Plastic window with a window - advantages and disadvantages

Secrets of installing a window on a plastic window

Quite recently, a customer contacted our company with a complaint about previously installed windows. But he himself looked through the catalog and chose designs.

It turned out that those living in the apartment, who had become accustomed to the windows for many years, were unable to navigate the ventilation modes without the help of others. I then convinced the upset man that the preferred "door" would be there.

I wanted to talk specifically about plastic windows with vents in this article in order to eliminate such misunderstandings in the future.

Plastic windows with a window

How to saturate a room with oxygen when it is -20°C or lower outside, while still maintaining a warm atmosphere? It is wrong to think that an air washer can cope with a similar task. The unit only performs a humidifying function and does not in any way affect the amount of clean air in the room.

But if in the daytime it seems real, then at night it seems impossible.

At one time, I dared to experiment with plastic windows with a window, which provide three modes: one hundred percent open window, for winter and summer ventilation. Even without receiving meaningful advice from professionals, I wanted to finally resolve the issue of stuffiness in the apartment. I was not too lazy to even look at several specialized forums, from where I realized that most of them prefer to live “as is.”

I would like to immediately outline the main advantage of plastic windows with a window and the principle of operation. In the case of opening an ordinary sash for winter ventilation, we get a hole up to 3 m long. We multiply the indicator by the average width of the same hole, we get a hole of 6 cm². It’s worth agreeing that this is enough to cool a living space in a couple of minutes when it’s twenty degrees below zero outside.

If you use a window, the hole is reduced by two to three times. Plus, the very placement of the window forces cold air to flow not along the floor, as in the case of ordinary plastic structures, but along the ceiling.

From personal experience I can say that I sleep warm at night with the window open in winter ventilation mode, even when it’s 35°C outside. Therefore, I recommend installing only these plastic windows for people who have a hard time tolerating stuffiness.

Tips for choosing the right window design in the video:

Where are they used?

The first double-glazed windows presented on the market served to decorate window openings. Over time, the scope of application has grown significantly. However, due to the high price, not everyone could afford to buy such a design.

The window industry has improved, which has led to the emergence of competition. The promotion of new technology has affected the pricing of the product.

The development of the scope of application has led to considerable popularity of the glazing service for balconies and loggias. Plastic windows with a window have a significant bonus. This means that you can glaze a hole of the required dimensions.

Products of this type are applicable both in residential and industrial premises. They can be seen not only in window openings, but also in movable or fixed walls.

There are small organizations in the service market, making the use of PVC windows widespread.

What are there

Double-glazed windows in plastic frames very quickly found their own consumer and, as before, are very popular among construction companies. As for the vents, under no circumstances can they be attributed to a relic of the past, because thanks to them the list of methods for ventilating rooms is expanding.

There are three types of windows:

  • mortise Provides three opening modes: for winter, summer ventilation, and also full opening. They are designed immediately with the design of the entire structure and represent a separate sash with double-glazed windows and hinges. It is worth considering that plastic windows with a mortise window are expensive structures (the cost is 30-40% higher than for windows with a traditional double-leaf frame), but with all This is characterized by the highest reliability and long service life. In some cases, they may eliminate the need to install additional indoor climate control equipment.
  • split. Installed on an already installed window structure. To do this, one of the existing sashes is shortened to the required length, and the resulting gap is filled with a window. A trivial drawback is that it is virtually impossible to fit a clear fastening, and also to ensure a completely even joint of the window with the frame around the entire perimeter. Therefore, this type is one of the least reliable than the previous one. Both mortise and split models are equipped with additional frames, which has a dual meaning. On the one hand, light transmission is reduced, which should be considered a shortcoming, but at the same time, the strength of the entire structure increases significantly.
  • sliding . This model appeared relatively recently. The window itself is represented by glass placed in special runners. If necessary, they can move a certain distance and also return to their original position. From the outside, the design looks stylish and timely, but it is worth paying attention to the vulnerability of the mechanism. In this regard, it is better to entrust the installation work to professionals.

What do you win?

