Previously, the answer to this question was unequivocal - German! Indeed, German manufacturers have established themselves on the market for many years as reliable, proven companies. However, today the situation has changed, and the profiles of domestic manufacturers have become no worse than German ones!
The fact is that Russian companies began to adopt the experience of their European colleagues, and also undergo quality testing from a German institute, which allowed and allows today to create high-quality profiles with European characteristics!
Technical characteristics of windows
1.1 Number of cameras in a profile
The air hollow space that is formed between the partitions of the profile is called the chamber. As their number increases, the temperature in the room also increases. The smallest number of cameras in a profile is three. In this case, the thermal protection resistance coefficient is on average 0.62. If the profile is four-chamber, the coefficient reaches 0.64, five-chamber – 0.68, six-chamber – 0.72. As for noise insulation, the three-chamber profile absorbs 15-20 dB of noise, this figure increases by another 8-10 dB with each additional chamber. The Veka company produces a profile with 3-6 chambers, KBE - 3-6.6, REHAU - 3-5.5.
Obviously, the number of cameras in a profile will not help us identify the leader - all three companies offer almost similar parameters.
1.2 Width of the outer walls of the profile
The functionality of the window, its reliability and service life depend on the width of the walls (external). After all, the thickness of the walls determines not only the level of thermal protection and sound insulation of the window, it ensures its resistance to physical and mechanical stress and deformation. The thickness of the external walls of the profile, regulated by GOST 30674-99, must be at least 3 mm.
The manufacturing company Veka adheres to world standards and offers its customers profiles with wall thicknesses starting from 3 mm. It was BEKA products that became the basis for Russian standards.
The KBE company produces a profile with an outer wall thickness of 2.8 mm, which belongs to category “A” of the Russian standard (2.5 - 3 mm).
As for REHAU, in order to reduce the cost of products, the company offers its customers a profile with an external wall thickness of 2.5 to 3 mm.
1.3 Maximum width of the glass unit
It is wrong to focus only on the profile, because the heat and sound insulation indicators also depend on the thickness of the glass unit. Only a durable profile with a special sash design can support a double-glazed window of good thickness.
The most stable profile in the Veka product line is “VEKA-alphaline”, it can withstand double-glazed windows up to 50 mm thick.
Among the KBE profiles, “KBE Expert” turned out to be the most stable - it can withstand double-glazed windows up to 58 mm thick.
Rehau profiles have a permissible glass thickness of only 44 mm - this figure is typical for the REHAU Sib-Design model.
If we compare the readings of the KST (heat transfer resistance coefficient) of three companies, the picture changes somewhat - VEKA is ahead of the curve: Rehau - 0.79, KBE - 1.05, Veka - 1.37 m²°C/W.

Types of sliding systems
There are three types of portals on the market: PSK systems (parallel sliding); FS systems (folding, otherwise known as accordions); HS systems (lift and slide).
Parallel sliding systems - to open the sash, it must first be pushed forward from the opening, then moved along the guides to the side. In premium segment portals, the process is simplified and the sash extends automatically when you turn the handle, which is much more convenient. The maximum leaf width of a PSK portal is 2000 mm; the leaves are not combined with each other, which allows you to combine portals with blind blocks in any order and cover openings of almost any length.

- High cost of installation tools. When installing pipes up to diameter 32, you can get by with a kit that costs about $400. But if the pipe diameter starts from 40 mm, then the prices for tools increase sharply. In this case, you will have to pay at least 2 thousand dollars for the purchase. But you can still save money by renting equipment from a materials supplier.
Rehau cross-linked polyethylene pipe range
- Rautitan his. Used for hot and cold water supply, can withstand heating up to 70 degrees.
- Rautherm S. Designed for heating systems, resistant to pressure and high temperatures. It is highly flexible and can therefore be installed at low temperatures.
- Rautitan flex. A universal option that can be used for heating and water supply.
- Rautitan stabil. It has the same abilities as the previous type of pipe. At the same time, it can withstand short-term temperature increases better. The advantage is the presence of an aluminum layer that protects the pipes from linear expansion. This also increases the rigidity of the product, which simplifies the implementation of linear structures.
- Rautitan basic. It is rarely used in modern systems, as it is equipped with radial compression fittings. The technology is considered outdated.
- Rautitan pink. Slightly inferior to flex pipes, but the cost is lower.
