A modern window is a high-tech product with many functions. Warm aluminum glazing is becoming increasingly popular - the product is excellent for Russian conditions and is characterized by high levels of thermal insulation, strength and durability. Despite their higher cost, in many cases warm aluminum windows are preferable to plastic ones - for example, when glazing a large area of a loggia or balcony, or shop windows.

Why choose warm aluminum glazing?

Nowadays, a window is a high-tech frame structure that has become firmly established in the everyday life of modern people. The well-deserved aluminum sliding system “warm glazing” with thermal break serves equally reliably for both office and industrial commercial premises.

The “warm” version of the facade aluminum profile consists of three parts: these are two chambers, between which the manufacturer places a thermal insulating insert, or otherwise a “thermal break”, which interrupts the flow of heat that goes from the room to the street. One part of the window is “warm”, the second is “cold”, so this profile is usually called “with a thermal break”. This profile is characterized by an enhanced thermal resistance coefficient.

Improved energy-saving characteristics of warm facade glazing are aimed at significantly reducing energy costs spent on lighting and heating. Regulatory requirements for modern thermal technical parameters of translucent window structures provide for maintaining the readings of the reduced heat transfer resistance coefficient within the limits of: not less than 0.84 sq. per 1 sq. m., which can be obtained by applying the following energy saving methods:

  • the use of double-glazed windows equipped with several chambers: from 3, 5 or even 7 air cavities;
  • filling the air space between the glasses with an inert gas, in this case argon or krypton is used, to reduce the convection process;
  • install “smart” energy-efficient glass into the glass unit, onto which low-emissivity hard and soft coatings are applied; The most effective is considered to be a soft coating applied by magnetron in a vacuum; with such a coating, the glass will reflect long-wave infrared radiation into the building;
  • the use of thermal inserts with foil as an excellent heat insulator;
  • introduction of a polymer insert into the installation openings of the NFS, which will participate in the process of thermal separation; depending on the type of profiles, there may be one or two such inserts.

How to make windows even warmer and safer?

About 70% of the window structure area is occupied by double-glazed windows, which significantly affect the main characteristics of the product. Improving heat conservation, sound insulation and reliability of windows is facilitated by the use of double-glazed windows with additional options:

Energy-saving double-glazed window

Multifunctional double glazing

Thermal package

Noise-proof glass unit

Impact-resistant glass unit

  • Energy-saving - contain a special coating that is applied to the glass and has a heat-reflecting ability - the heat does not escape into the external environment, remaining indoors. In cold weather, this provides heat conservation and savings on heating.
  • Multifunctional - a silver-containing coating on one of the glasses can reflect heat into an environment with a higher temperature. During the cold season, the room will be warmer, and during the hot season, cooler. And all this with a minimum of heating or air conditioning costs. An excellent option for apartments oriented to the south or southwest.
  • Thermal unit - has properties similar to a multifunctional double-glazed window, but transmits more light in comparison with it, blocking only harmful UV radiation. The chambers of the structure are filled not with dried air, but with inert gas. The material of the spacer frames is plastic, not the usual aluminum, which eliminates the risk of “cold bridges”. As a result, the structure has increased heat and sound insulating properties.
  • Noise-proof - glass of different thicknesses is used in the manufacture of the structure. The distance frames between them also have different widths. This allows the product to demonstrate high sound-absorbing properties. Suitable for houses located near sources of constant noise.
  • Shockproof—made using triplex glass, tempered glass or shockproof film. The design withstands the blows of a thrown stone or bottle, and is also capable of holding back attempts by intruders to damage the glass for a long time. Does not create traumatic fragments. A kind of alternative to bars.

* PROMOTION! When ordering windows from our company, you will receive a thermal package (an innovative development in heat conservation) at the price of a regular double-glazed window! More details can be found in the “Promotions” section.

Subtypes: with and without wooden overlays

Warm windows can differ from each other in many ways, for example, by:

  1. Frame shape (e.g. rectangular, round, arched).
  2. Transparency of glass. It depends on the glass unit and insulating films used.
  3. Like the number of chambers between the panes in a double-glazed window. The width and weight of the window also depends on this.
  4. By the number and presence of sashes, as well as the type of their opening mechanism.

One of the ways in which warm profiles differ is the way they paint aluminum. There are 3 main types:

  • anodizing - which prevents air from entering the metal, which increases its durability;
  • powder painting, which increases resistance to mechanical damage;
  • lamination – covering the aluminum surface with a decorative film of any color.

Also, some warm aluminum windows are equipped with special decorative wood inserts. This slightly reduces the thermal conductivity of the profile and is also a decorative element of the design. Because of such inserts, the cost of the entire structure almost doubles. Also, this design solution significantly increases the weight of the window, which limits the places in which it can be installed.

Is it possible to remake the ordinary?

A cold aluminum window can be converted into a warm one only if the outer and inner parts of the profile are connected to each other not with polyamide, but with something else.
Most often, a cold profile does not have special fastenings.