It would not be superfluous to consider the advantages of plastic windows with a window:

  • a window sill with a window is a safer place for both small children and overly active pets;
  • The main advantage of PVC windows with a window is the ability to ventilate the room in any weather, and accordingly maintain an optimal microclimate in the home. The area of the opening when the window is open is several times smaller than that of a classic sash, which allows you to retain heat for a longer time. In addition, the upper location of the ventilation slot plays an important role: cold air coming inside from the street passes along the ceiling, not the floor, and quickly mixes with the heat directed upward from the radiators. This eliminates the possibility of harmful drafts forming in the apartment. Taking into account the above factors, we can say that the use of plastic windows with a window is the optimal and modern way to saturate the living space with oxygen without heat loss;
  • Installing PVC windows with a window allows you to grow indoor plants on the windowsill without the fear that they will freeze. You also won’t need to constantly rearrange flower pots to open the doors for ventilation.

How to order?

Ordering plastic windows with a vent from our company is a fairly simple procedure. The consultant will advise on each model and will also help you choose the most optimal option. Within a few hours after submitting an application for installation, measurers will arrive at your address to determine the required dimensions, clarify details and sign the contract. After which the work is left to professional craftsmen.

The formation of the order cost is influenced by the following factors:

  • dimensions;
  • desired soundproofing and thermal insulation;
  • opening methods;
  • accessories;
  • additional function.

Our company also provides installation services for interior and balcony doors. An order for multiple jobs provides impressive discounts. We always have free shipping.

Types of windows

There are several options for integrating and opening windows. They differ in installation technologies and fittings that are used to complete windows.

Mortise

The most common way to ensure effective ventilation is to install a vent in the window. This is an exact reduced copy of the active leaf. The dimensions and fittings of such windows are determined by the customer. There are 3 ways to open them:

  • hinged (outward opening possible);
  • tilt and turn;
  • lifting.

In most situations, the choice of window opening method does not affect the functionality of other active window sashes. The exception is swinging outwards. In this case, not only the opening system of all sashes, but also the PVC profiles are completely changed.

Split

Such models are not fundamentally different from mortise windows. They usually open inwards and do not have a reclining function. Before making a window in a plastic window, shorten the old active sash. That is, when choosing this option, you will need to remodel the old structure. However, even in this case, you will have to order new double-glazed windows and purchase an additional set of fittings. This method is more suitable for old woodwork rather than new PVC windows.

Sliding windows

Metal-plastic windows with a sliding window are very rare. To make them, a special profile is required. Such windows are called slider or American. The easiest way to make them is from wooden beams. However, to complete these models, special opening mechanisms will be required. Producing a model with sliding windows by any other means leads to depressurization.

Should I install a plastic window with a window?

Undoubtedly, upon contacting a company that installs PVC windows, each client will receive intelligible advice on each model. But from personal experience I can say that managers are unlikely to mention plastic windows with a window in a conversation, so you should take the initiative yourself and ask about the products you are interested in. This nuance has nothing to do with the quality of the design, but with the fact that any model made of polyvinyl chloride performs the basic functions of windows.

What's worse: cold or stuffiness?

If the temperature outside is above 20°C, then there are practically no problems with fresh air in the house - you can always open the sash of a window of any size for a while without much heat loss. But we live in a climate zone where frosts of up to 30°C and below are not excluded, and that’s when you ask yourself about alternative window options.

At the same time, both the advantage and disadvantage of plastic windows is their tightness. In the closed position, PVC structures do not have the same ventilation that wooden frames previously had due to the cracks. In this regard, it is very difficult to spend the whole day, for example, in the kitchen preparing food, in a stuffy environment. And only systematic ventilation can solve the problem.

On the other hand, regular ventilation can significantly affect the warm microclimate in the room. And staying in the same kitchen becomes impossible without a warm jacket. Also, cold air is detrimental to indoor plants that stand on the windowsill.

The problem concerns not only the room where food is prepared, but also the bedroom. Our utilities are as unpredictable as the weather outside, and optimal battery temperatures are rare. And it’s almost impossible to get a good night’s sleep in the stuffiness, as well as in the cold. Therefore, most people leave the window slightly open at night, but in this case they are not immune from headaches and runny nose in the morning. What to do then?

PVC window. Installing a plastic window with your own hands in subtleties and nuances.

Dear friends, hello everyone!!! In winter, building a house is a little difficult. But there are many things to do.

Plastic window with a window - personal installation experience

- it's exotic. Chase after .

Someone will recommend installing an air conditioner. But it is worth remembering that the device is intended only to maintain a certain temperature in the room and does not affect air exchange processes. It is also not recommended to turn on the device in severe frosts.

