Laminated plastic windows - ideal for a private home

Home » Plastic windows » Laminated plastic windows - ideal for a private home

Recently, in the production of plastic windows, a technology has begun to be actively used, which is based on the process of applying films of different colors to a PVC profile under high pressure and high temperature, called lamination .

There are several types of window lamination. They depend on the preferences of the buyer and the purposes for which he wants to use this or that color.

What is lamination?

Lamination is the rolling of a decorative multi-colored film onto a PVC base under high pressure and at high temperature. After applying the film, the window profile needs to sit for some time to avoid further deformation of the top layer. It is for this reason that laminated windows take longer to produce than regular ones.

Some time after applying the film, specialists carry out quality control of the products. This must be done to avoid loose foam laying on the profile and to avoid swelling in the future. The window is manufactured using high-precision equipment to comply with all product quality standards.

In what cases is it appropriate to install laminated windows?

In fact, laminated windows can significantly change the appearance of the room; in this case, the interior design will represent a single whole, the window frame will harmoniously fit into the overall appearance of the room.

It happens that residents of historical buildings cannot agree with local authorities on the installation of new white plastic windows. The way out of this situation is to simply cover the frame with the desired color.

Ask a Question

Laminated windows are the best solution for a country house

A plastic profile made to look like wood costs an order of magnitude less and is more durable than a wooden one. In this case, you can kill two birds with one stone: purchase a durable window of the desired color.

Methods for laminating PVC profiles

  • Single sided on a white platform. In this case, only one side of the plastic profile is covered with laminated film, the other side remains white. Lamination can be done both from the inside and from the outside. Many people order the interior design of PVC frames so that they fit perfectly into the interior.
  • Double sided on a white platform. In this case, both the internal and external parts of the plastic frame are covered with film. The design can be made the same both outside and inside, or the outside can be made to match the facade of the building, and the inside based on the interior of the room.
  • Lamination of the profile in bulk. A modern type of lamination, which is produced on the brown base of the window structure. The entire structure has a uniform color. Thanks to this, it is obtained without shades of white, which is present with single-sided and double-sided painting of PVC frames.

We have special equipment for professional lamination of European PVC profiles. We will select a special film for any interior from classic to modern.

Types of lamination

Double-sided profile lamination

Lamination is done on both sides of the window. Thanks to the correct color scheme, the appearance of the room will be aesthetic and original. You can choose different shades from the inside and outside.

Example of profile lamination on one side:

Laminated window profiles can be brown on the inside and white on the outside

White profile - standard, intended for outdoor use

Window sills, as a rule, are matched to the tone of the internal profile

Single-sided frame lamination

Single-sided lamination includes:

  • Internal film covering – the plastic covering of the window is covered with colored material on the inside. It is used to complement the interior and integrate windows into the overall style of the room.
  • Applying film coating on the outside of the window. This type of lamination is in demand in country houses to fit into the overall concept of the building, or in apartments where the facades of houses must match the style of the entire building, as a rule, this applies to historical parts of the city.

Bulk lamination system

The technology involves the use of laminated film not only on the outside or inside of the window, but also in the section. It gives the greatest effect, since in this case there is no white plastic in the section, which makes the window presentable.

However, this type is the most expensive among other types of lamination of PVC profiles, since its implementation requires the use of expensive equipment.

Profile painted in mass

Briefly about the main thing

A laminated window with wood imitation will perfectly replace its natural counterpart. In addition to the magnificent appearance, PVC film will add several positive properties. Mainly enhancing the strength of the surface.

If you want to install similar windows, you need to decide in advance which type of lamination to order. Whether you choose a one-sided coating or order a bulk finish depends not only on your desire, but also on your financial capabilities. Because the more processing, the higher the price.

Technical properties of color film

Film for plastic windows consists of several layers, the total thickness of which is 0.2 millimeters . The acrylic base gives the material color and ensures the plastic's resistance to overheating.

The transparent top layer of polymethylacrylate and polyvinylidene fluoride creates a protective function that allows you to avoid the influence of external negative factors, and also adds a glossy shine. During manufacturing, all layers are glued together, and a single whole is obtained in the form of a laminating film.

