Adjustment of aluminum doors may be necessary not only during installation, but also after a certain period of operation. Step-by-step instructions for performing repair work will help you cope with this task yourself. Doors may sag over time and suffer mechanical damage. Regardless of the quality of the hardware elements installed on the door block, it may be necessary to adjust the horizontal position of the leaf, adjust and lubricate the mechanisms.
Installation and methods of fastening hinges for aluminum doors
Aluminum doors are often installed in residential buildings. Considering the characteristics of the metal used in their manufacture, you should pay attention to the choice of hinges: they must withstand heavy loads, have reliable fastening and, in the case of an external door, be protected from burglary.
As a rule, loops consist of two elements:
- One is attached to the box.
- The second one is attached to the door leaf.
The two elements are fastened together so that they can change their position relative to each other. Hinges can look different and even perform different functions.
At first glance, the fittings in question in the classic version have a rather simple design: one part has a cylindrical protrusion, the second a special socket for it.
The standard features of this headset include the following:
- With its help, the mobility of the door is ensured.
- Considering that the door leaf is periodically in motion, the curtains also act as a fastening element.
When the door is in the closed position, some of the load can be redirected to the bottom of the door frame. However, in most cases, it is the curtains that hold the door leaf, and therefore a large number of requirements are placed on the fittings in question.
Fitting options
You can adjust the hinges of aluminum door blocks yourself, but to do this you need to know what fittings are installed on the doors. This will allow you not to disrupt the system during the setup process.
The most commonly used fittings are:
- Hinges for internal door structures. The parts have an attractive appearance, but are capricious in terms of operating conditions. The door leaf can be removed in any position;
- Hinges for external doors. Such elements are less attractive, but more reliable, easy to use, and do not require frequent maintenance. The doors are removed only after dismantling the hinges;
- Universal loops. The canvas can be removed only after dismantling the hinges. This is inconvenient for internal door blocks, but for external structures it is a prerequisite for preventing thieves from entering the house;
- Mortise products. Grooves for installing hinges are made in the frame or directly in the door leaf;
- Overhead loops. Such products are simply screwed onto the surface of the doors without removing material.
The adjustment for aluminum entrance doors depends on the type of hinges. For example, overhead type hinges are located in a visible place. They are fixed with screws directly on the surface of the canvas and the box, i.e. they are freely available. Hidden-type products are more difficult to maintain, since they are embedded into the door structure. Some models cannot be adjusted at all; they can only be replaced with new ones. Therefore, such hinges require correct installation the first time.
The corner hinges can be adjusted if necessary after installation. At the same time, such products provide the opportunity to open swing door panels in two directions.
Requirements
The following requirements apply to all door hinges, regardless of their type:
- Reliability. Considering that the entrance door leaf protects property, the fittings in question must be reliable. At the same time, we note that many manufacturers produce special versions that have an increased protection against hacking. In this case, not only the operating principle of the system and the type of material used in manufacturing are important, but also the fastening method.
- Durability. Doors open and close in pairs several dozen times a day. Under such conditions, the fittings in question should last for many years.
- Interchangeability. In some cases, it is necessary to replace one part of the structure due to wear.
- High quality. The problem with the old fittings was that over time they began to creak or the door leaf sank a little, which made it difficult to close. Only with high precision during fitting of structural elements can such phenomena be avoided.
Variety of options and selection criteria
When choosing hinges for aluminum doors, you can pay attention to Wala products. This is not the cheapest option, since the cost of products starts from 11 euros, and the average price is 18-40 euros per set, but this is a manufacturer well known for its quality.
The company was founded and located in Germany; advanced equipment and modern technologies are used to create products. The company has existed since 1980, producing a full range of fittings not only for aluminum, but also for all other types of doors and windows. All products are certified and meet European quality standards. In addition, the hinges are accompanied by a document indicating that they have passed the tests of Rosenheim (Germany).