When it is difficult to bear the stuffiness, and in the near future weather forecasters predict severe frosts, I personally would advise you to take care of installing plastic windows with a window.

  • the hole formed during ventilation is reduced by several times than in the case of double-leaf windows, which affects the preservation of heat in the room;
  • The ventilation hole is located at the top. Cold air entering the room goes along the ceiling, and over time, falling to the floor, it loses speed and warms up;
  • the window will allow you to decorate the windowsill with indoor flowers without fear of their normal growth;
  • and finally. It is much more comfortable to smoke through the window than to freeze with a cigarette by an open window.

See the video for variations in window vent designs:

Flaws

Plastic windows with a window in the kitchen also have disadvantages.

  1. The presence of a small door with the ability to open complicates the window design, increasing the cost. The width of the sash exceeds the height and, as a result, increases the load on the hinges.
  2. Insufficient dimensions of the window for mounting a full-scale fittings system on it. We have to be content with a small one - a rotary opening without a microventilation function, ventilation of a stepped type.
  3. The significant width of the profile panels reduces the light opening. This means that the location of the window will shade the room.
  4. The handle is usually placed at eye level for a person of average height. To close or open you will need to apply force, this is not very convenient.

From the factory at low prices

It’s hard to imagine an old wooden frame without a window. It was an integral attribute for ventilation of the room. But since the advent of plastic windows, many began to attribute the classic element to relics of the past, giving preference to casement structures. And apparently, this turned out to be improvident.

Let's consider when a window can help out.

Ventilation

Of course, modern PVC windows provide several ventilation modes. But sometimes, when it is 30°C or lower outside, even a tiny gap in a double-leaf structure can cause cold in a living room.

But in the case of a window, the problem is resolved: the heat in the room is retained and fresh air enters. Plus, the location of the window at the top forces the cool breeze from the street to flow along the ceiling, leaving the floor warm and comfortable for our feet.

Smoke break

After all, it’s much more pleasant to sit with a cigarette and a cup of coffee in the warmth than to stand on the balcony or fall half out of the window in cold weather. It is worth considering that a double-leaf window in ventilation mode is an ineffective way to combat smoke : it is all scattered throughout the room and does not come out.

Indoor plants and window

The window will allow you to ventilate the room without harming the indoor plants that stand on the windowsill. In this case, the flowers will receive the necessary portion of oxygen.

We can list a number of other advantages of a window, so I can say with confidence that an indispensable element of window frames is unlikely to go out of use in the near future.

Automatic opening of vents in a greenhouse

The windows in the greenhouse can be opened manually or have an automatic drive, which is much more convenient and practical than the first option. At a certain air temperature inside the room, the transom, equipped with an automatic device, opens independently for ventilation; when it gets colder, it gradually closes.

Drawing on how to assemble an automatic window opener for greenhouses with your own hands

There are 3 types of self-opening windows in a greenhouse:

  • hydraulic;
  • electrical;
  • bimetallic.

In order to determine which automatic opener is better, we will consider each option in detail, analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the designs.

See how to properly install a thermal drive to automatically open the windows of large greenhouses.

Hydraulic

An automatic hydraulic window opener for greenhouses is a simple lever system connected to the window. The design is reliable, autonomous; depending on the size of the transom, you can buy or make your own hydraulic opener of varying power. We invite you to watch a video review of hydraulic openers, with an analysis of the quality of their work in practice.

The principle of operation is based on the delta of ambient temperatures: atmospheric conditions change (the air heats up or cools down), the weight acting on the lever changes, as a result of which the window opens or closes accordingly.

The lever consists of 2 containers with liquid connected by a hose, one is located at the top, the other at the bottom of the greenhouse. The lower flask is a kind of thermostat, the vessel is sealed, part of it is filled with liquid, part with air. The upper container acts as a weighting agent. Then the laws of physics come into play: the surface of the greenhouse heats up from the sun, the temperature inside the room rises, the air in the lower flask heats up, begins to expand and displace the liquid, squeezing it through the tube into the upper vessel. The weight of the weighting material (upper container) becomes greater, and the window opens.

The device is simple, you can make and install it yourself. The liquid takes 20-30 minutes to cool; the window in the greenhouse will be open all this time, which is a minor drawback of the hydraulic mechanism. For example, with a sharp cold snap, this time can play a fatal role for plants.