Film characteristics

For laminating window frames, a special film is used, which has a number of advantages and technical characteristics.

Compound

The thinnest coating (only 0.2 mm) consists of several layers of polyvinyl chloride. The top completely transparent layer consists of synthetic polymers that give the surface a gloss and protect it from atmospheric influences. The bottom layer, also known as the base, is an acrylic pigment that gives the film color.

During the processing process, all layers are combined, forming a thin but very durable coating, under which there is embossing, as well as a layer consisting of two-component polyurethane adhesive and plasticizer. But the quality of the adhesive coating may vary. Modern technologies make it possible to produce coatings without plasticizers, which makes the product safe and environmentally friendly.

Color options

The color palette for laminating window frames is varied: light and dark wood, metal, plain bright and muted shades. Major manufacturers offer more than 100 color variations of adhesive films with glossy, matte and structured surfaces. The most popular, of course, are colors that imitate the structure of wood.

The color palette for laminating window frames is varied

For mass painting, window manufacturers use standard and most popular shades. However, the customer can always look at the samples and choose what suits him, down to the shade of gold or mahogany. This option will cost about a quarter more than conventional frames and will take longer to manufacture.

It is worth considering that even the highest quality pigment fades over time in the sun. Therefore, choose a film 1-2 shades darker than needed in order to get the desired color in a few months.

The main advantages of laminated PVC windows

pros

The film ensures the safety of the PVC coating from mechanical damage: scratches, abrasions

The special properties of the laminated coating protect the window from exposure to ultraviolet rays, moisture and temperature changes

A variety of colors and textures allows any buyer to find a solution, even with the most unusual interior.

Some colors and shades completely imitate natural materials, such as wood. Although this option is much more economical in cost than windows with wooden profiles

The color saturation of the film is not lost over time, the window will not fade or fade, the color will remain bright throughout the entire period of use

Possibility of using different color schemes for both sides of the window, when you need to simultaneously fit it into both the interior of the room and the façade of the building

Easy to maintain laminated windows. The film is not affected by chemicals contained in detergents. The only advice not recommended is the use of hard scourers, abrasives and solvents.

Laminated windows comply with all GOST standards for safety and environmental friendliness

The durability of laminated windows is ensured due to the beneficial properties of the polymer film. Such a window will maintain an excellent appearance in all respects for at least a quarter of a century.

Advantages and disadvantages

There are a number of advantages of laminated structures over white ones:

  • first of all, it is an improvement in the appearance of the structure;
  • high decorative properties, the ability to imitate expensive wood;
  • exclusive design and wide possibilities of use in the interior;
  • rich color range;
  • increased resistance of structures to damage and external factors;
  • ease of care;
  • higher performance indicators: tightness, sound insulation;
  • possibility of restoration of damaged surface.

There are also disadvantages:

  • over time, any colored coating fades in the sun and loses its original color, especially dark and bright shades;
  • structures of dark colors, especially brown and black, become very hot in the sun and are subject to deformation;
  • despite its strength, the film can be scratched;
  • and, finally, the cost - it is significantly higher than traditional white windows.

High decorative properties are one of the advantages

How does the lamination process work?

Lamination of PVC windows is carried out using specialized technological equipment. It can paste the film on one side of the profile, or on both sides.

Machines for double-sided lamination film application are more expensive, so single-sided machines are most often used in production. They consist of a washing, drying and priming compartment, apply glue on one side and have pressure rollers that smooth and press the film coating onto the profile.

Window Lamination Machine

1. Chemical treatment of materials in order to completely clean and remove foreign particles from plastic. When washing, washing solutions based on alkaline substances are used, which are preheated to 30-35 degrees .

2. Drying materials until moisture is completely removed.

3. Priming the coating with a special solution called a primer. It consists of glue and solvent in a ratio of 1:10 . This procedure is carried out so that the film fits better on the profile. After applying the solution, at least a day must pass before the next work.