New hinges from Wala
Most modern high-quality profile systems are equipped with WALA hinges. You can meet them in systems such as AGS, Aluprof / Metallplast, ALUTECH, Inicial, New Tec, Realit, Reynaers, SCHUECO, Alumax / Vidnal-progress / Mosmek, VSMPO, Petralum, Sial / Krams, Sibprofil, Tatprof. The hinges have a 3-way smooth adjustment: clamping 1.8mm, horizontal 6.2mm, vertical 4mm. Hinges are supplied in standard colors, as well as uncoated with the option of painting them.
The products have different designs, differ in size, system, high strength, and smooth operation. Most models can withstand loads exceeding 200 kg and can be used in fireproof structures.
If you want to save money, you can purchase Russian-made hinges, the cost of which will start from 600 rubles. For this money you can buy a regular hinge with a bearing; many manufacturers produce them, but you should not expect high quality from such products.
A DOMINA hinge can be considered average in price and quite good in quality: the cost of such a product is on average 1,300 rubles.
Hinge Domina Classic 3-section
It is distinguished by the following qualities:
- High strength: hinges are designed for at least 200 thousand openings.
- Load capacity up to 160 kg if the loop consists of two sections.
- The material is resistant to corrosion. When tested, the hinges showed that they could withstand more than 240 in salt fog.
The company's products come in two types - in the form of wedge anchors or embedded plates. The hinges can be adjusted in all directions, see the video for details.

Types and characteristics
The modern approach in the door production industry has led to the fact that a large number of plastic and aluminum doors can be found on the market. As a rule, the aluminum version is installed in shops or other public institutions.
Depending on the type of door leaf profile, the following types of hardware in question can be distinguished:
- Hidden - fastened so that they can only be seen in the open position.
- Overlays are rarely used when installing entrance doors of residential buildings, as they are pinned to the top of the frame and door leaf.
- Universal - appeared many years ago. They differ in that they are suitable for most types of profile.
- Single-sided - a practical and very popular option.
All of them can be attached in different ways and made from different metal alloys.
Each type of door hinge can be characterized:
- Universal ones have been used for many years. Their distinctive feature is that this version will last for many years. However, we note the method of fastening: using screws. This feature means that if necessary, they will be quite difficult to remove.
- Removable – used extremely rarely when attaching entrance doors. Their peculiarity is that, if desired, you can remove or secure the door leaf in the open state without unscrewing the fittings.
- Screw-in or single-sided and bar. The first type allows you to open doors only in one direction, the second in both directions. Screw-in ones are attached on one side to the canvas, on the other along the end of the profile.
- Hidden - when the canvas is closed, they are invisible. Given the specifics of the work, many versions can be adjusted along three axes. Often, in this design, the fittings can open 180 degrees.
In addition, the characteristics are influenced by the type of material used in the manufacture of the product in question:
- Steel – resistant to corrosion and have a high strength index.
- Brass - have the lowest threshold for surface abrasion, but after some time the material in question may turn black.
- Brass-zinc – have high strength and corrosion resistance.
In addition to the above options, you can find others.
Replacing the lock
There are several types of locks for aluminum doors.
Kinds:
- with one closing point with a halyard latch;
- with one closing point with roller latch;
- with several crossbars.
The roller latch allows you to fix the closed door when the lock is unlocked.
If the lock mechanism begins to jam, it may need to be lubricated. In a lock with a cylinder mechanism, we replace the cylinder, leaving the old body. When purchasing a cylinder, we pay attention to the coincidence of all parameters with the proven mechanism.
When purchasing, it is important to ensure that the distances match:
- from the strike plate to the middle of the key hole;
- offset from the cylinder collar;
- from the middle of the key hole to the middle of the pin for the push set.
We make the replacement ourselves:
- We unscrew the screw holding the cylinder, turn the key and remove it from the keyhole.
- We unscrew the two screws from the profile holding the lock and remove it.
- We install a new mechanism. For more information on installing locks, watch this video:
If a halyard latch was previously installed, then it is necessary to replace the entire mechanism.
Fastening methods
The fastening method usually depends on the type of profile used.
At the same time, we note the following goals that can be achieved when choosing a specific fastening method:
- Quick installation and dismantling.
- Possibility of repeated assembly and disassembly.
- Achieving a certain reliability indicator.
