Anti-pollen mosquito net - features of operation and care of mosquitoes for allergy sufferers

Having installed plastic windows in an apartment or country house, we often think about which mosquito nets are best to install. Some window manufacturing companies immediately offer to install conventional frame structures that will protect against the entry of unpleasant insects into the house.

Indeed, these nets can easily protect against flies and mosquitoes, but pollen and dust will still penetrate through the mesh cells. These problems can be solved by installing not ordinary mosquito nets, but anti-dust ones.

Features of anti-dust nets

It is important that the anti-dust mesh provides good protection not only from dust and unpleasant insects, but also from plant pollen. After all, it’s no secret that many people suffer from allergies associated with the seasonal flowering of certain trees, herbs and flowers. Thus, a strong allergic reaction can be caused by alder and birch pollen, flowering field grasses, and poplar pollen.

The Antipollen mesh is produced by various companies, but the manufacturing technology is similar everywhere: the material for the mesh is a dense fabric made of thin polyester threads with very small cells - only 0.25x1 mm (the cells of a regular mesh, as a rule, have a standard size of 1x1 mm). Neither dust nor pollen, not to mention annoying insects, will be able to penetrate through such small cells.

Anti-dust structures are recommended for installation in homes where there are small children and people with allergies. They are perfect for those owners who are not bothered by allergies, but who care about the comfort and hygiene of their home. “Antipollen” will perfectly hold back any dirt trying to enter the house from the street, and if your house is located on a busy street where cars are constantly driving, this product is the best choice.

She will not allow poplar fluff into the house, which appears in abundance on city streets on summer days, when you really want to open the windows wider.

Advantages and disadvantages

Antipollen nets have undoubted advantages.

  • The mesh is made of polyester. This is a material that is safe for human health and has passed various tests not only in our country, but also abroad.
  • Polyester fabric has electrostatic properties , which allows you to create a reliable barrier for the penetration of plant pollen into the room. This is due to the fact that nylon synthetic fabric carries a partial positive charge, while organic dust particles and pollen carry a partially negative charge. So, thanks to electrostatics, all the dust and pollen that tries to penetrate into the room from the street settles on the mesh.
  • Small cell size. Thanks to microscopic cells, the material copes with its duties perfectly, preventing even the smallest particles of pollen of various types from entering the room.

  • Long service life. If you use the product carefully, avoiding contact of the mesh with sharp objects, it will serve you for at least five years.
  • On a hot summer day, “Antipollen” will save you from the scorching sun , as it slightly darkens the room.
  • Possibility of ventilation , even if there are allergy sufferers in the house. Ventilating the room is very important, since a person inhales oxygen and exhales carbon dioxide. In about 12 hours, the lungs of an adult will pass through about 70 thousand liters of air (this is how much air a room of 25-30 sq. m can hold). Only ventilation will reduce the concentration of carbon dioxide and replenish the amount of oxygen a person needs. You can work well and sleep better in a ventilated room.

  • Pollen netting is an excellent alternative to chemical mosquito repellent aerosols and fumigators. Do not forget that the toxic vapors and gases contained in various insect repellents do not allow their constant use; this can be harmful to health. In addition, an aerosol or cream will most often repel blood suckers directly from areas of the body treated with the product, but mosquitoes will still hover around you, making annoying sounds.
  • An undoubted advantage is the ability to use the anti-dust design not only on windows . It can be installed in doorways, on balconies, terraces and even used to protect baby strollers.
  • Easy to use. “Anti-dust” is easy to clean with water and laundry soap. After washing, the material retains all its unique properties.

Questions and answers

Let's look at the most common questions that untrained users have when choosing a grid.

Does it make sense to order several different nets for all occasions?

This decision is determined by the characteristics of the region and the needs of the user. As a rule, all problems can be solved quite easily using one mesh. However, there are no contraindications to the use of different types of protection. You just need to decide in advance where the backup canvases will be stored.

What type of fastening is most reliable and durable?

All existing options have their pros and cons. The plunger fasteners are strong, but often become clogged with dust and begin to jam when the mesh is dismantled. Frameless fastenings are weak, the canvas can be torn off by a gust of wind. Therefore, it is best to use the most popular Z-shaped mounts.

How effective is the Anti-Cat mesh in practice?

This depends on the activity and physical condition of the pet. Of course, Anti-Cat is stronger than standard canvas, but you shouldn’t underestimate the abilities of large and strong cats either. In any case, enhanced protection is better than a mesh, which is obviously unreliable and unstable to mechanical stress.

What if there are visible gaps around the perimeter of the mesh?