4. The film is glued to the profile in a special chamber subject to a certain temperature (+130 degrees) and pressure and humidity standards. Glue is applied to the film using a squeegee to ensure its even distribution over the surface of the film.

Sequence of actions on the machine to produce a laminated window:

1. First of all, all excess particles, dust, and dirt are removed from the surface of the plastic. This is done chemically - using alkaline detergents

2. Then the material is thoroughly dried

3. The next step is to apply a layer of primer to the plastic. It is a mixture of glue and solvent and is designed to improve the adhesion of the film to the material

4. In no less than 24 hours, the frame is ready for film application. This happens in a special chamber with precisely controlled temperature (+130°C), air humidity and pressure

5. The squeegee unit evenly distributes the glue over the surface of the film. In this case, the material is heated to a certain temperature (no more than 45°C) in order to improve the application to the plastic and at the same time prevent air bubbles from appearing under the film

6. Simultaneously with the application of glue and heating of materials, special rollers operate in the chamber, pressing the film to the frame and removing air from under it

7. If the edges of the film extend beyond the edges of the frame, the excess parts are cut off with a disk-shaped cutter or a starting knife

8. After applying the film to the window frame, you need to wait at least two weeks until the material shrinks completely. This is necessary so that the window profile does not deteriorate during transportation and installation due to an insufficiently “grabbed” surface

9. Then the product is checked for peeling of the film, presence of defects, etc.

10. When the frame is completely ready, a protective film is glued on top of it to prevent mechanical damage during transportation and installation

11. The finished profile cannot be put into operation immediately. Before welding or cutting the material, you need to wait three days, and before installing arches or otherwise curved frames - 28 days. But the difficulties do not end there - to store such products, it is important to maintain optimal humidity and air temperature. Only after this are laminated window profiles delivered to warehouses and stores, where we see them perfectly covered.

5. Next, the film passes through the drying zone at the required temperature. The temperature of the film itself should not exceed 45 degrees , otherwise air may form under it due to evaporation of the solvent. At the same time, the rollers are turned on, they press the film against the profile and remove excess air between them.

6. Separation of excess material from the profile. If the film dimensions are larger than required, the remaining part is cut off with a wedge-shaped disc cutter. If necessary, starting knives with sliding blades are used to clean or reduce the chamfer radius. Under no circumstances should you sand the laminated surface, as friction heats it up and the film may melt.

7. Holding the new product for complete shrinkage of the film. There must be at least two weeks to prevent deformation of the surface of the glued profile.

8. The last step is to ensure the protection of the new surface of the window frame during its transportation and installation, for which a protective self-adhesive film is glued on top.

Rollers of the machine rolling out colored film along the window profile

The laminated profile must be stored at a temperature not lower than 18 degrees . After the lamination process is completed, after some time the batch is tested for peeling off the film, and a test fillet welding is carried out.

All work on welding and cutting the resulting profile can be carried out no earlier than 72 hours after gluing the film. Making arched structures with profile bending is possible only 28 days after lamination.

Modern window design

Replacing doors and windows help transform the overall appearance of the house beyond recognition, in addition, the choice of color and window material is currently not limited to certain standards. You can imagine arched windows with colored stained glass in black frames - you get a Gothic style. Among the huge number of design solutions that relate to PVC windows, imitation wood or a plain frame is considered more popular, but there are other proposals with “smart” glass that can change the level of transparency.

In the interior, you can rely on the overall texture, for example, on the same shade of oak linoleum, furniture finishing and window profile. Or you can do it a little differently - choose the same color for the overall design in the interior, and all surfaces, which include the color of the window frame, will be duplicated in the remaining design details. Windows can duplicate the texture and color of the surface of the ceiling, floor and walls, as can be seen in the photo of laminated windows in the interior.

The latest technologies make it possible to choose windows with double-sided and single-sided lamination. It turns out that on one side the window can be white, and on the other it can be brown, green and even blue. Everything will directly depend on the design concept, for example, oak lamination can only be done on the street side, but indoors it is better to use the standard white PVC profile color.