Screwing anchors with self-tapping screws is another method of fastening. In this case, the speed of work is maximum, but there is no possibility of dismantling and subsequent installation.
Price
The cost may depend on the following indicators:
- From the popularity of the manufacturer.
- From the type of alloy that was used in manufacturing.
- Depending on the type of construction.
- On the degree of protection against tampering (does not apply to the hidden version).
Prices for such accessories range from 100 rubles to several thousand. The OPTIMA system comes with a hinge that costs 1,870 rubles. You can purchase hinges for the DOKSAL system, the cost of which is no more than 400 rubles. The choice in this area is very large.
DIY installation
When installing aluminum doors, you should remember that special systems are designed for them, the task of which is to provide control for non-standard shaped doors.
To complete the work you will need the following tools:
- Ruler and pencil for marking.
- Screwdrivers or hexagons to disassemble the door leaf.
- Screwdriver and drill.
- Other tools depending on the case.
All work can be divided into the following stages:
- We carry out markings. To ensure reliable operation of the door, more than two hinges should be installed. They should not be installed too close or too far away. It is recommended to place the outer pair at a distance of about 20 centimeters from the edge of the door.
- After the installation location has been marked , we disassemble the door leaf in order to lay down the material into which the anchors will cut. It is worth noting that the case under consideration concerns a hollow sheet.
- If the manufacturer has not made holes for attaching the hinges , we make them ourselves (if the profile thickness is very large).
- We fix the curtains on the box.
- If the design allows , we fasten the door in disassembled form, which will allow us to check the entry of the anchor into the material being adjusted. If you need to install a folded structure, we secure the material to be adjusted.
The work is rarely difficult. However, it is worth noting that it cannot be done alone, since you will have to support the door leaf while attaching it (in the case of a detachable version of the hinges, you can do it alone).
How should hinges be installed?
Installation may be required in two cases: when installing doors and when replacing hinges with new ones. It is important to comply with certain requirements so that problems do not arise in the future. Most often, hidden hinges are purchased for indoor use. In order to install them, you will need to have a template; many well-known manufacturers include it in the packaging. After this, you will need to make a recess in the canvas into which the loop will be inserted. It can be screwed on.
If the loop is overhead, such actions are not required. You will only need to mark the canvas, drill holes for fastenings in the right places, and screw the hinges. In many ways this installation is simpler. In both cases, it is necessary to clearly align the location so that after installation the door leaf is not tilted. Overhead structures are not always attached directly to screws; sometimes additional fasteners can be used for this. They usually have a corresponding groove. It is needed to make the product more reliable and durable.

What to do if there is a problem with the door?
First, you need to find out the cause of the door mechanism malfunction. To do this, it is advisable to have the following devices:
- hammer;
- screwdrivers of several types;
- plumb line;
- chisel;
- plane;
- hex wrench;
- lubricant
You should start by identifying the location of the breakdown. Almost always the reason is related to the hinges, door frame, panel or lock. If the opening of the moving part of the door block has worsened, it is recommended to check the product with a plumb line. Using a regular sheet of paper, the tightness of contact between the sash and the frame when closing the door is determined.
If the problem is in the hinges, the door leaf will need to be removed to gain easy access for repairs. If the box fails, you cannot do without dismantling and reinstalling the entire unit.
Types of handles, methods of adjustment
Handles are used, as a rule, of office or push type. Office pens are semicircular, round, triangular or semicircular, single-sided or double-sided. For doors installed in rooms with little traffic, push handles with cylinder locks are mainly used.
If the push handle begins to lower with force, lubricate the corresponding mechanism.
If the pressure set is jammed and lubrication of all parts does not give the desired result, the entire mechanism will need to be replaced.
Stages of replacing the pressure headset:
- We turn the plate located at the base of the handle so that the fastener opens.
- Unscrew all fixing screws.
- We remove the old handle.
- We install a new copy in its place.
- We close the fastener with a plug.
If the fastenings on the handles become loose, they must be tightened using a hex wrench or a Phillips screwdriver. We select the tool depending on the type of locking mechanism. First remove the decorative trims covering the fasteners.
The screws of the push set are tightened using a Phillips screwdriver. The fastenings of the office handle are clamped using a hex key; a special groove is provided for it in the side part.
