Stopsol Phoenix glass – reliable protection from the sun and prying eyes

The window market today offers various types of special glass that can satisfy any customer needs. One of the innovative proposals was Stopsol Phoenix private glass. It is a type of multifunctional glass and combines several functions: it protects the home from prying eyes, has a mirror effect and at the same time prevents overheating of the room in the summer. The WINDOWS MEDIA portal tells more about the features of private glass.

Stopsol Phoenix glass – protection from the sun and prying eyes

Home is a fortress where everyone wants to feel safe and protected from prying eyes. In modern times, maintaining privacy has become a pressing problem, especially for residents of the first floors and densely built buildings. The proximity of buildings to each other does not contribute to a comfortable stay in your own apartment or country house. Residents have to stay in their living space with the curtains drawn at all times to protect their privacy from prying eyes.

The world's largest manufacturer of architectural and interior glass, AGC, has developed Stopsol Phoenix glass*, which protects the interior space from prying eyes. This product is unique and has no analogues. Solar control glass with a mirror effect is considered the optimal solution for real estate where it is important to maintain privacy and at the same time protect the room from the heat of the sun.

Stopsol Phoenix glass was created specifically for the Russian and CIS markets. Its main functions are enhanced sun protection, as well as “privacy”, which helps maintain visual comfort when the room is sufficiently illuminated.

Sun protection glass StopSol

AGC's StopSol solar control glass float glass by magnetron sputtering a thin transparent layer of metal oxides onto its surface. Due to this, part of the sunlight is reflected by the surface of the glass, and part is absorbed by the glass, which creates the necessary microclimate in the room. Spraying is classified as “pyrolytic”, which means it is hard and resistant to mechanical and atmospheric influences.

Depending on the intensity of illumination and the angle of incidence of light, the color of StopSol glass may change. The most common series of StopSol Classic the StopSol Supersilver series is characterized by greenish and bluish shades combined with stronger reflectivity and light transmittance, and StopSol Silverlight a lower degree of light reflection. StopSol Phoenix series - has increased light transmission, a bluish tint and strong reflective properties; this series is a unique Russian-made product. If colored glass was used in the production of StopSol glass, this will also affect the “final” color of StopSol glass.

The main application of StopSol glass is in the glazing of commercial buildings : it is used as single glazing and in double glazed windows (providing thermal insulation), in triplex it is used as sound-absorbing and safety glass. And after tempering, StopSol glass becomes able to withstand sudden temperature changes.

The advantages of AGC StopSol glass include:

  • Privacy and visual comfort when using StopSol glass.
  • The possibility of numerous combinations of sun protection levels, light transmission coefficients and different colors of Stopsol glass opens up unlimited scope for creativity for architects.
  • For all types of Stopsol glass, all types of processing are possible (hardening, bending, sandblasting, silk-screen printing, photo printing).

Standard supply of StopSol glass

Features of Stopsol Phoenix solar control glass with mirror effect

Stopsol Phoenix is available in neutral, bronze, green and gray shades with varying degrees of specularity. It is important to note that specularity from the outside does not affect the standards of permissible lighting indoors and does not affect the comfortable microclimate inside the building. This glass can be installed both on the inside and outside of the glass unit.

The light is not distorted even if there are different glasses in the house, for example, one window with Stopsol Phoenix, the other with regular glass. However, to maintain a consistent architectural style, it is recommended to install "private windows" throughout the building. The mirror effect looks beautiful if all the windows are made in the same style and are combined with the architectural appearance of the building. One window with a mirror coating against the background of ordinary ones will stand out from the overall style.

Stopsol Phoenix product options can be combined with energy-saving, fire-resistant or other types of glass, thereby achieving additional properties required by the consumer. The combination of solar control privacy glass with energy-saving glass will help reduce heating and air conditioning costs, while protecting you from the prying glances of passers-by or neighbors.

The individual characteristics of the glass must also be taken into account. If in daylight the glass completely retains its protective properties, and you can refuse to use curtains, then in the evening when the light is on, the privacy of the glass disappears. Closing the curtains in the evening is the norm for all people, but living behind constantly closed curtains is uncomfortable.

Mirror solar control glass Stopsol (Stopsol) is available in 2 different formats, the main difference of which is the size of one single sheet:

The PLF format is available in dimensions of 3210x6000 millimeters.

DLF format is available in sizes 3210x2250 millimeters.

Stopsol glass received this division for ease of transportation and use.

Stopsol glass is made from Planibel glass by applying metal oxides to its surface. This is a hard coating, its structure is resistant to atmospheric and mechanical influences. The high strength of the coating is ensured by spraying on the glass, which is carried out at the moment it leaves the furnace. Due to the base material, a product coated with stopsol can be completely transparent or have basic shades.

Stopsol glass is used in the glazing of building facades on the illuminated side, and it can be used in single glazing of rooms and balconies where the presence of bright daylight is not desirable.

For each specific application, there are 4 types of Stopsol coating:

Phoenix - has a bluish tint, increased light transmission and strong reflective properties. This type is manufactured using the magnetron method and is a unique product that is produced in Russia.

Silverlight is in last place in terms of light reflection.

Supersilver – ranks second in terms of light reflectivity, has improved light transmission and a bluish tint.

Classic is the most common glass, the leader in reflective qualities, having an amber tint.

For longer full use, it is not recommended to clean the glass surface with products that contain abrasive particles and ammonia. This material is not afraid of sunlight, moisture, or exposure to high temperatures. Stopsol glass can be tempered for further use in public places, processed by sandblasting, molding, stained glass elements (Svrorvski and beveli rhinestones) and photo printing.

Stopsol glass today is supplied in thicknesses from 4 to 10 millimeters, and is manufactured in accordance with GOST R.

The use of such glass in glazing reduces the heating of the room from sunlight, as well as the cost of air conditioning the premises, ensures an optimal energy balance of the building, and also decorates the façade of the building (a beautiful mirror reflection effect).

Solar control glass either reflects or absorbs radiation. Heat-absorbing glass is produced by introducing special additives into the glass melt, which color it gray or greenish-bluish. Such glasses transmit 63-76 percent of light, and only 30-35 percent of infrared rays, and their ability to absorb and transmit rays (with the same chemical composition) will depend on the thickness of the glass sheet.

“Dark” heat-absorbing glasses with a high light absorption coefficient can overheat greatly (50-70º Celsius above the environment), therefore they should not be used in external glazing. It is also undesirable to expose Stopsol Glass to uneven cooling or heating.

The second type of glass, which is designed to protect from the sun, is with thin transparent metal oxide, polymer or ceramic coatings. These coatings are applied to one of the surfaces of colorless ordinary glass. Such glass also absorbs part of the solar infrared radiation, but heats up significantly less.

In summer, thanks to sun-protection glass, the room is not so hot, the brightness and contrast of the illuminated objects is less. As a result, eye fatigue is reduced. However, such glass does not protect from direct sunlight, so there is no need to give up curtains or blinds.

When purchasing Stopsol solar control glass, you must take into account: the distortion of the colors of objects viewed through it should be minimal.

Stopsol glass can be both transparent and colored. You can see samples in our sales offices.