In certain cases, it is an important replacement for the overall meaning in architectural terms when changing a wooden frame to plastic windows, so that the appearance of the building facade is not disturbed; laminated plastic windows made to look like wood can easily cope with this task. There are also cases when people who occupied apartments in historical buildings had problems with the administration, because their brand new white windows did not fit into the city’s general architectural ensemble. Plastic windows and videos about them make it possible to have only a general idea about their types.

Recently, a new technology has entered the market, such as co-extrusion, which creates a wood texture on a PVC window profile. In this type of window frame, the color complements the unevenness of the surface. Such coatings are extremely aesthetic and durable, and wear resistance is guaranteed through the use of a special acrylic-based ASA material. Such a surface will not be scratched to a snow-white base, will not fade, the outer layer will not begin to peel off, and will not lose the laminated layer.

Due to the use of this deep embossing technology, a PVC profile with an imitation wood texture is obtained better than others. In the local construction market of laminated and metal-plastic windows, manufacturers such as KRAUSS, WDS, KBE, RENAU and Salamander have proven themselves to be excellent. You can choose any color you like - blue, red, green, beige, gray or brown. Among the wood shades, the most popular are antique white, natural/light oak, mahogany, port and golden stained oak.

The shades of natural oak wood help provide windows of different shades with complete resemblance to the real material, and at the same time retain all the advantages of a plastic structure. In terms of their cost, laminated plastic windows will not be much more expensive than standard white ones, and laminated plastic windows will be only 10% more expensive. When creating lamination on colored plastic, the color turns out saturated, like a reliable coating, since the base is usually a PVC profile in a colored mass, and open windows will not allow anyone to see the whiteness. Such windows can be made to order, and the production time will be a little longer, but the result will be incredible. It is worth taking a closer look at how window lamination is performed and what its advantages are.

How to choose a laminated plastic window

When choosing laminated windows, experts recommend:

  • assess your own financial capabilities and give preference to the most optimal price-quality ratio in a previously determined price category;
  • opt for high-quality film from a well-known brand (preferably Italian or German production);
  • determine the desired shade as accurately as possible, focusing on the interior and exterior of the house (external lamination is best selected to match the color of the roof or base);
  • select the type of lamination (double-sided or single-sided);
  • choose a suitable texture (leather, wood, etc.);
  • pay attention to the color of components, seals and fittings (they should match the color of the window profile).

Large windows with lamination

I would like to pay special attention to the selection of colors:

  • Do not choose flashy bright colors for bedrooms;
  • Yellow windows are good for a child’s bedroom, and dark ones for an adult’s bedroom;
  • large gray windows are ideal for houses decorated in a minimalist style;
  • for small windows it is best to use pastel colors;
  • In addition to brown and white, blue and green are considered universal colors - they can be used in almost any home;
  • It is best to avoid dark colors at the front of the house (the frames will heat up quickly and the house will look gloomy).

However, the customer must like the end result, so when choosing a laminated window, you must first of all take into account your own desires, and then the result will exceed all expectations.

Application technology

To give the profile a color other than white, different technologies are used. Plastic can be pigmented in the mass, coated with a coloring compound or laminated with a special film.

Lamination

The essence of the technology is to paste the profile with acrylic film, and the result is an almost monolithic colored product.

At the first stage, the front surface of a regular white profile is covered with a priming mixture - a primer, which is necessary to ensure strong subsequent adhesion of the plastic to the laminate. Primed parts are heated in special chambers to the required temperature, then removed from the chambers and covered with decorative film. The gluing is carried out in a machine, the rollers of which press the laminating layer to the surface of the heated profile. This approach makes it possible to achieve adhesion of contacting materials at the intermolecular level. This makes the finished product resistant to mechanical damage and durable.

Film coating comes in different colors and shades and can imitate any type of wood, stone or metal. There are high-tech analogues that repeat not only the structure of the wood, but also its relief, which makes it possible to achieve almost complete external resemblance to the original.

The film also has wood embossing

The laminated surface does not fade in the sun, is mechanically strong - it is quite difficult to leave a scratch on it. Double-sided lamination with different materials is possible - only the ends of the profile, hidden from the eyes of others, will remain unprocessed.