If it is necessary to replace an office handle and push set, when purchasing new components, we pay attention to the fact that their structure and dimensions match as much as possible:
- fastening distances;
- width and height of the slats on the pressure headset;
- number of fastenings.
When purchasing an office pen, pay attention that the distance between the lower and upper screws in the new and used products is the same.
Causes of problems with doors
Adjustment of entrance doors should be carried out regardless of whether there are malfunctions in the structure or whether the doors are functioning without any complaints. To quickly troubleshoot problems, you need to understand the causes of breakdowns.
The door closes by itself
Independent movement of the sash is possible when the upper part of the frame is tilted. Shifting the frame forward leads to arbitrary opening of the interior door, tilting it back leads to closing.
Creak
Typically, the creaking of metal doors is observed only in old structures when the grooves are clogged and there is a lack of lubrication, especially if preventive maintenance has not been carried out for several years.
New doors sometimes creak when the door comes into contact with the frame. In this case, abrasions are found on the surface of the door frame. The subsequent tactics of regulatory measures will depend on the localization of abrasion marks.
Sagging
Sagging of entrance doors occurs as a result of abrasion of the ball or bearing. Having determined the location of the breakdown, the worn part is replaced with a new one.
Deformation of plastic structures often occurs due to prolonged exposure to the open position, especially in the warm season. The fixing elements of the balcony door cannot withstand the weight of the structure and sag by the end of the season. It is characterized by the abrasion of plastic on the threshold, accompanied by unpleasant sounds.
Loose closure
Often, the reason is the skew of the box. It is possible that when installing the block, the beams were loosely secured or connected in the wrong proportion. The easiest way to determine skew is to use a level or plumb line.
The door may not close well due to insufficiently recessed hinges, the surface of which protrudes above the frame or panel.
The next reason for a leaky ledge is the loss of elasticity of the seal. Standard wear and tear of the material occurs; the seal requires regular replacement during long-term use.
Cloth stuck in the opening
The canvas closes easily, but opens problematically in two cases. Either the fastening of the beams in the box is not tightened properly, or the recesses for the hinges are too deep.
The locking mechanism touches the jamb
If the lock or handles are located at a shallow depth, the door strip will cling to the adjacent jamb. To open or close a door, force must be used.
Skew
The first reason for the distortion of wooden structures is the swelling of a section of the door leaf. The door structure crosses in the closed position due to protrusion of one or more sides of the leaf.
The second reason is the wrong choice of loops. To avoid deformation of fastening elements, it is necessary to select parts that correspond to the weight parameters of the web.
Adjusting awnings
The hinges on which aluminum doors are attached are either stationary or removable. The number of hinges depends on the purpose of the door block:
- if the structure is heavy, three hinges must be installed;
- For light interior doors, two awnings are enough.
If the door is sagging, rubbing against the frame or squeaking, it is necessary to adjust the aluminum door hinges. If the structure is not adjusted in time, it may break, then some elements will need to be replaced. Before starting the adjustment, remove the decorative trims from the hinges by unscrewing the screws with a 5 (or 6) hexagon. To learn how to adjust a hidden door hinge, watch this video:
Canopies with two adjustment points:
- adjustable in height by placing a spacer between the canopies attached to the frame and sash;
- The pressure to the frame is adjusted by horizontal movement.
Canopies with three adjustment points:
- We adjust the abutment force by turning the screw on the inside of the hinge on the sash across the axis with a hex wrench;
- align vertically, adjusting the lower loop with a hex wrench;
- align it on the plane in the open position, remove the decorative plug, and adjust it with a hexagon.
How smoothly the door closes depends on the correct operation of the closer; it is adjusted by turning the screws on the body.
If the doors are installed in such a way that it is impossible to remove the decorative trim for adjustment, remove the sash in the standard way. The decorative trim is fixed with a screw on the opposite side; it is visible when the sash is open. We make adjustments and hang the sash again.
If you can’t remove the sash, remove the plastic caps on top and bottom of the hinges. Then we knock out the fastening “fingers” with a hammer using the screw from the frame dowel.