Watch the video on how to construct a hydraulic automatic window opener for greenhouses with your own hands; the video shows a minor but common mistake: the containers should be placed in the sun, the shade slows down the heating of the liquid.

Electrical

A greenhouse with an automatic electric window is a system consisting of a temperature relay and a fan. When the air in the greenhouse heats up to a certain temperature, the relay is activated and the fan turns on. Significant advantages are power, high sensitivity to temperature deltas, the ability to regulate the system, and the compactness of the device. If there is a power outage, such automatic opening in the greenhouse becomes useless - this is its disadvantage.

If you decide to install an electric ventilation system in the greenhouse, it is recommended to acquire a backup (emergency) power source. Systems equipped with modern electric machines on batteries charged from a solar panel will help to protect the crop in the greenhouse.

Bimetallic

The bimetallic drive for greenhouse vents is based on the principle of the difference in the properties of the metal: compression and tension under the influence of a temperature delta. The mechanism consists of 2 metal plates with different thermal expansion coefficients. When heated, one of the plates bends into an arc and opens the window; when the temperature drops, the opposite effect occurs. The disadvantage is low power; the systems are only suitable for small and light transoms in the greenhouse.

Is it possible to make

From time to time, our company receives orders for the installation of plastic windows with vents.

Basically, the need for this design is determined by the following factors:

  • Pets live in the apartment. For example, it is not a problem for a cat to jump onto the windowsill and easily cope with the mosquito net. Also from our company you can order special anti-cat mosquito nets that can withstand the claws of even the most ferocious pets;
  • there are small children in the family. It is difficult to explain to a child that it is forbidden to climb onto the windowsill and turn any handles, because any careless movement or the slightest loss of balance and the baby will fall out into the street. Therefore, the window is a guarantee of your child’s safety. In the case of double-leaf structures, we offer a turnkey window handle, with which the handle is blocked for a time, for example, while the child is left alone in the house;
  • Severe frosts are forecast. Although managers say that all window models perform functions equally effectively, sometimes it is worth relying on your own observations. The window is the key to a warm and oxygen-rich indoor climate. Also, a small window located at the top of the structure will allow you to place indoor plants on the windowsill.

As for the negative sides of the window, it is the high position of the handle, which causes inconvenience when opening the window for children and elderly people who find it difficult to climb onto the window sill.

Among the most elegant ways to ventilate a room, we attribute the installation of a supply air valve to the windows.

The benefits of the additional element include:

  • during ventilation, mosquitoes, flies, and other insects do not enter the room , the noise-proof and heat-insulating properties of the windows are preserved, and protection from unwanted drafts is guaranteed;
  • ventilation using an air valve occurs automatically. It independently controls the flow of oxygen when the weather is favorable outside, and blocks the supply of air in the event of a strong cold wind.

The disadvantages include the same additional cash costs.

An example of choosing the optimal window option in the video:

Roto NX fittings – a new stage in the evolution of tilt and turn sashes

In 2022, Roto Frank introduced the 6th generation of window fittings to the Russian market - Roto NX. The model replaces the previous version Roto NT. The new product features advanced engineering solutions that improve comfort and increase the safety of windows.

New technical solutions have been implemented in Roto NX fittings in window ventilation modes (tilting and micro-ventilation):

  • provision of burglar resistance class RC2 in standard ventilation mode when using new anti-burglary strips;
  • The micro-ventilation mode has moved from the category of an additional option to a built-in function.

achieves burglary resistance class RC 2 in ventilation mode thanks to specially designed anti-burglary strikers.

Photo: Roto anti-burglary strikers: at the top – standard, at the bottom – with the ability to maintain class RC2 in ventilation mode*

In the tilting mode, these strips allow the sash and frame to remain engaged with each other, preventing the sash from opening.

Photo: tilt and turn sash in ventilation mode: on the left - with a standard strip the sash does not engage with the frame; on the right - with a special strip the engagement of the sash fittings with the frame fittings is maintained, providing burglary resistance class RC2*

Special anti-burglary strips are placed on the vertical sides of the frame (left and right) and on the lower horizontal side.

Micro-ventilation in ROTO NX occurs due to a special new design of standard frame scissors, which allows the sash to be fixed in micro-ventilation mode when the window handle is positioned at an angle of 45 degrees. Thus, all tilt and turn sashes of the Roto NX fittings are equipped with the following modes: swing (pivot opening), tilt (ventilation) and micro-ventilation by default.

