulation performance is improved.

The windows of the S 9000 system can be glazed using STV® technology. A glass package glued into a sash using STV® technology, using double-sided tape, becomes an element of rigidity of the window structure. This design can withstand higher static loads than standard windows.

Standard window elements can be used without a reinforcing profile, which facilitates the design as a whole, giving advantages during installation, reducing the load on the window fittings and while maintaining very good static performance. The combination of STV® static gluing technology with subsequent insertion of reinforcement allows the production of elements of previously unattainable sizes and obtaining visible functional advantages. Complete gluing of the glass unit and the sash fundamentally increases the level of protection against burglary.

The large installation width of 83 mm ensures good compatibility with the S 9000 system and allows the use of many additional parts from other profile systems.

Which plastic windows are better: Rehau or Melke

Criterion 1: thermal insulation

In a broad sense, in terms of thermal insulation level, Melke outperforms Rehau - the first manufacturer has a maximum indicator of 1.08 m2°C/V, and the second 1.05 m2°C/V. But if you compare systems of similar classes, you will notice that:

  1. The basic three-chamber lines Blitz New from Rehau and Lite from Melke with an installation depth of 60 mm have the same heat retention coefficient - 0.74 m2C/W.
  2. Standard class models with a depth of 70 mm, 4 cameras and five-chamber premium systems are also approximately equal in performance. For Melke, only Evolution is ahead. With a depth of 70 mm and 5 chambers, it has an incredibly high coefficient of 1.06 m2C/W.

Could this mean that Melka is better? Definitely not. Thermal insulation is only part of the complex of characteristics. Moreover, it is not clear how, with such a shallow depth and average chamber profile of the Evolution, a competitor of the German concern managed to achieve such an impressive figure.

Criterion 2: tightness

In terms of tightness, Rehau products are undoubtedly the leaders. Their unique two-leaf seal made of highly elastic synthetic rubber has a one-piece shape and perfectly insulates the window from moisture penetration. Melke has a co-extruded seal, that is, assembled from parts. Cracks and creases may form at the joints, which will subsequently lead to drafts.

Criterion 3: reinforcement

And here the German concern was one step ahead. Their systems use G-shaped or closed reinforcement, which provides greater strength than Melke's U-shaped reinforcement (only the Art profile has a closed frame). And the innovation from Rehau Geneo, reinforced in bulk, is generally beyond competition. It is incredibly durable and at the same time almost half the weight of similar systems.

Criterion 4: installation depth and glass unit

Rehau offers systems with installation depths of 80 and 85 mm (Intelio, Geneo), into which you can insert double-glazed windows with a thickness of 53 and 54 mm. Melke is inferior to its rival in this regard. Its deepest system is Art (frame 70 mm, sash 85 mm), but it can only be combined with 32 or 40 mm double-glazed windows.

Criterion 5: aesthetics and durability

As for service life, Rehau has a 60-year warranty. And this is easy to believe, because the first window produced by a German concern has been standing in Germany for almost 70 years. In Russia, their windows have been in use for more than two decades, collecting only positive reviews from their owners. Melke does not skimp on promises and says that with proper care, their windows can last up to 200 years, but they provide a guarantee of only 45-50 years. It is impossible to verify these statements, since the company began producing windows only three years ago.

The profile systems of both companies are aesthetically pleasing when produced. Only Rehau's windows remain consistently snow-white or bright throughout their entire service life, while remaining virtually free of contamination. At Melke, they are beautiful and shiny only at the beginning, and after a while, under the influence of ultraviolet radiation and other factors, they can fade or turn yellow (judging by consumer reviews). In addition, they must be washed with household products at least twice a year.

The main “distribution areas” of Gealan products are St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk. This is where the company's Russian factories are located.

St. Petersburg climate has long become a common noun. As for Novosibirsk, when there is a breeze blowing from the Ob River in the May heat of 30 degrees, you feel as if it is not the wind, but a stream of freezing spring water flowing down your back.

So if those windows and such an assembly, which somewhere in Krasnodar or even in Moscow would have successfully served the required 40 years, in 2-3 years will “lead” in Novosibirsk, then there is nothing surprising in this. Russia is great, and conditions for exploitation are not the same everywhere.