Warm aluminum windows are made in such a way that during assembly the polyamide is soldered to the metal, which creates sealed chambers with air . Therefore, it can be difficult to convert a cold profile into a warm one.

Specifications

Aluminum windows have a strength that is 2-3 times higher than that of PVC analogues and 5-7 times higher than that of wood. This allows you to make lighter structures that place less load on the supporting base, as well as increase the light opening with a similar window opening area.

Because of this feature, aluminum windows can be used to create volumetric structures, such as domes, terraces, panoramic panels , as well as winter gardens and sloping facades. In some cases, it is possible to make large turning doors (2x2.5 m with a weight of 200 kg), if you choose strong fittings.

The low coefficient of thermal expansion of an aluminum window prevents torsion, compression/expansion, as well as cracking and deformation of the frame. Also, because of this, there is no need to use additional reinforcing liners, which reduces the weight of the windows.

The plasticity of aluminum allows you to make windows of complex shapes, and its resistance to temperature (650 ° C) prevents the window from catching fire.

With the right combination of materials, the fire resistance class can reach EI60 (operability for 60 minutes during a fire). The sound insulation value of warm windows will allow you to get rid of noise of 48 dB.

The thermal conductivity of a warm aluminum window depends on the size of the polyamide insert. Most often, the length of this part made of a synthetic composite with the addition of 25% fiberglass is 15-45 mm, but can reach 120 mm.

With average lengths of the polyamide insert, aluminum has a thermal conductivity of 0.32-0.55 m2*°C/W . If the space between the polyamide inserts is filled with polyurethane foam, then this value reaches 75 m2*°C/W.

The wall thickness of an aluminum profile most often has a value of 1.5-2 mm, but for lightweight structures it can change to 1.2-1.3 mm. The thickness of the grooves for fittings is 20 mm. The standard size of a double-leaf window is 1468x1468, but all sizes are most often made individually to fit the window opening. The thickness of the entire profile depends on the degree of protection, as well as the multi-layer glass unit (on average 70-75 mm).

Tips for choosing

When choosing a warm aluminum window, you need to pay attention to:

  1. Manufacturer. First of all, drawing up a contract and choosing a quality product depends on the supplier’s company. They must have all the certificates and guarantees, as well as a long period of work in this market.
  2. The thickness of the frame, since the higher it is, the greater the thermal insulation, as well as the mass. A compromise must be found between weight and energy efficiency, since in some buildings exceeding the permissible weight can be critical.
  3. The number of chambers in a double-glazed window should not be less than 2. Otherwise, such a window will be considered cold.
  4. Fittings, so it depends on how often adjustments will have to be made, as well as how long the window will last in general.

It is also recommended to contact window installation specialists, as they can more clearly assess the relevance of installing an aluminum heated window.

How to choose the right warm aluminum window is described in the video:

Which aluminum door with double glazed windows should I install?

The aluminum entrance door looks very aesthetically pleasing and harmonizes well with the facade of the building. This is a modern material that is distinguished by strict lines and contours, a smooth surface, an irresistible and attractive appearance, no one will remain indifferent.

To a private house

Of course, you can install an aluminum door with glass or a sandwich panel in your home. Subject to certain rules:

  • there must be a warm system, for example, Tatprof TPT-65, TPT-72, TPT-95 or Alutech ALT W62, W72;
  • it is not necessary to make a vestibule - one door made of a warm aluminum profile is installed from the street, and the other behind it from the inside;
  • do not skimp on materials and components for installation work;
  • very important - high-quality installation

In a private home for your loved one, you can also install panoramic sliding aluminum doors from floor to ceiling. Or folding ones so you can drive your car directly into the house.))

To the apartment

There are 2 options where you can install aluminum doors with glass: on the balcony and between rooms.

The exit to the balcony is usually a door with a window, but it can be just a door. Any design options to suit your taste: with glass or a sandwich panel, hinged, tinted, painted, anodized, any shape, with false binding in a double-glazed window, etc. A warm aluminum door is a must; after all, the exit is almost to the street and there will be heat loss with a cold aluminum system. Everything seems to be clear with the release, please order and place, no restrictions.

Technically, in order to install aluminum doors between rooms, there are, in principle, no obstacles. Neither to the manufacturer of aluminum doors, nor to the installers who will install. The main thing is to work out the design, finishing of the slopes and casings around the door. It is advisable to use hidden hinges on the door because regular door hinges are very bulky. And of course, you don’t need to overpay for a warm aluminum door; a cold aluminum profile with 1 glass is enough, for example, Tatprof TP-45, Alutech ALT C48.

In public buildings

The principle is the same here: for the street side you choose a door made of a warm aluminum profile, and for the interior side a cold one. Take any manufacturer Alutech, Tatprof, Shuko, Reynaers - each has both a warm aluminum system and a cold one.

I hope that you have learned a lot about aluminum doors with glass after reading this article. Order and install the doors that you like, but do not forget about such simple things as quality, practicality and durability. In the short term, you won't save money when purchasing aluminum doors, but in the long term, you won't go wrong.