Coloring

The plastic is coated with a layer of dye, which is applied either by spraying or extrusion. The technology allows you to get much more color shades than with lamination.

Powder coating is applied to the cleaned profile using airless spraying. The number of layers depends on the color and quality requirements of the painted surface, for example, metallic requires a two-layer treatment.

Benefits of coloring:

  • Rich color variety. All shades of the RAL palette are available, including matte and glossy options.
  • Availability. The dye application process is much faster and simpler than lamination.
  • Maintainability. The window can always be repainted or, if necessary, change the color.

Flaws:

  • Low mechanical strength and resistance to fading compared to film coating;
  • High-quality application of pigment requires a highly qualified painter.
  • You cannot imitate the texture of wood or its relief.

Extrusion painting provides a durable, long-lasting coating that will not wear off during use or fade from sunlight. The essence of the technology is vacuum fusing of colored acrylic polymer onto a plastic surface, resulting in a protective tint layer about 0.5 mm thick.

Bulk coloring

The color of the plastic is close to the color of the film.
The coloring pigment is added to the liquid raw material (polyvinyl chloride) at the stage of profile production. In this way, it is possible to obtain a color that is most resistant to mechanical damage, since the tinting compound is located in the plastic of the profile itself. The influence of ultraviolet radiation largely depends on the quality of the dye, and on cheap products partial fading of the surface is often noticeable. One of the significant drawbacks is the poor color variety - the most common are light brown and dark brown profiles. The main advantage is the relatively low price.

Laminated windows with decorative layout

To make the window look more elegant and complement the interior style, along with profile lamination, the so-called decorative window layout is used. It is an imitation of a window frame.

The layout can be of two types:

  1. Shpros - installed inside a double-glazed window at the window manufacturing stage. Due to the tightness of the air chamber, dust and dirt do not accumulate in it, and there is no interaction with the external environment.
  2. False binding is a plastic lining that is glued to both sides of the window and provides a visual division of the glass unit into several parts. Can be of different shapes depending on the wishes of the buyer. Rectangular layouts are often used, but there are also layouts in the form of triangles, diamonds, arched and radial patterns.

If the interior is made in a certain design style, then it is very convenient to use a combination of laminated windows with a layout. In this case, you can choose the desired window color and a specific layout in exactly the style that will suit the overall design of the room.

Standard false frames and frames are white, but in the case of a laminated window they will also be laminated to match the color of the profile. In this form, the window will look more attractive, emphasize the originality of the interior and give it a unique modern look.

Features of colors

Brown is an uplifting and warm tone that brings a feeling of relaxation and peace to the design. The palette does not distract people's attention, does not hurt the eyes and softly envelops. Natural color is associated with comfort, childhood and creates a feeling of security.

The brown range is combined with all natural shades, but the most harmonious duet is with white. The warmth of wood neutralizes the coldness and minimalism of snow. Dark slopes emphasize the beauty of light windows. The tandem looks discreet and elegant.

The variety of shades of brown will allow you to choose the tone to suit the mood and design of the room. If you need to add austerity to the space, then use chocolate or wenge. Warm ones include cognac and terracotta. Rich coffee and chestnut colors look luxurious. Among the light colors there are:

  • caramel;
  • nut;
  • mocha.

Together with white, brown goes with all styles. The duet will naturally fit into the interior of both classic and modern styles. When combining, it is important to consider compatibility with the design of the entire room.

A too rich brown slope can visually reduce the size of white windows and rooms. A pattern applied to a dark surface will help smooth out the defect. The color of the print follows the shades of the frame or overall interior design.

Making window elements more beautiful

We laminate slopes for windows

Slopes are part of the window opening on top and on the sides of the window. After installing or replacing a window unit, finishing the slopes is a mandatory stage of work, which gives the window a finished and neat appearance. That is why you should choose slopes in accordance with the window itself - from the same material and the same color.

Caring for laminated slopes is no different from caring for a window. At the same time, the cost of laminated elements is slightly higher than the price of regular ones.

