4. According to current regulations, each sash of a window unit in apartment buildings must open. Thus, if two vertical imposts are planned in the opening, then the double-leaf structure ceases to satisfy these requirements.

Important. Before ordering and installing windows with two sashes, it is recommended to work out a detailed design with specifications in advance and perform a thermal engineering calculation.

Floor covering

Experts recommend the most common option – linoleum. You will need a little material for 4 squares, so it won’t cost much. In turn, linoleum has proven itself to be a high-quality and practical type of coating.

In addition to linoleum, there are other materials that can also be used when draping the floor on a loggia or balcony. These include carpet, laminate, ceramic tiles.

Blind with vertical or horizontal impost

Standard warm or cold frames made of PVC, wood or aluminum, which are filled with double-glazed windows and pressed with glazing beads. Movable sashes with mechanisms are not provided in these structures.

• low retail cost of the entire structure.

Flaws:

• complexity of maintenance, cleaning and repair;
• inability to provide the required air exchange rate in the room.

With one blind and the second opening

A convenient economy class solution for both apartments and private residential buildings. When installing such shutters, improved insolation of rooms is achieved, at the same time as the possibility of ventilating the room.

Advantages:

• optimal price-functionality ratio;
• The tilt-and-turn sash provides slot ventilation of the room.

Flaws:

• Difficulties may arise when washing a blind sash;
• Using a single moving part too often will cause it to wear out quickly.

With two movable

The most functional option for glazing rooms in apartments, offices or private homes.

Note. Each of the doors can open independently of each other.

Advantages:

• the ability to provide ventilation or completely tear off the translucent block in the summer;
• ease of cleaning and maintenance of the window unit.

Flaws:

• difficulty in adjusting the fittings;
• high cost of products due to the presence of double profiles and two sets of fittings.

An original solution that eliminates the need to install an additional partition in the window opening.

The advantage is that in the open position, the light opening is completely free of any structures, which allows it to be used as an emergency exit.

Flaws:

• sashes can be manufactured and installed only in a dependent version;
• Only one of the movable structures is equipped with a folding mechanism.

Sliding

They are installed as a cold circuit on balconies, loggias or terraces, as well as portal door elements in private houses, when arranging the backyard.

The advantage is that when opening they do not take up free space, which is especially important when used on narrow balconies.

Flaws:

• complexity of installation and adjustment;
• the need for a pier or blind part to fully open the sash;
• high cost of portal doors in a warm version.

Each of the listed types of translucent structures has a different retail price, which requires a detailed estimate before placing an order, which is especially important if it is necessary to glaze a large number of openings in a private house.

The essence of double glazing is that two rows of windows are installed in the window opening. Do not confuse them with ordinary Scandinavian windows, according to the principle of which carpentry windows are constructed from two frames. In this case, plastic windows are combined into one single structure.

Most often, this option is forced to be used for windows facing noisy avenues. This is a last resort solution if installing one window does not provide the necessary sound insulation. If double glazing does not help solve the noise issue, then there are only two options left: change apartment, or get used to the noise. There are no more effective solutions than double glazing.

An important feature of double glazing with plastic windows is a slightly reduced light opening. This only happens when windows of different sizes are installed in one opening. Well, you have to pay for quality. But, fortunately, this is the only drawback; moreover, the light opening is reduced very slightly and there are solutions without reducing the light opening.

Each second window is always an individual solution, so there are no standard installation technologies: sometimes only one window out of two is replaced, sometimes both at once, in some cases the second window is made of special thin frames so that the first window can be opened through it. Drapery of loggia windows

For a balcony or loggia, it is better to order vertical fabric or plastic blinds. Manufacturers offer a variety of options, plain or patterned. Blinds are convenient and practical, they do not allow light to pass through if you need to close the curtains during the day and protect from prying eyes in the evening.

If the owners decide to drape the balcony with standard classic curtains, the cornice should be attached directly to the ceiling.

Dimensions

Most window units intended for installation on civilian sites have the following typical dimensions :

1. The minimum size of a sash is 300 x 300 mm, and a double-hung window is 600 x 300 mm.
2. The maximum permissible width of one leaf is 1200 mm. Windows with 2 identical hinged elements – 2400 mm.
3. The maximum size of a double-hung window cannot exceed 2400 x 2400 mm, provided that each opening sash weighs no more than 70 kg.
4. The typical dimensions of double-leaf windows are from 1500 x 1200 to 2400 x 2400 mm.
5. The dimensions of sliding portal structures with integrated double-glazed windows can reach a width of 1500 mm and a height of 3000 mm.

Panel houses in our country are built in strict accordance with serial documentation and are objects of repeated use. For such buildings, as a rule, there is an individual nomenclature of translucent structures :

Requirements

The following requirements apply to double-leaf windows installed in residential or public buildings :

1. 
   Mechanical strength - profiles, as well as double-glazed windows, must withstand the applied pulsating wind loads without vibration or deformation.

2. The joint between the frame and the end of the opening must have the same thermal characteristics as the translucent structure itself.
3. The heat transfer resistance of the window unit must fully comply with the requirements of the energy passport of the room, as well as the certificate of conformity attached to the window.
4. The window must be in use for at least 15–20 years without the need for repair or replacement.
5. The fittings, depending on the reliability class, must provide from 20 to 60 thousand complete opening and closing cycles.
6. The deviation from the geometric dimensions cannot be more than 0.3 mm per 1 linear meter of the profile.

As a rule, the quality passport indicates technical characteristics that fully satisfy these requirements described in current GOSTs. If the document also contains the number of the official certificate of conformity, this means that the structures have passed all the necessary tests in laboratory conditions.

What you need to get started

Before finishing a loggia measuring 4 square meters, you should approach this process step by step. First you need to plan the design and start clearing the room.

It is important to remove the junk from it, remove the old finish, and prepare the floor. It is advisable to insulate the loggia. You can find out how much it costs to insulate a 4-meter loggia by calculating the amounts that will be required to purchase insulation material and the work of craftsmen.

Installation of window blocks with 2 sashes

When installing double-leaf windows, it is necessary to observe a number of important technological nuances :

1. Before installing the frame, it is necessary to remove all movable sashes from it.
2. Installation should be carried out exclusively in the dew point formation zone, which is determined by thermal engineering calculations.
3. To effectively seal the frame, it is necessary to provide an installation gap around the entire perimeter of the opening.
4. The joint size is at least 15 mm on each side.
5. To avoid the formation of condensation, after installing the polyurethane foam, it is recommended to seal the gap around the perimeter with a vapor-permeable membrane.
6. Immediately after installing all the sashes, it is recommended to check their opening, and then make fine adjustments to the fittings.
7. It is not recommended to carry out installation work at temperatures below +5 °C.

Important. If the technological map is violated, the window will no longer meet the thermal and functional requirements imposed on it.

Windows with two sashes are in very high demand among owners of civil real estate, due to the presence of many advantages :

1. Possibility of a successful combination of fixed and opening sashes on each window.
