Plastic windows made from VEKA PVC profile: differences, prices

VEKA AG is a brand with history. It was registered in 1969 in Germany. For a company that produces PVC products, 50 years is a long time. VEKA plastic windows have been in stable demand throughout the world over the past decades. This confirms the presence of subsidiaries that are open in the USA, Russia, China, France, Spain, Canada, Great Britain, Belgium and Poland. The company's sales offices also operate in India, Singapore and Latin America. In Russia there are currently 3 factories for the production of profiles: in Khabarovsk, Troitsky and Novosibirsk.

VEKA Artline profile

Artline series profiles have 3 contours of elastic seals, which increases the level of tightness of structures made from them. This is facilitated by a high groove in the frame and a well-chosen cross-section of the third sealing contour. The design features of this system impose some restrictions on the manufacture of windows:

  • the system is not suitable for assembling blind modules;
  • T-shaped windows and structures with 2 adjacent active sashes cannot be manufactured.

Artline profiles are only available on the market in white.
Products made from them can be equipped with any standard systems for opening and locking doors, including burglary-resistant fittings. It is possible to produce frame models. Using the Artline system, it is possible to produce products in which, when viewed from the facade, the frame of the active sashes is hidden behind the frame. During installation, it is allowed to cover part of the window with façade insulation. Thus, the concept of “frameless optics” is implemented - with minimal overlap of profiles, the illusion is created that a blind sash is opening at the window.

What are they?

"Veka" plastic windows are translucent structures designed for glazing civil and industrial facilities.
The company produces designs with standard dimensions for glazing apartment buildings, and also carries out individual orders of any complexity

Veka PVC windows are characterized by increased reliability, durability, ease of installation and operation .

The company has its own design department, which annually develops innovative solutions to ensure increased strength, as well as energy efficiency, and implements them into production.

Manufacturer information

(sometimes spelled "Veko" is found) is a joint German-Russian concern with almost 60 years of history . The company began its development with the Vekaplast enterprise, which specialized in the production of plastic products for construction, installation and finishing works.

The head office is headquartered in West Germany. Since 1999, our own production of window structures, adapted to the current SNiP, GOST and other regulatory documents, has been opened in the Moscow region.

The company produces products under the strict control of the parent organization and conducts periodic tests of finished products.

Important. All products have certificates of compliance with technical specifications, environmental and fire requirements.

Profile VEKA Softline 82

Thanks to the special closed cross-section, the profiles of the VEKA Softline 82 series can be used to produce windows that are maximally resistant to loads and, therefore, deformations.
It is possible to equip the window with offset, combined and semi-offset sashes. The system is suitable for the manufacture of not only swing and tilt-and-turn, but also sliding or folding structures. It is equipped with 3 sealing contours and is compatible with all types of fittings. The thickness of the outer walls of the profile is 3 mm, which further increases the rigidity, energy efficiency and noise absorption level of the structures. Thanks to the prudently increased height of the rebate (up to 25 mm), the likelihood of the “edge effect” occurring when condensation forms along the perimeter of the spacer frame of the double-glazed windows is significantly reduced. In addition, the system is suitable for installing double-glazed windows with different widths and dimensions, as well as those decorated with frames. There is a choice of different options for decorating the frame with lamination films.

Classic design and smooth velvet frame surface

To achieve an original tactile and visual effect, the Veka company has developed its own collection of decorative designs for plastic windows and doors - VEKA SPECTRAL - a coating with an ultra-matte surface.

The surface of a standard white window made from the Veka profile is tactilely smooth, but without the velvety effect and ease of sliding when touched, as with VEKA SPECTRAL.

But even in the standard version, the window “plays” with any interior design: high-tech, Provence, modern, country...

VEKA Softline profile

The popular five-chamber system with elegant contours and external wall thickness of 3 mm is suitable for the production of sliding, casement, tilt-and-turn or casement windows.
Installation depth of Softline – 70 mm. This size is enough to raise the heat-saving properties of structures assembled from these profiles to a higher level. Moreover, in the case of such systems, it was possible to improve energy efficiency with the minimum possible increase in the cost of windows. The system can be additionally equipped with decorative profiles that are fixed to the double-glazed windows and divide the light openings into separate zones. The width of these elements is 65, 84 or 118 mm. Two sealing contours are able to maintain elasticity even in severe frost, and the cross-section of the internal chambers allows the use of similar reinforcements in both frames and sashes to increase the rigidity. For the Softline system, auxiliary profiles have been developed and produced: connecting, stand and connecting.

How to measure and calculate?