How to adjust the door?
The tactics for adjusting doors depend on the type of door system and the material from which the door is made. To set up the door unit, you will need measuring instruments, following the instructions, and having minimal repair skills. If the box is found to be skewed, the entire structure will need to be reinstalled.
Door fixation
The first stage of strengthening the frame is the complete dismantling of the door structure. Then you should assemble the beams strictly at an angle, strengthening the joints with additional screws.
Correct installation of the door frame requires smooth joints of the beams at an angle of 90 degrees. The result should be a strong U-shaped structure.
You can avoid distortions when installing into a wall using temporary wooden planks installed between the vertical elements of the frame. The following locking wedges are placed at the top corners and in the middle of the long beams. After the fixation is completed, the box is secured with bolts. The free space between the box and the wall is filled with polyurethane foam.
Eliminating squeaks
Creaking hinges are lubricated with special machine oil. It is necessary to partially remove the door from its hinges. To do this, a wedge is placed under the canvas. A small amount of oil is poured into the resulting hinge gap with the sash raised. If you do not have a suitable lubricant at hand, it is permissible to use a piece of graphite lead from a simple pencil.
Brief instructions for self-adjusting aluminum doors in the event of a blockage in the lubricant:
- Removing old grease while simultaneously cleaning parts from dirt is best done in the removed position.
- If rust has formed that prevents the removal of the canvas, it is not recommended to knock down the hinges with a hammer. You need to use a rust remover. The spray is applied to the surface before dismantling. It is necessary to clean the hinges from residual grease, dust, and rust until the structure is perfectly clean. Before applying fresh lubricant, a rust converter must be applied.
- The lubricant should be applied to the pin, ring, and other rubbing parts of the mechanism.
- Inspect the washer for wear and replace it with a new one if necessary. It is recommended to install washers made of carbide metal or an engraver.
- The rotating parts of the device are lubricated in hidden hinges.
- To distribute the lubricant evenly, the sash must be moved in different directions.
- Excess oil is wiped off.
Instructions for self-adjustment of an aluminum window
If you decide to debug the window yourself, you will need several tools.
The main debugging tool is a 4 mm hex key, auxiliary tools are pliers and a Phillips screwdriver. After completing the adjustment, you should thoroughly lubricate the mechanism; conventional machine lubricant or WD-40 spray is suitable for this. The fittings of aluminum windows from different manufacturers have significant differences. Therefore, first of all, you should determine the brand of fittings for your window (the manufacturer’s logo is located on the end side of the sash). You can also use the repair and operating instructions, which you can download below. Almost any fittings allow debugging from three planes: horizontally, vertically and adjust the degree of clamping.
- Horizontal adjustment. Correction of the horizontal position of the sash is carried out by adjusting the upper hinge. It is carried out with the sash open and at the same time tilted. The clockwise movement pulls the top corner towards the canopy, while the bottom corner of the sash moves in the opposite direction. The bottom hinge has a similar hole on the side.
- Vertical adjustment of the aluminum window is carried out using the same hexagon and lower hinge. Rotating the key clockwise raises the sash, counterclockwise lowers it. The pitch is 2 mm.
- The sash is pressed by adjusting the eccentrics located along the entire perimeter of the aluminum window. When the eccentric is rotated clockwise, the window pressure will be tighter; when rotated counterclockwise, it will be weaker. Usually, the window pressure is weakened in the summer, and slightly strengthened in the winter. On some types of fittings, the degree of clamping can be adjusted only by changing the position of the strikers. The adjustment is carried out with a hex wrench - moving the bar towards the street helps to strengthen the pressure, while moving it indoors helps to loosen it.
- The fittings are lubricated with machine oil in all friction points.
Adjusting fittings is a complex procedure that requires great theoretical and practical skills. Any minor actions can significantly aggravate the situation: increase the misalignment of the sash or lead to breakdown of the entire mechanism. If there is a need for adjustment, contact a specialist. Our specialists will eliminate defects quickly, efficiently and provide a guarantee.
What errors are possible when setting up a door?
Many problems can be avoided by performing the correct basic door settings during installation of the structure.