The easiest way is to order a new frame. However, often the problem is a worn seal. In addition, you can approach the problem more radically - seal the gap around the entire perimeter with narrow masking tape. This will give the desired effect, but after each wash of the mesh you will have to seal its perimeter again.

How airtight are roll mesh?

If the installation is done correctly, the tightness of the rolled mesh will be quite satisfactory. Their edges move along guide profiles that cover the transition area between the frame and the mesh. However, if the installation is carried out incorrectly and the guides are not installed tightly, dust or small insects may enter.

Scope of application and installation features

Depending on where the structure will be installed, the specifics of its installation will also depend. As already mentioned, most often the structure is installed on plastic windows and is a separate lightweight frame that is securely fastened and easily removed from the main frame.

If necessary, the mesh can be fixed in a separate profile - more massive and heavier. This option is perfect for installation in a country house. On terraces and verandas, roller (sliding) structures are often used, they are convenient and durable. If necessary, for example, on a warm sunny day, they can be moved, and in the evening, when annoying insects appear, they can be moved apart.

If the frames in your house are made of wood and do not require the installation of a mosquito net, then you can take advantage of a new offer from some companies that install mosquito nets - installing the net using the “blinds” method. The Anti-Dust mesh can be installed in balconies and loggias ; it can protect door openings from pollen and dust. For the doors, a special frame is made on hinges, in which the mesh is fixed.

Most companies involved in the installation of plastic windows offer their clients to immediately purchase and install the “Antipollen” design. This option will allow you to save significantly compared to installing the mesh over time.

If you still had to order a mosquito net separately from the windows, we recommend that you contact specialized companies that offer a mandatory free measurement visit. This will eliminate errors during independent measurements and will give you the opportunity to contact the company for warranty service if something does not suit you.

Caring for the mesh is not difficult, but due to its ability to attract dust particles and pollen, it must be washed periodically. How often you have to do this depends on many factors. Thus, structures installed in houses located close to busy highways or highways have to be washed approximately once a week. This is done using a soap solution (laundry soap is perfect). In environmentally friendly areas, the mesh is washed no more than once a month.

Famous manufacturers

Anti-dust nets are produced by many companies.

  • One of the most famous is the Canadian company Saint Gobain . The company produces Micro-Mesh nylon mesh of the highest quality. It is distinguished by especially small cells that do not allow pollen or dust to pass through, while it looks like an ordinary mesh that allows light and fresh air to pass through well.
  • Poll-tex products originate from Holland. mesh, Van Heek Textiles - has repeatedly tested products in medical clinics in Holland and Germany. Today, however, these technologies are used to produce meshes all over the world. Poll-tex has earned numerous positive reviews from customers, including people suffering from allergies. These are high-quality products that do not disturb the air exchange in the room and effectively protect the house not only from pollen, but also from the aggressive urban environment - dust and exhaust gases. Since many companies are already working with the technologies of the Dutch company, we recommend that when purchasing products, pay attention to the presence of product quality certificates.

  • She has established her own production of mesh of excellent quality. This is one of the largest manufacturers of various protective mesh structures for windows and doors in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region. The company offers a wide range of products and various options for attaching the structure to the window.
  • Anti Dust products from (Russian Federation) are inexpensive and have good performance characteristics. The company provides a guarantee for the nets for up to 15 years. It has proven itself well in the filter materials market and produces not only meshes, but also filter components for air conditioners, electrical equipment, and swimming pools.

Reviews

The net with anti-pollen effect has mostly positive reviews. They note that the main advantage of the mesh is the effective retention of birch pollen, due to allergies to which many suffer. Thanks to the mesh, you can ventilate the apartment even at the peak of flowering. Of course, the design also does not allow any mosquitoes or even the smallest midges to pass through.

If the house is located near a busy highway, from where dust and other harmful substances fly, even a healthy person should not breathe polluted air.

Buyers of the Poll-tex mesh say that they purchased it instead of a regular mosquito net and felt the difference.

However, some users noticed that after installing the grid, there was a little less light in the room. But compared to the allergy problem solved, this small drawback is completely insignificant.

In the next video you will see a demonstration of the Anti-Dust-Anti-Pollen mosquito net.

If you are tired of constantly wiping the window sills and mopping the floors every day because of the dust that enters your home every summer,... Here you will find the solution to your problem. An anti-dust mesh has been developed especially for you, which can make your life better and more comfortable.

The mesh size is only 0.8mm x 0.8mm. The anti-dust mesh cells have a square shape. It is made of nylon, which has electrostatic properties. Dust has a negative charge due to its organic origin. Nylon carries a positive charge. Thus, easily attracting dust particles, which subsequently settle on the mesh.

