Recommendations for use.

Sealant consumption.

120 grams/linear meter (with a layer thickness of 3mm and a seam width of 20mm)

Preparing the sealant.

STIZ A sealant is completely ready for use. At low temperatures, the viscosity of the sealant increases, so before use we recommend keeping the sealant in a heated room for at least 24 hours. It is IMPOSSIBLE to dilute the sealant with water - this may lead to a change in the properties of the sealant (reduced adhesion, loss of thixotropy, etc.), cracking is possible!

Surface preparation.

Clean the surfaces on which the sealant is applied from dirt, dust, grease, loose particles, cement mortar residues, etc. When working in winter, clean the surface from ice and frost. It is possible to apply the sealant to both dry and wet surfaces. The presence of dripping moisture on the surface is unacceptable. It is IMPOSSIBLE to apply sealant during rain and snow!

Applying sealant.

In order for the edges of the sealant layer to look even, construction tape is first glued to the seam, which determines the width of the future seam, then a layer of sealant is applied, after which the tape should be removed. The sealant is applied to the joint surface of the panels using a brush, syringe or other device. The recommended thickness of the sealant layer should be from 2 to 3.5 mm. The sealant should be applied evenly into the mouths of the joints, without breaks. The width of the sealant contact strip with the surfaces of openings and block boxes must be at least 3 mm, but not more than 6 mm on each side. Package.

Plastic cartouche - 440 gr. (310 ml)

Metallized folic tube - 900 g. (610 ml)

What is Stiz sealant?

The sealant is a white or colored viscous paste-like composition. After application, it polymerizes, as a result of which it becomes durable, but at the same time quite elastic.

From the name it is clear that the material is designed to seal all kinds of cracks. Essentially, it is a modern alternative to putties.

All existing sealants differ in composition and, accordingly, characteristics. Stiz series A is made on the basis of acrylic polymers.

The peculiarity of all acrylic sealants is their high adhesion to plastics. Therefore, they are often used for slopes made of plastic and PVC windows. Steez Series A is no exception.

Steez - a reliable sealant for PVC windows

Basic properties

Like any other building material, Steez sealant has its pros and cons. Therefore, let’s get acquainted with them further.

In addition to good adhesion to plastics, the material has other advantages:

  • Vapor permeability. Due to the fact that the sealant is vapor-permeable, it does not disturb the microclimate in the room;
  • Resistance to low and high temperatures. A wide temperature range allows the composition to be used in regions with any climate;

The sealant can be applied at temperatures not lower than -25 degrees and not higher than +35 degrees.

  • UV and weather resistant. Cracks coated with this composition do not require additional protection from environmental influences. This allows it to be used for outdoor work;

Stiz A series can be used for outdoor use

  • Resistance to mechanical stress . The composition forms a fairly strong and elastic consistency, due to which it ensures reliable sealing of surfaces;
  • Durability. The declared service life of the material is at least 20 years;
  • Contains antibacterial components. Thanks to this, fungus does not form on the surface of the sealant layer;
  • Possibility of painting. After application, the sealed surface can be painted. In addition, several color options are available for sale. To order, you can purchase sealant in any color. True, it will cost slightly more than serial material.

Flaws:

  • Elasticity is not very high. Elasticity is lower than that of silicone analogues, but adhesion is higher, especially to plastic surfaces;
  • Short shelf life. The material is stored in undamaged original packaging for no more than 6-12 months. Therefore, when purchasing, be sure to pay attention to the date of manufacture of the composition.

The composition protects cracks from moisture penetration for at least 20 years

Application area

This sealant is most often used for plastic windows. It is used to seal the junction of window blocks with wall openings. In this case, the permissible deformation of the seam should be no more than 15 percent.

Stiz can be used to seal wooden windows

In addition, the material can be used for the following purposes:

  • For sealing cracks in wooden and plastic window frames;
  • For filling cracks and voids in wooden, concrete or metal structures.

It must be said that Stiz Series A is intended for the outer layer of the assembly seam. For the inner layer it is recommended to use Steez B.