The position of the door leaf in the frame is assessed before the door installation is completed. Some mechanisms cannot be adjusted after installation of the structure.
The dimensions of the gaps in the door frame are carefully checked for subsequent filling of the free space with special foam. If you make a mistake at this stage, you cannot do without reinstalling the box.
The second drawback during setup is the incomplete elimination of irregularities along the edge of the canvas. If the geometry between the panel and the frame is incorrect, the door will not operate correctly.
Proper care of door structures significantly reduces the risk of breakdowns. Regular preventive measures prevent most malfunctions in the future and extend the life of the doors.
Features of aluminum door repair
- doors, after they break, require the most prompt intervention of a specialist, since they are associated with the greatest traffic and any breakdown can quickly scale up;
- due to the complexity of the design, it is not recommended to carry out independent repairs in artisanal conditions;
- When replacing parts, it is better to use only original components and fittings.

When is it necessary to adjust the front door: reasons
Every person strives to make his home as reliable, comfortable, and protected as possible. It is worth noting that special attention should be paid to the door, regardless of whether it is a private house or an apartment. Many people have no idea that even after proper installation of the door structure, adjustments are required. There are a number of criteria by which you can determine whether or not it is necessary to regulate the web, since neglecting them can cause premature failure of the product.
How to extend the life of a structure?
It is worth remembering that with proper care the structure will last much longer. When choosing a product, you need to calculate in which direction it will open, buy the highest quality fittings, adjust and lubricate them on time (at least once a year).
Adjustment of overhead awnings on aluminum doors is not required very often if the hinges are of high quality. You can do it yourself if you have a simple tool, some patience, and if the design itself allows it.
How to adjust a metal entrance door: tools
If the door does not close well, then adjustments need to be made. In other words, as already noted, there may be many reasons why it is necessary to restore the optimal condition of the door leaf, but work should be carried out only in accordance with a document such as the instructions that come with each product. Many companies offer additional services when selling doors, but this service is completely useless, because these actions can be carried out independently.
Before you begin adjusting the metal door, you need to prepare the necessary tools for the job.
To adjust you will need:
File;
In some cases, machine oil may additionally be useful, which, after adjustment, is added in small quantities to those places where friction of mating parts occurs. It is advisable to immediately purchase a new seal to avoid having to carry out maintenance twice.

ADJUSTING ALUMINUM DOOR GEOMETRY
At our old customer restaurant “Osteria Da Cicco” in Banny Lane.
3, where 7 years ago we replaced a broken double-glazed window in a plastic window, the aluminum entrance door broke. The bottom hinge had been torn out; apparently they had placed a hard object to hold the door open. A pin fell out in the Upper hinge, and the door was held on its word of honor. We replaced the “Dr. HAHN” on hinges with support bearing “STN”. A new lower hinge had to be installed lower, and the torn piece of aluminum profile had to be riveted with a patch made of “alucobond”. The customer is happy that he did not have to spend 85,000 rubles on replacing the aluminum entrance group. Repair of an aluminum door with replacement of hinges and adjustment of geometry RUB 10,500. The door works perfectly. More details
Tips: how to adjust the front door to eliminate squeaking
To fix a problem such as a squeak that occurs when a door slams and opens, you will need to take care of purchasing a special lubricant. Most often, it is for this reason that you have to service a Chinese door, since they come from the factory with a minimal amount of lubricant.
A variety of materials can be used for lubrication, such as WD-40 spray.
If there are abrasive particles in places where friction of parts occurs, then this is more difficult, since it is not enough to simply drip oil into the hinges of the structure. In general, in order to remove the presence of an unpleasant squeak when using a metal door, you need to carry out an audit.
To prevent the door from creaking, you need to use a special lubricant
- Analysis of the design;
- Cleaning all places where door elements come into contact;
- Assembling the product, having previously lubricated all the necessary parts located inside, and the rotating mechanism is especially carefully lubricated.
If the creaking, having become annoying, occurs due to the fact that the door has settled, then when it is tightly closed, a mark will gradually begin to remain on the frame. In this case, it is necessary to loosen the hinges, adjust the spatial arrangement of the sash, and tighten the fasteners.