Thus, 1 linear meter of a standard white plastic slope 150 millimeters wide costs about 150 rubles, while for a colored slope you will have to pay about 1,200 rubles.

Window with laminated wood-look slopes

We design the cover plate

The flashing (also known as the cover strip) is another additional element that is installed at the installation seam of the window. The use of a flashing allows not only to protect the seam from destruction and give the entire structure an aesthetic appearance, but also to improve the thermal insulation of the window.

Using a laminated strip allows you to make the element almost invisible on a colored window and give it a finished appearance.

The average cost of 1 meter of a regular plastic strip is 30-60 rubles, while prices for laminated strips start at 140 rubles.

Window sill to match the window color

Set the color of the window sill

As a rule, manufacturers of PVC window sills do not offer consumers a wide choice of colors, so if you decide to emphasize the individuality of the room, and also choose a window sill to match the color of your window or wallpaper, then laminated window sills are an excellent solution.

Lamination is carried out with PVC film. The multi-layer structure of the film protects the surface of the window sill from external influences, and a wide selection of decor palettes will give the window sill a noble appearance.

Blitz survey: When choosing a plastic window, what is important to pay attention to?

Don't forget about the low tide

Window sill is an element whose main purpose is to remove moisture from window glass and prevent water from entering the frame and window sill. The use of flashings helps prevent the destruction of both the window structure itself and the building materials used to decorate the house.

As practice shows, prices for laminated ebbs can vary from 180 to 4,000 rubles per piece.

Decorate glass with film

In addition to window lamination, modern technologies make it possible to laminate the glass itself. Such glass will block most of the sun's rays and not allow ultraviolet rays to pass through. If you stick a mirror film, it will hide the room from prying eyes; people on the street will not be able to see what is happening inside the room.

Colored film on windows

If you stick an energy-saving film, it will not give off heat in winter, and in summer it will not let in the sultry heat. Air conditioners that dry the air are very inferior to films here. You can stick an anti-vandal film, it is glued to protect against scoundrels and thieves, and a film with triplex completely protects against a blast wave.

Tips and tricks

If you decide to install laminated frames and you are not afraid of their high cost and the need to wait longer for their production than conventional plastic windows, you need to remember and follow a number of recommendations:

Window fittings are not laminated; they are produced in several shades at once (usually, of course, white). Therefore, you need to be prepared for the fact that it will differ in color from the frames

Before paying for your order, you need to consult whether lamination is possible on the selected profile and what the final color will be. This is especially important if the profile that you plan to cover with film is not white. In a cottage you can install windows of absolutely any color; in an apartment it is better to stick only to internal lamination so as not to disturb the overall appearance of the facade. The film is easily damaged, so handle the laminated frame with care. It is better to immediately purchase a special marker in the same shade to mask such annoying scratches and marks from mechanical damage.

  • The optimal shade for the film is slightly darker than what is required. After a short time (up to six months) after installation, it will fade a little and acquire the desired tone.
  • Since the film is the most vulnerable part of the frame, the impact on it during installation should be minimized. It is better to seal the surface with masking tape.
  • If the laminated frame is covered with protective tape, then it must be removed immediately after all the dirty work is completed. Otherwise, the glue may dry to the film and either leave damage on it or come off along with the film.
  • For wood-look windows you will need the same window sills and other fittings. Ordinary handles and fasteners can look alien and give away the unnaturalness of the material.
  • In order to correctly mount the colored profile and avoid temperature deformations, you need to make the pitch of the anchors more frequent with an interval of 45-50 cm. Then the fastening will be more rigid.
  • Laminated windows are very good to install on loggias, especially large ones. Sub-zero temperatures are not dangerous for film, nor is heat.

Reviews from consumers and those who decided to install such windows are usually positive. Most emphasize that if the lamination process is not disrupted, the film holds tightly and for a long time, no air bubbles arise. The joints are invisible, as they are painted after the installation process is completed.

Some customers note that the same profile color looks different outside and inside the room. If it looks good on the facade, then in the room it may seem too dark. This must be taken into account when choosing a shade.

Almost everyone stops at the low-budget nature of such windows, highlighting, however, the expensive appearance and attractiveness of the design.