If you need to apply an additional internal layer of sealant, the manufacturer recommends using Stiz D series for this purpose.

For the inner layer, use Stiz B sealant

Instructions for using Stiz-A sealant:

  • Sealant for window slopes Stiz-A is used at the construction stage and during the operation of the structure.
  • Suitable for vertical, horizontal and inclined surfaces, which helps in working with different configurations of window units.
  • Before using putty, the seam must be degreased and excess debris removed from it. The surface of the seam should be dry or slightly moist. You can work with sealant only in dry weather.
  • You cannot use Stiz-A sealant in the presence of dripping moisture or condensation.
  • You can apply sealant to the seam between the window and the slope using a construction gun or spatula.
  • After treatment, the seam must remain dry until a film forms on the surface.

Before applying the window sealant Stiz A, it is necessary to remove excess polyurethane foam, clean the contact area from dust, dirt and make sure that there are no drip leaks on the surface. The sealant can be applied to a slightly damp surface, but sealing window seams with Stiz A during rain is not allowed.

To maintain an aesthetic appearance, the surface on the window and adjacent surfaces must be covered with paper tape.

Window sealant Stiz A is applied with a spatula with little force to seal it in the seam. The drying time of the sealant is approximately 8 hours. After application, immediately remove the paper tape.

Stiz A window sealant will ensure complete sealing of the window seam. At the same time, it has appropriate vapor permeability, which is very important when excess moisture occurs in the seam due to temperature changes.

Application technology

So, we figured out what this sealant is. Now let's look at how to seal a gap with it.

In our case, the sealant will be used as the outer layer of the installation window gap filled with foam. This procedure includes several stages:

Stages of sealing the window installation gap

So, the work is carried out as follows:

IllustrationsDescription of actions

Tools and consumables:
  • Assembly knife;
  • Putty knife;
  • Masking tape.

If the composition is packed in a cartouche, you will also need a special gun.

Surface preparation:
  • First of all, you need to cut off the mounting foam that protrudes beyond the frame with your own hands. The surface of the foam must be smooth, without breaks and pores with a diameter of more than 6 millimeters. If necessary, apply an additional layer of foam and wait until it hardens;
  • The surfaces adjacent to the crack must be thoroughly cleaned of dust. To do this, you need to blow them out and wipe them with a damp cloth;
  • To ensure that the edges of the sealant are smooth and neat, and also to avoid staining adjacent surfaces, apply masking tape to the wall and window frame. Keep in mind that the sealant must cover at least 3 mm of the window frame and wall, i.e. it is applied with a slight overlap.

Application of sealant:
  • Fill the gap with sealant using a putty knife as shown in the photo. The minimum layer thickness should be 3.5 mm, and the maximum - 5.5 mm. To ensure a smooth surface of the outer layer, carefully level the sealant with a spatula.
  • Remove the tape;
  • After the sealant has hardened, it can be painted to match the color of the frames or walls.

The surface on which the sealant is applied must be completely dry. Otherwise, there will be no adhesion between the composition and the surface.

Here, in fact, are the entire instructions. Any other surfaces are sealed in the same way.

Consumption:

The consumption of Stiz-A depends on the thickness of the sealant layer and the width of the seam. The optimal layer thickness is 3.5 mm.

For a seam 2 cm wide and with a layer of 3.5 mm, the consumption of Stiz-A is 105 g/l.m.

*In the Sazilast line of window sealants, there is also a sealant for the internal seam Stiz-V. The integrated use of Stiz-A and Stiz-B materials will ensure reliable sealing of the seam between the window frames.

User reviews

  • Andrey, installer: We have been using Stiz A for exterior finishing for more than 7 years. Easy to apply, it effectively protects your home from moisture and cold.
  • Sergey, owner of the house. In general, impressions of acrylic sealant are positive. It seals assembly seams well, but has a rather unpleasant odor. I wouldn't use it inside.

Almost all sealants can be classified into two groups: for interior and exterior use. For the latter, the optimal choice is acrylic Steez A, since at an affordable price it is well resistant to any weather conditions. Due to the specific odor indoors, it is not recommended to use it.