Varieties

There are several types of mosquito nets. They have different functionality and, in addition to the main task, are able to solve additional issues. All varieties have certain parameters and have their own names. Let's look at them separately.

There are different types of mosquito nets

Anti-mosquito net

This is the basic, standard mesh model. Made from reinforced fiberglass (fiberglass). The shape of the cells is square, with a side of 1.2 mm. It is effective only for protection against flies and mosquitoes; it will not stop dust and midges. Also, ordinary mesh is not able to withstand the action of bird or cat claws. At the same time, the price of such fabric is the lowest, which is why windows are equipped with regular mesh in factories.

Anti-cat

This is a mesh with reinforced thread, developed in the USA (Pet-Screen). Today it is manufactured under license in Europe and Asia. The material for the mesh is aluminum or polyester thread of high strength, and the weaving is soldered and cannot be moved either in the transverse or longitudinal direction. Cell size - 1.1 × 1.5 mm.

The canvas successfully withstands cat or bird claws, and also stops poplar fluff, insects, and small debris.

Antimoshka

In Europe this mesh is known as MicroMash. It was developed not so long ago, but has already proven itself as a practical and convenient protection against small flying insects. A special feature of this mesh is the small size of the cells - a square with a side of 0.5 mm (with a thread thickness of 0.28 mm). For regions where midges are a seasonal problem, such protection is one of the most popular options.

Differences between a regular mesh and an anti-midge and anti-cat mesh

Anti-dust

Another name for this mesh is “Antipollen” (Poll-Tex). It is designed to cut off fine particles and pollen of flowering plants. The mesh size of this mesh is 0.2 × 1 mm, which causes a lot of controversy and doubt - the size of small particles and pollen is much smaller, and they must pass freely through the mesh. Manufacturers explain that the mesh stops foreign particles without screening them out with cells, but with the help of static electricity - the polymer thread is electrified and simply attracts pollen, stopping it as it passes through the mesh. However, such explanations do not suit all users. The material is expensive, you can’t buy it in every store, which further limits demand.

Ultra View (or Maxi Vision)

This grid is designed to improve indoor lighting. Usually the color of the canvas is dark gray, and in rooms facing north it becomes too dark. In addition, the view deteriorates, making it difficult to observe the events taking place outside the window. Ultra View mesh is not so noticeable on the window due to the small thickness of the thread (while maintaining tensile strength). This reduces shadowing and improves visibility while increasing the stopping power of the reticle.

Ultra View MaxiVision

Note ! This is achieved due to the small size of the cells - they are square with a side of 0.8 mm. Made from fiberglass.

Advantages of anti-dust mesh

  • One of the salvations for allergy sufferers. Poplar fluff will no longer find its way into your apartment.
  • If the windows face a busy road, then city dust raised by wheels will no longer accumulate in tons in your home, penetrating onto the windowsill, closet or floor through open windows. It is possible that the accumulation of dust causes some diseases. Let the Anti-Dust mosquito net take care of your health. Cleanliness and a pleasant environment in the house is the key to a great mood.
  • Reliably protects your home not only from dust, but also from midges. Mosquitoes are not able to get through an ordinary mosquito net, but midges are right there. But there is a solution here too, because the anti-dust mesh will not allow a single midge to visit you.
  • Absolutely safe. Does not support combustion. By chance, a fallen burning cigarette butt will not pose any threat to the grid.
  • Lets in a small amount of sunlight. Just what you need in hot weather.

Types of canvas

Standard (Fiberglass)

Optimal ratio of quality and price. Has high strength characteristics.

Anti-cat (PetScreen)

This mesh uses thicker threads and cannot be torn by animal claws.

Anti-dust (MicroMesh)

The cell size is only 0.8 mm x 0.8 mm. Reliably protects your home not only from dust and midges.

Ultraview (Phifer)

This mesh uses a thinner thread, thanks to which the mesh allows 25% more light and air to pass through.

Aluminum mesh

The mesh is made of aluminum threads, does not corrode, is resistant to thermal influences and is almost invisible.

Anti-dust mosquito net: what is it?

The Anti-Dust mosquito net is an innovative development for protection against allergens and insects. It is a protective structure made of aluminum profile. The product has the shape of a canvas with cells located along it. The cross section of one cell of the Anti-Dust mesh is 1x0.25 millimeters, which allows you to retain dust and pollen particles. To make the fabric, a dark gray nylon thread is used, which has static properties. For convenience, there are plastic handles on the mesh. The structure is held in the opening by a bracket with internal or external fastening.

