Loggias and balconies most often have a length from 3 to 6 meters, the width is almost always about 90 centimeters. Loggias more than 1 meter wide are rarely found. In many houses there are loggias that go around the corner of the building and have a glazing length of about 12 meters. Almost always, roof installation is required on the top floors, but sometimes roof installation is also necessary on the floors below.
The fencing of balconies and loggias is most often made in the form of a thin concrete slab approximately 50-60 centimeters wide and handrails made of metal structures. With this type of fencing on rounded balconies, the concrete slab is thin, about 4 centimeters. And in order to securely fasten the glazing, reinforcement of the semicircle will be required, and therefore welding work.
In houses with this fencing option, we offer several options for installing glazing:
Install the glazing directly on the railing, and close the gap to the concrete with a metal strip (the most common and budget option)
Cut off the railings, strengthen the concrete slabs and weld them with a metal corner.
The second option is more expensive, but allows you to install higher glazing or leave an imitation of railings, dividing the windows with transoms.

In newer houses of the 137th series, the parapet is made of a thick concrete fence and some balconies are not semicircular, but trapezoidal. On such balconies, reinforcement and welding are not required to install glazing.
The thickness of the fence in such houses is 10-12 centimeters and allows you to easily install almost any glazing option.
This fence does not have metal railings and it is not possible to install high glazing with transoms here.

Glazing and finishing of balconies and loggias in houses of the 137th series
The peculiarity of the houses of the 137th series is that absolutely every apartment here has a balcony or loggia, and some even have two. The width of the loggias is usually no more than 90 cm, although in some cases you can see a width of 1.2 meters. In addition, some apartments have a balcony that wraps around the corner of the building. In this case, the total glazing perimeter is 12 meters. The length of the loggias is different and can be 3, 3.5, 6 meters. The last option combines two rooms in one apartment with separate entrances from each. Which glazing is best for you?
Depending on financial capabilities, configuration and size of the balcony, consumers can choose one of the glazing options offered by window companies:

When choosing the type of glazing and window opening system, you should focus on the following criteria:
- Usable area of the room . If it is 3-4 m², then there is no point in investing in expensive glazing and finishing. Cool aluminum frames are sufficient to protect the interior from wind, dust, precipitation, birds and insects. The balcony can be used for purely economic purposes. For more spacious structures, you can choose a warm profile with sliding doors. It is advisable to equip such premises as functional areas for carrying out any type of life activity.
- Width of the structure. The total length of a balcony and loggia in one apartment can be up to 12 m. Considering the cost of panels and installers’ services, you can save by glazing one structure or half of the longest room. This solution will allow you to allocate part of the balcony for a living area, and use the remaining area as a warehouse and for drying clothes. You can finish the rest of the perimeter later, as money becomes available.

Where to start finishing the balcony
If you decide to fully insulate the suspended structure, then the first step is to install glazing. The “warmest” and optimal in its price category is an option made from a metal-plastic profile. But here we are faced with another remarkable feature of the balconies of this series: the presence of a metal handrail at a height of 300-350 mm. You can cut it down, thereby increasing the glazing area and adding daylight, or “beat” it: install glazed transoms or completely cover this area with dense material.
Another point that makes working with the balconies of series 137 houses a little more difficult is the rounded part of the balcony. In this place it is necessary to install a bay window connection, which slightly increases the cost of the glazing process. Types of finishing
There are various types of interior finishing for the 137 series loggia, used for work in heated and cold rooms. For warm loggias, materials are selected that are used when carrying out renovations in living rooms.
To design structures with cold profiles, materials that are resistant to changes in temperature and humidity are required.
A system for collecting condensate from the sashes should be provided in advance.
The finishing of the 137 series balcony can be done in the following ways:

Methods for installing balcony glazing in series 137
- Installation of glazing on the railing, followed by sewing a metal strip under the railing. This is the most common installation method. The frames are installed on railings spaced 20-25 centimeters from the concrete slab. The space between the railings and the concrete slab is covered from the street with a strip of galvanized steel.
- Installation of glazing on a concrete slab with cutting of railings. This method of installation will make the balcony the brightest. The railings are cut off, thereby increasing the height of the frames. The frames are made from bottom to top as solid panoramic ones, or with small transoms at the bottom.
- Installation of glazing with removal. Removal in series 137 is carried out along the window sill (along the railing). To do this, triangular consoles are welded to the handrail, which are then covered with a metal sheet from the street. The glazing is extended towards the street by 25-35 centimeters, making it possible to install a wide window sill without losing the internal space.