"Veka" window designs are universal. The technology for calculating profiles, double-glazed windows, as well as the measurement methodology does not go beyond generally accepted international standards. When performing this work, experts recommend taking into account the following nuances :

  1. The opening is measured in length, width and thickness.
  2. When taking measurements, you should record the distances in the corners and between the centers of each side.
  3. When calculating the dimensions of the framing frames, it is recommended to take into account the installation gaps of 15 - 30 mm on each side for the installation of foam and sealing materials.
  4. Static calculations are performed taking into account the pulsation component of the wind if the structure is installed in an apartment building on the upper floors.
  5. When selecting a profile and glass unit based on energy efficiency conditions, you need to take a safety factor of at least 10% - 15%, taking into account the thermal heterogeneity of the product.
  6. When measuring arched windows, it is necessary to take into account the minimum bending radius of the PVC profile of at least 5.5 times the dimensions of its cross-section.

When ordering structures with increased dimensions or arched products, it is recommended to install additional reinforcing half-timbers, which greatly increase the strength and decorative properties.

VEKA Swingline profile

From this series of profiles, swing, tilt-and-turn, hinged and sliding window structures are assembled.
Suitable for single glazed units with a minimum thickness of 6mm. Rounded internal profiles give respectability to products made from them. Like the Softline series products, Swingline systems have 2 sealing circuits and, if necessary, can be equipped with connecting, stand and connecting elements. This system is also supplied with decorative dividing profiles in widths of 118, 100, 85, 75, 64 and 48 mm.

VEKA Proline profile

A system with a rebate seal and a continuous contour sealing the active sashes around the perimeter. It is compatible with anti-theft locking mechanisms and is complemented by decorative elements in widths of 64, 85 and 118 mm. The VEKA Proline profile belongs to class “A”, since the thickness of its outer walls complies with the standard and is 3 mm. The windows look impressive thanks to beveled chamfers on the internal edges. To facilitate the installation and assembly of structures of complex shapes, they are equipped with expanders, as well as stand, docking and connecting profiles.

Fittings for Veka windows

Important to remember:

a window is not only a PVC profile. Functionality depends on fittings and seals.

The window manufacturer has the opportunity to vary and complete the window with fittings of his choice. As a rule, cheaper systems are also equipped with simpler fittings as standard.

An opening sash must have built-in fittings - a set of hinges and locking elements. For optimal comfort, the fittings can be adjusted to a tighter (winter) or, conversely, lighter (summer) pressure.

VEKA Euroline profile

The installation depth of this system is 58 mm, and today it is used to assemble budget models with satisfactory heat and sound insulation characteristics.
VEKA Euroline 58 profiles have 2 sealing contours, which are quite sufficient for high-quality sealing of structures, provided they are reinforced and the fittings work properly. Available seal colors: black, gray or caramel. The reduced depth of the sides (18 mm) for installing double-glazed windows in frames can cause condensation to form around the perimeter of the spacer frames. Water droplets usually form when using budget double glazed windows with low energy efficiency. These profiles are suitable for assembling wall-mounted, sliding, swing and tilt-and-turn structures. The systems are equipped with decorative elements with a width of 25, 42, 62, 76, 82 and 118 mm.

Steel reinforcement around the perimeter

Metal reinforcement in the frame ensures the rigidity of the metal-plastic window. According to standards, galvanized steel reinforcement of a closed section (square) with a thickness of 1.5 mm is installed in the Veka frame profile.

Double-glazed window

Due to the internal metal frame, Veka metal-plastic windows can be installed even in very large openings. Double-glazed windows with sun protection properties are an excellent addition to panoramic glazing.

Due to the variety of shapes and sizes, the finished object will be made in the same style. Both small attic windows and, for example, large windows and doors VEKASLIDE are made from the Veka profile.

VEKA Sunline profile

Such systems are designed for the manufacture of sliding structures, which are mainly used in the process of glazing loggias or balconies.
They cannot be used to produce units with hinged or hinged doors. Provide protection against freezing and drafts thanks to the profile geometry and dense brush seal. Window blocks from Sunline profiles can be assembled for installation in non-linear openings. This can be done with connecting profiles from the Euroline system. Steel reinforcements provide additional rigidity to the structures. These systems allow for single glazing and the use of different types of locking devices.

Richness of colors

When selecting designer windows, the profile can be not only white. This can be by applying paint or a decorative laminating coating to a white base. It is also possible to color the profile in bulk.