How does Antipollen differ from ordinary mosquitoes?

Even children know about the benefits and principle of operation of an ordinary mosquito net on windows. What is the fundamental difference between the Antipollen version?

Features of cells in the canvas

A typical sheet consists of many square-shaped cells with a side of only 1 mm. However, this is enough for the smallest insects, invisible dust particles, to fly into the room.

The cells of the Antipollen mosquito differ in shape and size. These are rectangles with sides of 0.25 and 1 mm. They are 4 times smaller than standard analogues. This allows the mosquito to trap not only insects, but also dust.

As for pollen, the particles of which are many times smaller than the cells, the effect promised by the manufacturer is achieved due to the quality of the material.

Frame version of the grid with square cells

What is window mesh made of for allergy sufferers?

A mosquito with rectangular cells is made from Poll-tex fabric. It is produced by weaving 0.2 mm thick nylon threads.

Rectangular cells of mosquito net Antipollen

Nylon has a static charge, so it attracts pollen and dust. They do not penetrate the cells of the fabric, even despite their small size. They remain on it outside.

Nylon has good strength. However, strong temperature changes can worsen its performance. Therefore, from late autumn to spring, the mosquito is usually removed from the window.

The cellular fabric has passed all the necessary tests for allergenicity. It is safe and certified.

The effectiveness of anti-allergenic window mesh

The Anti-Pollen Mosquito Net has also undergone a series of tests to determine its effectiveness. All studies were conducted in Germany. We used: an ordinary window, Antipollen cellular fabric, pollen of the most allergenic plants - ragweed, nettle, birch, meadow and weed grasses.

Pollen was supplied to a window installed between two previously cleaned rooms. Then the concentration of allergens in the room was measured. The results showed that rectangular cells retain large grass pollen by 100%, but the smallest ones (nettle and ragweed) - by 90.9-93.1%. Birch pollen also remains 99.7% outside the room.

Distribution of birch pollen during flowering

Antipollen reliably protects your home from the most severe allergens from March to October. This is the main period of pollen distribution.

How to install an Anti-Dust mosquito net

The design of the Antipollen mesh consists of the following elements:

  • profile frame;
  • corner profile;
  • cellular fabric;
  • connecting corners;
  • fastening cord;
  • fastenings

To install it, prepare the following tools: drill (screwdriver), self-tapping screws, mounting bracket, pencil. Installation can be performed using external and internal fasteners. Manufacturers recommend installing the Anti-Dust mosquito net using internal fasteners, since they provide a tighter fit to the structure and window profile. To do this, you will need metal z-shaped fasteners (hooks) and self-tapping screws with a drill.

Next we proceed in the following order:

  1. Prepare a work surface for the mosquito net.
  2. On each side of the structure, at an equal distance from the edge of the frame, marks for drilling are made with a pencil. For reliable installation, it is recommended to install fasteners in 6 places: two fasteners along the width of the structure, one fastener along the length.
  3. Drill holes in the mosquito net frame.
  4. We attach fastenings to the structure. Using a screwdriver or screwdriver, screw the self-tapping screws into the frame, the size of which should not exceed 3.9 x 19 mm. Securely fix the fastenings on the frame of the mosquito net
  5. We insert the mesh into the window frame.

Advantages and disadvantages of this type of installation:

  • There is no need to drill the window frame;
  • The fastening ensures reliable fixation of the structure;
  • The sealing contour wears out quickly, which can tear or wear out in the places where the fasteners are installed.

There is another way to install a mosquito net - on the outside of the window. You can read more about this type of structure installation in our article on OknaTrade.

What types of meshes can be ordered?

The Antipollen canvas is just a mesh that, without a frame, will not be able to perform its functions. Each of the available types of designs has its own characteristics and is suitable for specific cases.

We offer a choice of two types of Anti-Pollen mesh: frame and plunger-based.

  • from 1200 rub/m2

    Frame mosquito nets

    This is the most common type of mosquito nets; they consist of a frame, a special profile and the canvas itself.

  • from 1500 rub/m2

    Frame mesh on plungers

    They are easy to use, like frame nets, but are more reliable and can be installed on windows with bars.

How to care for the Anti-Dust mesh

Caring for the Anti-Dust mesh is simple. Small cells quickly and tightly become clogged with dust, so you should wash it at least once a month. This should be done using a soft cloth or sponge soaked in soapy water. To make a soap solution, laundry soap or washing powder is suitable. It is prohibited to use abrasive detergents - their solid particles can get stuck between the cells or scratch them.

After removing dirt, rinse the fabric under running water (not hot) and let it dry. If possible, blow out the cracks with compressed air.
