In the store you may not find corner connectors for windows that are suitable for a particular case. This is not scary, installation is carried out using a tubular connection of different sizes.
In addition to the corners, you also need to measure the spaces for the windows. The measurement is carried out using a ruler, construction tape or laser meter.
The height, width and depth of the opening are taken into account. Based on the data, you will need to order the required frame size.
Dismantling
If old frames need to be replaced, they must be removed. This must be done carefully, because there is a risk of damaging the opening. Dismantling old windows occurs in several stages.
- Preparing the place, cleaning up unnecessary things. It is necessary to remove the curtains and cornice, if any, move the furniture, and cover the floor with a protective coating.
- Removing the sashes from their hinges. You will need a flat-head screwdriver, a hammer, and pliers. Open the sash and work with the top hinge. Use a screwdriver and hammer to knock the rotary shaft out of the hinge. Pull the sash upward.
- Sawing the frame. After removing the sash with glass, it is necessary to remove the window frame. You will need a construction saw. It is necessary to make 2 cuts in width, 3 cuts in height. They are needed to facilitate the next stage.
- Removing the frame piece by piece using a hammer drill or crowbar. In older houses, you can try doing this by hand. Dismantling must be done gradually and carefully, without touching the opening itself.
- Removing polyurethane foam, low tide. The foam can be removed with a knife, and the ebb can be torn off with your hands.
To remove small debris, it is recommended to use a broom, a fine brush, and then a vacuum cleaner.
Preparing the walls and window sill
After removing the old window, you need to remove all debris and clean the work surface. The slopes need to be plastered, but it is easier to paint them after installing a new frame, otherwise you will have to go over it with a brush again.
The stone window sill must be put in order in the same way as the walls. If a plastic option is planned on site, you need to install a new window sill in advance using polyurethane foam.
The old stone window sill can be removed using a hammer drill. If it was made from other materials, you must use a saw.
Installation
After cleaning and treating the area, you can begin installing the frame for the bay window. The process looks like this.
- Bay windows are installed in openings. Windows can weigh quite a bit for safety reasons. This stage is performed by at least two people.
- The windows are joined together using a bay window tube at a certain angle. Everything is fixed with self-tapping screws.
- Strengthening the structure. All joints are subject to hydro- and thermal insulation using polyurethane foam and insulation.
The installation of windows itself should not take much time and cause difficulties if accurate measurements have been made and the bay window itself has been prepared in advance.
Final works
After installing the windows and hardening the reinforcing agents, you can begin finishing work, namely the slopes. They can be painted the same color as the walls throughout the room.
Experiments are also allowed: the main part of the room is covered with wallpaper, and the bay window area is painted in a suitable color.
The bay window itself can be designed as a place to relax, a dining room, or a bedroom. The bay window is large and wide; it is appropriate to cover the window sill with pillows and a blanket. From such a place you can admire the view. You can place a low sofa nearby.
In order to hang curtains or blinds, you can install several curtain rods parallel to the position of the windows.