Is it possible to make an already installed window colored?

You won’t be able to laminate a window yourself after it’s installed, because it’s impossible to recreate all the conditions for professional window lamination at home.

However, some companies produce a special self-adhesive film designed to change the color of frames.

The procedure in this case is as follows:

  • preliminary surface preparation: clean from dust, dirt and mortar residues;
  • cutting the film along the length and width of each section of the profile with an overlap of 2 centimeters;
  • preparation of the working surface: treat the profile section with a special cleaner for plastic;
  • applying the film: heat the surface and prepared material with a construction hair dryer, simultaneously remove the protective layer and apply the film along the entire length of the profile using a pressure roller;
  • applying the film to the folds: before applying the film to the folds, reheat the film to a temperature of 50-100 degrees, and remove residues and irregularities with a knife.

Installation of plastic window sills

Recommendations on how to properly install a plastic window sill are of interest only to home craftsmen. Every professional is familiar with several techniques that are actively practiced. The work begins with dismantling the old window sill and window, installing a support profile and installing a new window on it. After this, you can begin installing the new window sill. In this case, it is necessary to decide how to attach the panel. There are two main methods: using cement mortar or using polyurethane foam. Fixing a plastic window sill with a solution is quite simple, since fixation occurs at 4-6 points, and not over the entire surface. This simplifies the work and allows you to save on material. You can effectively secure the panel using foam, but you should definitely choose products with good frost resistance.

The structure of the window is not complicated - everything is installed on a support profile, the role of which can be played by a profiled pipe. The window sill is installed on it or in special grooves, after which the leveling begins. To prevent window sill repairs from becoming a frequent occurrence, it is necessary to approach this stage with all responsibility. Bars of different heights are prepared in advance, which will allow the panel to be perfectly aligned along the window. It is necessary to leave a slight slope towards the room to prevent water from accumulating. After this, you can remove the protective film and install the side plugs.

Repair of a plastic window sill is necessary during the restoration process or due to the use of low-quality materials during installation work. It is not difficult to dismantle a plastic window sill; this is done using hand tools. It is much more difficult to decide how to dismantle cement mortar or foam if they interfere with installation. You can repair a window sill without removing it; for example, you can restore a scratched surface using lamination.

Caring for laminated windows

To make window structures last longer, it is recommended to take into account several nuances:

  1. Frames must be handled carefully , as the laminated coating may be damaged. You can disguise scratches and damage using a special marker.
  2. You can wash the frames with any chemical means . The only products you should avoid are products with abrasive particles and hard sponges.
  3. Do not wash heavy stains with solvents and alcohol-containing compounds - they wash off the coating and leave unsightly stains on the surface.

Otherwise, there are no special features in window care. On the contrary, dust is not as visible on dark and colored windows as on white ones.

The lamination film itself has a thickness of 0.2 mm; it tolerates moisture, heat, cold, and dryness absolutely calmly. The film is resistant to ultraviolet radiation, so extreme climatic conditions are not dangerous for such windows.

Manufacturers of windows with laminated profiles

There are many manufacturers of PVC windows. All of them offer lamination services for window profiles in their production facilities. Currently, most often, Russian buyers choose the following brands:

  1. Veka - the company is located in the Moscow region, and also has representative offices in Novosibirsk and Khabarovsk. The parent organization is located in Germany. It has a wide range, profiles differ in the number of chambers and their width. The products have an ISO 9001 quality certificate and the German RAL quality mark. As buyers note in their reviews, the quality of Veka window profiles is excellent, the only thing that scares us is the price: “It’s a good profile, it performed well in winter frosts, but it’s a little expensive, the price is too high because of the brand.”
  2. Rehau - the German representative office of the plant is located in Gzhel. The enterprise is equipped with high-tech equipment. Rehau is a sales leader in Russia, its products are certified and of high quality. Among the shortcomings, buyers also note the cost of the goods: “They weren’t cheap, but it’s worth it, the quality is impressive.”
  3. KBE is a German company; there are several factories in Russia: in Voskresensk near Moscow and in Khabarovsk. Keeps the quality mark on par with Rehau and Veka, but beats them in price. Produces a large selection of PVC profile modifications. He receives the most positive feedback from clients: “We are very pleased with the windows, my husband and I considered many options, and settled on the two most famous: Rehau and KBE. The second option turned out to be the most attractive in terms of the combination of price and quality.”