How to choose quality products?
Hinges for aluminum doors differ not only in design, but also have different quality characteristics. When choosing hinges for your doors, it is important to take them into account and choose the right system that can withstand the load that you put on it.
The main indicator of product quality is its reliability and fastening in the profile. That is why you should not purchase cheap designs from unknown brands. Most likely they won't last long.
If you are going to install a door in a place accessible to intruders, for example, as an entrance or balcony, and you can climb onto the balcony from the street, it is better not to save money and purchase anti-vandal hinges that cannot be unscrewed or cut from the street. An important role when choosing such hinges is not only the quality of the material, but also the method of attaching the hinge itself.
The durability of the structure depends on how high-quality alloys were used to create the hinges: the more often the door is opened, the greater the load placed on its fastenings. Even expensive fittings in public places last no longer than three years; at home, the figure increases to 10 years or more, since the door will not be opened more than a hundred times a day.
Interchangeability is also an important factor when choosing a design. If you need to replace accessories, it is quite difficult to find exactly the same ones as they were; they may stop producing them for some reason. In addition, individual components of the mechanisms wear unevenly and may require replacement. Such repairs will cost less than completely replacing a set of fittings.
The quality of the product is also important: if you buy a new door or install fittings, make sure that the latter is of a new type. Old-style structures begin to creak with age.
It is better to choose hinges for doors made of aluminum profiles from those manufacturers who have proven themselves well. Having saved a few hundred rubles on cheap fittings, you will spend much more by changing them frequently.
Instructions: how to adjust an aluminum door when opening tightly
With internal door panels, everything is much simpler, since adjusting the front door is the same as working with a product such as a safe, in which, starting with the lock tongue and ending with the complete assembly of the door, you need to be not only careful, but also not make mistakes that could be beneficial for attackers.
It is quite possible to adjust the front door yourself, the main thing is to approach this process competently
In other words, if you want to independently adjust the metal entrance door, then you need to:
- Patience;
- Competent approach;
- Availability of all necessary tools.
If the door to the apartment begins to open tightly, then you need to see how far the seal adheres to the surface of the structure. Sometimes this may be due to the fact that it is puffy or because there is too much of it. In this case, poor-quality sealing of the door occurs, and on the contrary, the formation of additional cracks and a decrease in the level of security. In extremely rare cases, a door that is difficult to open is only possible because it is new; this often happens with Torex door leaves.
Often the seal is too new and it has not rubbed into the product, but this is not a problem at all and it is not dangerous.
Also, the reason may lie in a detail such as a lock, for example, if the location of the tongue and the strike plate are at different levels. To fix the problem, you need to take a file and remove the excess material that caused it.
Types of loops
Before you adjust an aluminum door, you need to know what hinges are installed on it. Fittings for internal systems often become unusable during operation. For external doors made of aluminum, the hinges are reliable and need to be adjusted less frequently. For structures made of this metal, overhead canopies are more suitable. The most important requirement for them is that they match and support the weight of the canvas. Another factor that is essential for a door to function well is the correct distance (not too small) between the hinges. This is especially true for fairly massive sashes.
Correct installation is also important. First, the lower canopy is fixed, and then the upper one, after which - the middle one. This scheme allows you to more evenly distribute the load and level the canvas. If the weight of the sash and the strength of the hinges do not match, then the structure will not work for more than 2 months. In cheap low-quality products they simply break.
Before you start making adjustments, you need to figure out how the hinges on aluminum doors work. Some hinges are mounted with a screw in a visible place, so getting to them is easy. If hidden type canopies were used, but working with them is much more difficult. There are fittings that cannot be adjusted at all. If the door becomes difficult to close, it will need to be replaced.
Hinges for aluminum structures are made from various materials:
- The most common fittings are made of steel. The hinges made from it are the strongest, they are durable. In order for the awnings to match the style of any canvas, they are painted in different colors.
- Brass is also used to make hinges. It has good decorative characteristics. But brass is inferior to steel in terms of strength and service life.
Aluminum canopies are not used, as they have little strength.
Rules of operation and care
It is recommended to check the quality of the hinges at least once a year.