VEKA SLIDE profile

These profiles are designed for assembling massive door structures with a lift-and-slide opening system. They are 70 mm wide and the installation depth of the entire system is 170 mm. The thickness of the front walls of the VEKA SLIDE system profiles is 3 mm, but to give sufficient rigidity to the structure they are additionally reinforced with steel liners. Both single panes and double glazed windows up to 42 mm thick can be inserted into active and fixed sashes. For the assembly of complex structures, connectors and expanders are provided, as well as reinforcing PVC jumpers. The scope of application of these systems is glazing of entrance verandas and terraces, as well as wide exits to the balcony. Maximum dimensions of the structure: width 6.5 m x height 2.7 m.

All VEKA profiles have a silky, snow-white surface that does not turn yellow over time. Another distinctive feature of these systems is the closed reinforcement contours, thanks to which the structures better maintain their shape stability.

Margin of safety

VEKA is not only durable, but will also protect property in the event of an attempt to penetrate through windows.
The VEKA window has excellent strength and resistance to loads: it is ten times higher than the GOST strength value.

Don't forget to install: impact-resistant double glazing

High profile strength under loads is one of the main advantages of VEKA windows. But there are others that have significantly increased sales around the world. Advantages of VEKA more details

Comparison table of VEKA profile systems

The rigidity of window and door units, light transmittance, noise absorption level and energy efficiency are achieved through a combination of several parameters, among which one of the most important is the heat transfer resistance coefficient. It is this that demonstrates how “warm” the structures you are purchasing are.

Profile brand and class Number of internal chambers Maximum glass thickness (mm) Heat transfer resistance coefficient provided that steel reinforcement is used (W/m 2 °C)
Artline (A++) 6 60 1,11
Softline 82 (A++) 7 (profile for frames)/6 (profile for sashes) 52 1,06
Softline (A+) 5 42 0,78

Proline (A+) 4 42 0,75
Euroline (A) 3 32 0,64
Sunline (B) 3 200,37
VEKA SLIDE (A+) 7 (profile for frames)/5 (profile for sashes) 42 1,0

When choosing the optimal system, it is recommended to comprehensively study all the data.

Profile brand and class Installation depth (mm) Width of frame-sash profile combination (mm) Rebate height for glass unit integration (mm)

VEKA windows, the price of which depends not only on the type of profile, but also on the type of double-glazed windows with the brand of fittings, may have a heat transfer resistance coefficient that differs from the data in the table. Changes in heat-saving properties directly depend on the configuration. If you use conventional double-glazed windows rather than energy-efficient ones to equip structures made from Softline profiles, the overall coefficient of such windows will be significantly lower. Find out more about energy-saving technologies in a detailed review on OknaTrade.

The heat-saving properties of windows and their level of noise absorption also depend on the quality of installation. Installation of structures must be carried out in compliance with the requirements specified in GOST.

Analogs

There are many manufacturing companies on the Russian market that actively compete with each other in terms of quality and retail cost of products. Consumers prefer the following Veka competitors:

  1. Rehau . A German brand with a 70-year history, whose production facilities have been located in the Moscow region since 2002.
  2. KBE . Also, a company from Germany, with its own factory in our country and dealer points in most regions.
  3. Kaleva . A joint Russian-Finnish brand that supplies the market with window structures made of PVC and natural wood.
  4. Krauss . A German company that has a subsidiary office in our country for more than 11 years. Both standard and exclusive fully equipped window units are offered to consumers.

To select the optimal translucent design, experts recommend drawing up a single technical specification and sending this information to several companies at once for calculation. As a rule, the data obtained helps determine the purchase of the best window.

Additional profile systems

In the UK, two more profile systems were developed under the WHS brand, owned by the VEKA concern. They have similar thermal characteristics and are cheaper than the originals:

  1. VEKA WHS 60
is an analogue of 58 mm systems with a matte white rather than silky surface. These 4-chamber profiles have a heat transfer resistance coefficient of 0.66 W/m²×°C and allow the installation of double-glazed windows with a maximum thickness of 31 mm.
  2. VEKA WHS 72
is a warm 5-chamber profile, which provides the possibility of integrating double-glazed windows with a thickness of 40 mm. The system is used as an analogue of the Swingline, Proline and Softline series. The heat transfer resistance of this profile system is 0.77 W/m²×°C.

Although VEKA created such PVC windows, budget analogues are inferior to the originals. They not only have lower sound and heat insulation, but also less wall thickness. According to this parameter, they belong to class “B”.

Pros and cons of models

The popularity of "Veka" plastic windows is growing every year. Consumers note a number of undoubted advantages of the brand's products :

  1. Availability of a large number of sales points and service centers throughout the country.