Are vents installed on PVC windows?

Today people give preference to plastic windows because of their attractive appearance, practicality and reliable design.

It is worth remembering that the first PVC windows appeared in the middle of the last century. At that time, all models did not provide for the installation of a window on the structure. But soon, around the 90s of the last century, manufacturers of plastic windows returned to small windows located in the upper part of the frame. This decision was determined by the needs of customers, as well as a number of advantages that the “temporarily forgotten” window guaranteed.

Plastic windows with a window not only preserve the qualities of classic designs, but also improve air exchange between the ventilated room and the street.

Why do you need to ventilate the room?

Lucky are those who live in southern latitudes or at least in the middle climate zones, where warm weather prevails almost the whole year. To ventilate the room, they just need to open the door slightly, setting the opening limiter, and forget about the stuffiness for the whole day. But what should those living in the northern zones do? Indeed, in these areas frosts below -30°C are not uncommon.

But if this seems problematic even during the daytime, then during sleep it is generally unrealistic to control the process. If the window is left in the winter ventilation mode, for example, at night, then waking up in the morning in a cold bedroom is guaranteed and it is possible that waking up will be without a headache or runny nose. Cool air from the street also has a detrimental effect on indoor plants standing on the windowsill.

The micro-ventilation mode that modern plastic windows are equipped with is not enough to fully saturate the living space with oxygen. Therefore, in order to feel comfortable in your own home, you need to choose PVC models with a window. After all, periodic ventilation is the key to good health of those in the room, getting rid of accumulated dust and pathogenic bacteria.

Is there an alternative?

The main advantages of plastic windows with a window include the following characteristics:

  • there is no need to open the sash for ventilation , which allows you to effectively use the space on the windowsill, for example, for growing indoor plants;
  • the likelihood of unwanted drafts forming during ventilation is reduced to almost zero.

I think everyone understands that periodic ventilation is a necessary measure to maintain a normal microclimate in the house , and, accordingly, for the health of those living in it. Some people mistakenly believe that installing an air washer in the kitchen and an air conditioner in the bedroom will solve the problem of opening windows when it is very cold outside. But this is not so, because household appliances perform other functions: washing only humidifies the air, air conditioning is responsible for maintaining a certain temperature, and does not in any way contribute to saturating the room with oxygen, which is so important for the human body.

Manufacturers of PVC windows are trying to solve this issue in other ways, equipping their products with all kinds of devices, for example, air valves. Innovations are indeed effective to some extent and have a number of advantages, but cannot be compared with plastic windows with a window.

Today, PVC windows with a window have a huge number of modifications, so it’s not difficult to find the one that suits you. Various colors are also available.

Mostly, a window is necessary in those rooms where there is high humidity and constant temperature changes.

Ventilation modes

Most models of plastic windows with a window are equipped with several ventilation modes, or rather three:

  • for summer ventilation;
  • for winter ventilation;
  • full opening.

This feature allows you to independently regulate the flow of fresh air from the street, as well as maintain heat in the room, especially when it is severely frosty outside.

Thanks to the upper position of the window, the cold breeze from outside passes along the ceiling, and over time, until it goes down, it loses its original speed and quickly mixes with the room air. This allows you to keep your feet warm, not worry about the health of your child, who likes to play on the floor, and not be afraid of the fading of indoor flowers that stand on the windowsill.

Today, plastic windows with a window are popular among consumers, due to an impressive number of positive qualities. Also, the buyer’s choice is influenced by the modern appearance of the structures and a huge number of modifications. The manufacturer did not stop at producing exclusively square frames and offers oval, arched and other original shapes of its products.

But among the listed advantages, there is one significant drawback, which is decisive for many people - the cost of plastic windows. Due to the need for additional work to install the window, you will need to pay several thousand more for the structure.

The difference between a window and a transom, when is it better to choose a transom

Many customers prefer to install transoms in the upper part of the frame instead of vents. These elements of window blocks have several fundamental differences:

  • opening method - the transom can only be lifting or folding, and the window always has a swing opening system;
  • installation zone - the transom is installed across the entire width of the window, and the window is installed in one of the upper corners;
  • control - the transom can be opened/closed with a handle and remotely using a long mechanical handle, and the window only with the help of a window handle.