These three companies are leaders in the Russian PVC window market both in terms of sales ratings and positive customer reviews. However, there are a number of other manufacturers of laminated PVC profiles that are in fairly high demand, such as: Kaleva, Proplex, Salamander .

When choosing a window manufacturer, you should pay attention not only to the popularity of the brand, but also to the optimal price-quality ratio, product characteristics, assortment and the ability to choose the most profitable option in all respects specifically for yourself.

In conclusion, it is worth noting that laminated windows are an excellent solution for many people. They have a lot of advantages and a relatively low price, are easy to care for and durable to use, and a huge range of products will satisfy any customer needs.

Lamination of PVC and aluminum profiles

Lamination of a double-glazed window is a process in which decorative PVC films are applied to the surface of a profile or sheet using special equipment and glue.

Decorative PVC lamination films have been developed for use on laminating machines and are factory tested.

For laminating PVC and aluminum profiles with PVC films, two adhesive systems are usually used, which differ significantly from each other:

A solvent-based polyester adhesive that has been a leader in this technology for over 30 years.

This technology has proven itself well in Siberian conditions and has a number of advantages:

  • there is no need to pump humidity into the workshop to 50-60%, which is very problematic in winter;
  • does not heat up the surface of the profile, which eliminates subsequent deformation of the finished profile;
  • The technology allows you to laminate both small orders at lower speeds and large ones at higher speeds.

And another very important advantage of this technology using liquid adhesives is the best strength characteristics of the adhesive layer: according to an independent examination of the Window Institute in Germany, tests were carried out on a special installation, the strength value of the adhesive joint at control points of 5, 10, 15 minutes was recorded as 1 .8N/mm., 1.3N/mm., 1.6N/mm., and the peel strength value of the film (i.e. the adhesive seam does not deform) was 4 hours

But, unfortunately, this technology has one drawback - it is toxic during the production of lamination. To do this, it is necessary to provide for the removal of solvent vapors from the production room during lamination production. In further use, the laminated profile is absolutely non-toxic.

Solvent-free hot melt adhesive based on polyurethane. Its use in profile lamination began relatively recently. This technology was specially developed and pursued two main goals, which are also an advantage over liquid adhesives:

  • better environmental friendliness, because There is no solvent in the hot melt adhesive;
  • the highest speed lamination characteristics.

This technology has the following disadvantages:

  • It is impossible to completely eliminate the use of a solvent, because it is still present in the primer;
  • high profile feed rates are required (when the speed slows down, there is a possibility of excessive heating of the profile, which leads to high internal stresses and, as a consequence, loss of profile straightness);
  • the technology is not intended for the production of small orders (it is more difficult to set up and launch);
  • An important component for the polymerization of the adhesive component of polyurethane is moisture, which during lamination production should reach 50-60% in the air; ensuring such humidity in the Siberian region is a big problem.

The strength value of the adhesive seam at control points of 5, 10, 15 minutes was recorded as 1.1 N/mm, 1.2 N/mm, 1.4 N/mm, the value of the film peel strength was 24 hours. According to these indicators, hot melt adhesives are significantly inferior to the characteristics of liquid adhesives.

Based on the experience of our company’s employees, also taking into account the specifics of the window market in the Siberian region, the decision to choose lamination technology using liquid adhesives was obvious.

The specificity of orders is that a fairly large volume of film application on profiles occurs with various types of systems, with a large number of settings, and all this, in comparison with the European climate, in difficult climatic conditions.

The laminated profile, thanks to new SST technologies in the production of Renolit PVC film, is able to withstand both the sultry heat in summer and harsh winter, will retain the original appearance of the window and will allow our clients to confidently conquer their markets. We are also confident in the quality of our products and, without stopping there, we strive for improvement.