The difference shows that these elements of window units cannot be considered interchangeable.

In situations where the windows are high or installed in a house where people with disabilities live, the functionality of a transom is better than a window due to the possibility of remote opening using a control panel.

At the same time, windows with a window, the price of which is slightly less than that of models with transoms, are optimally suited for low and wide openings. In this case, it is better to divide the light opening into separate parts by vertical imposts. A transom in such situations is not the best option. Trying to integrate it into a separate part of the window will negatively affect the aesthetics of the windows. Window windows look much better in such situations.

Conclusions and customer reviews

Should I buy plastic windows with a window or is it enough to install a regular double-leaf frame?

In this matter, you cannot focus solely on pricing policy; it is important to evaluate several factors:

  • what climate zone do you live in? If severe frosts are predicted in the future, the window will help maintain heat in the room and saturate the climate in the house with oxygen. The peculiarity is due to the small gap that is formed during winter ventilation, and the upper position of the window, due to which the cold flows along the ceiling;
  • are there any children in the house? For an inquisitive child, it is not a problem to climb onto the windowsill and open the sash, through which it is easy to fall out onto the street;
  • Do you have a pet? This nuance most likely applies to cats, for whose claws there are no barriers, even in the form of mosquito nets;
  • for what purpose do you use the window sill? For lovers of house plants, a window will help keep flowers safe and prevent them from freezing in the cold.

It will be important to find out how people who have already assessed their qualities respond to windows with vents:

  • We installed a window with a window only in the bedroom, the work cost only 1000 rubles more. At the same time, everything is very convenient. We rarely change the openness mode, unlike in the living room, where there is a regular double-leaf frame. There are no drafts observed. Perhaps somewhere I’ll add some imagination, but this version of the window frame suits me better;
  • We decided to experiment with plastic windows with a window, although we were previously persuaded otherwise for a very long time. The window is located in the center, and not on the edge as in a regular wooden frame. I can say that cold air from the street does not pass through the ceiling, as most consultants convince. And yet, the window is not fixed in any way and often opens very wide in the wind. We later learned that it was possible to install a window with fixed ventilation modes. In all other respects, everything is fine, there are no significant complaints;
  • installed windows with a window solely to protect their child, and did not think about other advantages. Now I can say that the choice was made correctly. The apartment is well ventilated all day long and there is no need to constantly open and close the door;
  • I suffered for a long time with stuffiness in my old apartment, especially in winter when the heating was on. Having moved to a new house, I decided to install windows with a vent, although I had been nurturing the idea for a long time before that moment. So far everything is fine - the apartment is ventilated and the heat is retained. As for the appearance, I like it; the window looks familiar. Plus, there is no need to clutter the room with additional ventilation equipment.

Varieties

There are many types of vents that are installed in plastic windows. They differ in characteristics and installation method:

  • split - the template is mounted in the section of the window door;
  • mortise - with a pleasant appearance and higher in price than other types;
  • sliding - having the appearance of glasses, evenly moving relative to each other.

The first type of plastic windows with a vent can be installed in the opening. To install such a system, it is necessary to remove a section of the blind sash by installing a rotating product.

Mortise windows are popular models among buyers. When manufacturing a double-glazed window, the element is already designed to guarantee the stability and safety of all mechanisms.

The mortise sash can be mounted in both wooden and plastic double-glazed windows.

The sliding type is labor-intensive to produce and the most comfortable. For installation, grooves are used in the plastic window, through which a double-glazed window or pairs of glasses, mounted in a light frame, pass. The sliding window can be horizontal or vertical.

Additional views of this part of the window:

  • located in a “blind” opening;
  • with a mobile large sash;
  • with all doors fully moving.

Window

A vent is a small, opening part of a window opening at the top. A classic, time-tested option. It has more advantages than disadvantages.

Pros:

  • miniaturization and lightness - for a small and standard, low window this is the best option, it is easy and convenient to open even for elderly people;
  • It is more convenient to regulate the degree of ventilation with a window - you can open it slightly, or you can open it completely.

Minuses:

  • it’s just that the sashes will cost less, you will have to pay extra for installing the windows;
  • The area of the transparent part of the window will be smaller due to the presence of the frame; some people do not like this aesthetically.

Both the classic window and the flap have their advantages. You should choose the appropriate option based on your wishes for convenience and design, as well as the size of the window opening.
